Personally I saw this on the big screen Wednesday night with SLEEPY HOLLOW, and folks... While some of you might go off on this as looking MATRIX-y... Am I the only one that thought that quite a bit of the MATRIX looked John Woo-y? Hmmm... Styles begats styles folks... Live with it.

Hans Zimmer is doing the score for MI2 according to the trailer credits. Cool! I like the music in the trailer - it's a better twist on the MI theme than what U2 came up with.

Saw the trailer for MI2 before Sleepy Hollow which btw kicked holy ass! (Only one brief CG shot made me wince otherwise, perfect!) If it weren't for Woo... I donno...

MI should be about Ethan Hunt, but I saw none of Ethan in the preview. See, Ethan could be the American James Bond if they really wanted to. Trouble is, here Cruise has shaggy ahir and looks blurry-eyed and the preview is like The Matrix directed by the Doors. Hopefully the full trailer will be better.

Sure, the trailer's got all those cool styles that you love about John Woo but from what it shows Woo's style just doesn't seem to fit with the first film. The tone seems much more suited to the brainless audience members out there who just want the action, whereas the first was kinda noirish in style and worked more as a suspense thriller than an action movie (which is what this is shaping up to be). Infact Tom Cruise was hardly involved in any fight scenes in the first, let alone held a gun, which worked well. I'm hoping Woo retains the complex styled plot of the original and more on suspense than all out action. Oh yeah, and I want "spikey-haired" Tom back - here he just looks like a bum, not the cool-ass motherfucker of the past.

I'm a huge fan of John Woo. The action sequences in films like "Hard Boiled" and "The Killer" have never been equalled. He's never achieved these heights in his American films. Even "Face-Off" was a huge disappointment after all the reviews. Even in his best films, Woo has never specialised in plot or character subtlety. He came closest in "Bullet in the Head". If you're looking for a director who delivers suspense and intrigue, Woo is not the one. De Palma is. MI was a De Palma film, and I hope that MI2 will be a Woo film, finally a return to Hong Kong form from an action artist.
-
OVER-RATED is John Woo. The trailer looked like they had the budget of Dogma. Same ol' b.s. from Woo. Stupid white birds, bad use of slow-motion, over & over again, as if they had extra film they had to get rid of so they shoot it at high speed. Just lame.
I hope the movie is good. -
...she's coming over here tonight. I hope she's good.

Though it is a bit unfair to judge a movie based on a teaser trialer, I just can't see this film being true to the Mission Impossible franchise. It sucks.
Since when is M:I about guns and action? Espionage is about using you head, not your fists. Instead of having Mr. Hunt sneaking around Embasy's in disguise, we are seeing him cruising around in motorcycles in braod daylight. What the hell does this trialer have to with real life spy work? Even his haicut sucks. Give me the ex-marine crewcut of the original, anyday. They probably had no chioce with this, as Cruise was filming EWS around the same time. -
George Lucas was right when he said Holywood makes comercials, not films. I believe he and his pal DePalma are both working out of San Fransisco. Though DePalma made a less than perfect movie out of M:I 1, at least he showed contraint in using any guns or violence.

I posted something awhile ago, but ofcourse it was lost like many other talk backs. Anyway, not to disrespect anyone's opinion... but why are many of you being so picky?? You don't like Cruise's hair???! Give me a break. Stop whining about little things like that. In regards to the trailer... it's just a trailer. Don't presume to know so much about the film by just seeing the trailer. Someone said something like, "why do they need to show all of this action and guns in the trailer? The first film didn't have much of that." Marketing. People see this trailer, and they want to go see the movie. Plain and simple. They need to get people in the theater... that's what trailers are for... to "show off". That doesn't mean the films going to suck. I hate it when people judge a film by either the trailer, the media, or just the critics view. Go see it and then decide. Don't waste your time with, "I don't like his hair... or I don't liKE the shirt he was wearing..." its ridiculous. As far as it not being "in the vein" of the first film? Why should it. I don't want to see the same thing over and over. Cruise uses a gun more in this film??? So what. Big deal. As long as its an enjoyable film to watch... who cares.

Some of you people are obviously on crack. "MI2 looks like it has the budget of Dogma."? Which competing movie studio are you working for D Siskel? "What's up with Cruise's hair?" I'll tell you what's up, it's longer shithead. So what? "I want intelligent spy entertainment." What, like the tv show? Oh yeah, it was like a spy's handbook that show was.
The trailer tells the tale. It's going to be action packed. It's going to be a John Woo movie with a big budget. Have any of you seen a John Woo movie? Then don't act so fucking surprised when you see a few slomo shots!!
I can't wait for people to start complaining that John Woo is copying the action styling from the Matrix. Ofcourse before that, I will have to listen to assholes complaining about unnecessary beheadings in Sleepy Hollow.

Slow motion, ALL NIGHT LONG in true John Woo style, while you fly through the air with two dildos in your hands repeatedly...wondering if you will ever please your mother like the Doves do.

I am so fucking pumped to see this movie...this teaser kicks much ass. The music just blends perfectly, and the scenes chosen look so Woo it's not even funny. Can't believe we have to wait 6 months to see this one. Arg.

i've watched it about six times now. i saw it before Sleepy Hollow, and it was just cooooool. everyone thought it was cool at Sleepy Hollow. my buddy and our girlfriends all thought it was cool on the website. i love the music when he slips off the rock. it looks like a classic John Woo film. for everyone who wants real spies go watch The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. the original series was nowhere close to what real spies do. you would be bored after a half hour of watching some guy follow another guy who kow he's being followed. M:I was a blast, M:I2 might even be cooler ad mre fun. love the trailer. great job. glad to see the doves are in there.

First and foremost, I'd like to tell all those people out there that this trailer is too action-packed this: If you don't remember, the trailer for MI1 was all action too. So, quit your yapping. Woo's action, unlike all the other American film, has class and style. I don't know what you guys are taking, but Woo freakin' rules. Now, I know that this movie looks like it's going to be like the Matrix, like Harry said. That is what I'm freakin' pissed about. I know that a lot mainstream audiences haven't seen much of Woo's work and therefore accuse MI2 of copying the Matrix. For those of you out there who don't know, the Wachowski brothers has actually credited a lot of the Matrix to the Hong Kong film industry, which includes Woo. Practically all the gun work from the Matrix is simply everything Woo's done, only it's trippified. So, I am pissed that people will think MI2 is copying the Matrix when it's really the other way around. John Woo is far from overrated. As a matter of fact, he's is underrated. Face/Off, The Killer, Hard Boiled, and A Better Tommorrow kickes The Matrix's ass any day.
-
You people are mindless fucking idiots. Tom Cruise is practically in sole control of the Mission: Impossible property. He's not going to let the film be solely an action fest. The film is supposed to be a "romantic drama" as well as an action/adventure/suspense film. Robert Towne is a great writer who has practically become Tom Cruise's personal screenwriter. This film is not going to be Broken Arrow or Hard Target. If you're going to say John Woo "sucks", go watch Hard Boiled and try to tell me that he sucks. And is Brian DePalma any less of a "hack" than John Woo. This film is my "must-see" for the summer, with everything else a distant second. Trust me, Mission: Impossible 2 is going to make X-Men look like a live-action Pokemon. Just hearing Anthony Hopkins speak during the trailer is a fucking cream dream. Plus, Thandie Newton looks insanely hot. You're all going to eat your words.

Guys, why all the hostility? It's only a movie! However, that being said, all that thought that the trailer sucked are out of their minds! Everyone that thinks that John Woo is a lousy director just don't know what a good director is. This movie is going to rock regardless of what Cruise's hairstyle is (so long as he isn't bald, leave that to Ving Rhames PLEASE!). And for thos of you with the memory of a seive that say that this movie doesn't seem to have anything to do with Mission:Impossible, let's get something straight: THE FIRST MOVIE HAD SO LITTLE TO DO WITH THE MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE SERIES IT MIGHT AS WELL HAVE HAD ANOTHER TITLE!! Jim Phelps' character was in no way written properly. He would never have been a traitor. not a chance in hell! Killing off the entire IMF team in the first quarter of the film? Who wrote this shit? I'm looking forward to this movie. John Woo, Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, AND Sir Anthony Hopkins, whoa!! As Dr. Fever used to say: "Just sit back, relax, open your ears (and eyes) real wide, and say: GIVE IT TO ME STRAIGHT DOCTOR I CAN TAKE IT!"
