Okay, folks. I've read each and every one of your proposed Sex Bob-omb LP titles, and, after much agonizing, have finally selected one grand prize winner and five runners-up. You guys did not make this easy at all. So many great suggestions - the majority of which worked in references to classic NES games, while others drew (sometimes stealthy) inspiration from Bryan Lee O'Malley's books.
I had no real criteria by which I deemed one title better than another. Cleverness was all that mattered (though non-sequiturs did ultimately fare better than SUPER MARIO BROS. references). Selecting the grand prize winner was easy, as it combined three SCOTT PILGRIM essentials: Canada, video games and rock and roll.
LONG MAY YOU (DIRECTIONAL PAD LEFT OR RIGHT + B BUTTON)
Kudos to Levi Fuller for this first-ever mash-up (as far as I know) of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and SUPER MARIO BROS.
And now for the five (5) runners-up. Some of these I could definitely see emblazoned across a Sex Bob-omb album cover. Others just made me laugh. Winners name in parentheses, followed by brief rationale from moi.
JAM WASTELAND TORNADO (Frank Miszczuk) - I thought this was a random nod to The Jam. Evidently, it's a CASTLEVANIA reference. Sounds like Sex Bob-omb either way.
LUST CONCUSSION (Dan Furoy) - Just sounds right. Bonus points for returning no results on Google.
URBAN CHAMPION (David Daw) - Sentimental pick. Got this goofy, laughably limited Nintendo fighting game for Christmas '86 (along with the NES Deluxe Set. Number of times I tried to play GYROMITE: 1).
THE BEV MARSH GANG BANG (Ryan Russell) - This was unexpected. A bit rough for a Sex Bob-omb LP title. Perhaps it's their SEASON IN HELL. Only a Duddits joke could've topped this.
2600 WAYS TO DIE (Michael Ponder) - Makes me feel like playing some YAR'S REVENGE.
