Antonio Banderas to do ZORRO II and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO'

Published at:  Nov 19, 1999 7:34:08 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here. Seems that Banderas is set to do a second Zorro film. Please God, don't call it ZORRO 2. Be cool. Call it something like ZORRO'S BLADE or ZORRO RIDES AGAIN or ZORRO REALLY KICKS ASS THIS TIME. Meanwhile the bit about him thinking about a second 'Desperado'... well that would be the long rumored ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO. As far as I know, this project is still... quite a ways off, however I'll ask Robert next time I see him. Here's Count Satyr...

Hi Harry,

I was just watching BBC when I saw an interview with Banderas. He said that he was "definately" going to do a second
Zorro and was thinking of doing a second Desperado.

In case you did not know.

Cheers,

Count Satyr

Can't wait for a sequel, that movie kicked major ass! Hopefully they'll bring back the same director and Catherine "babe" Zeta Jones.

    Viva El Zorro!

    by sorcerer

THE MASK OF ZORRO was a wonderfully satisfying, old-fashioned action adventure. A sequel is definitely in order, and of course the presence of Ms. Zeta Jones is required. I'd last heard that the film didn't make *quite* enough money to warrant a sequel, but fortunately the studio seems to have changed its mind.

  • ...like...well, I don't have any ideas, but I'm all up for some more sword play from Antonio. Take that any way you want. ; )***Anybody ever watch the old Zorro movies and shows on Disney late-night? They're pretty cool themselves.

    Ahhhhhh........Zorro!!

    by renzella

'The Mask Of Zorro' was one of those rare movies that surprised the hell out of me. For sheer entertainment value, it doesn't get much better than that. Banderas proved once and for all that he is a charming, good actor, and I would pay to see Zorro ride again before I handed out my money to see

    Zorro's revenge staring Jenifer Lopez!

    by dirtfish

Kill off the Catherine Zeta Jones character and have Zorro avenge her death. Jenifer Lopez could replace her as the love interest and Bill Murray should play the bad guy. Bandares has enough quality and star appeal to carry this film without Anthony Hopkins. And as an after thought if the Academy owes Jim Carrey an Oscar for the Truman Show than I think it also owes Bandares one for his work on Evita.

    Zorro film names

    by captblood

Well, we are getting somewhat limited in title selection as the following have already been used, and I really HATE when a film that is not a remake has the same title as an older film....So far we've had...Zorro, Zorro's Black Whip, Behind the Mask of Zorro, Zorro the Invincible, Zorro's Fighting Legion, Zorro Rides Again (twice), Zorro, the Avenger, Zorro the Gay Blade, Son of Zorro, The Mark of Zorro (3 times), The Mask of Zorro, The Sign of Zorro, Ghost of Zorro, Duel at the Rio Grande (yeah, it was really a Zorro movie),The Nephews of Zorro, Don Q Son of Zorro, The Three Swords of Zorro, Zorro the Avenger, and then on TV "The Mark of Zorro", "Zorro", "Zorro and Son" and "The New Adventures of Zorro"; and of course we can't forget the Adults Only film The Erotic Adventures of Zorro...not to mention the thousands of only spanish release films that never managed to get Americanized titles.--------My personal vote is _Blade of Zorro_; it keeps with the feel of the series and everyone knows the two most important items in Zorro's wardrobe are his mask and his blade. Of course that's just my opinion; I could be wrong...but I doubt it.

Kill off Catherine Zeta Jones's character? Are you insane?! Lopez is a sweet thang, but she can't replace Jones. It just cannot be allowed.

I just hobble back from 8 hours of fencing and find out that they are going to make a sequel to a movie with some good (by movie standards) sword play AND Katherine "god I could die just looking at her" Zeta Jones. happy. happy. happy

    How about . . .

    by king fausto

. . . "The Colostomy Bag of Zorro?" Works for me. Turn him into a pimp who has his ladies do his work for him and call it "Zorro's Bitches."
