It rocks.
I was first.
Don't get excited. If it is anything like the turgid source material, The Hunter will be a chick flick in the guise of pseudo art film.

His aussie bashing was deplorable, considering the union action involved plenty of NZ actors, and it was the actors who asked the union to do something, not the other way around. The reporting of it all was unbalanced and incomplete, but I guess bad publicity is still better than no publicity.
Don't blame Jackson, blame that fucking idiot Simon Whipp -- he's a wannabe politician and causes a lot of harm. Aussie Actors Equity is a joke.
Remember that Jackson emphatically denied that Warners were looking for any kind of financial concessions from the NZ government. He was repeatedly questioned on this point - on national TV - and he repeatedly stated that Warners were not going to even ASK for any concessions. Jackson was absolutely adamant about this.
And yet that was a complete and utter lie. In the end, Warners sought for - and got - some financial concessions - sweetening the NZ deal for themselves by some tens of millions of dollars - something that they would not have got had the dispute not happened. So Warners actually came out of this in better shape than when they started - making it hard not to wonder if that wasn't what they wanted all along.
Still no apology from Jackson for misleading the viewing public. Not the first time he's done this.
But PJ and Warners played the dispute like politicians too.
I hate that everybody is giving Red a pass. It is terrible and everyone invovled should be ashamed of themselves. One of the worst movies I have ever seen. It is retarded and not funny or cool at all.
Sure, they played it as need be. But they didn't start the fight. 'nuff said.
I'd have pissed myself laughing at that last LOTR/Star Wars crack. :D
...except that it's closer to the truth than any of us would like. As the LOTR trilogy advanced, it became more and more influenced by the Star Wars prequels - to the point that that there is little to distinguish the last hour-or-so of Return Of The King from The Phantom Menace. It was sad to see the LOTR films slide so badly - especially since the first one was genuinely very promising for most of its running time.
I fear the worst for the 'two" Hobbit movies - I'd say Jackson is now so out of touch with the audience that The Hobbit will be reminiscent of the notorious Star Wars Chiristmas Special. Sure, the Star Wars/LOTR circle will then be complete - but there' are going to be a lot of VERY unhappy fans foaming at the mouth and screaming for Jack$on's blood..
Warners weren't initially seeking financial assurance. But when they smelled blood in the water, they went for it.
As any business with shareholders, and a giant unused shooting space (now Harry Potter has finished shooting) in England would.
PJ told it as he saw it, and the studio wouldn't necessarily be giving him the full story in any case.
LOTR is NOT a "trilogy" (well, dammit, the FILMS 'might' be described as one; at any rate:). it is IN FACT a single novel presented in three parts (mostly due to publishing concerns) with each part additionally devided into two 'books' each. Don't believe me? The six books originally had individual titles, which, um, escape me at the moment... stuff like "The Ring Goes South" "The Treason of Saruman" etc... LET THE TAIL ENDS COMMENCE! My walker is in perfect working order and I just changed my colostomy bag! Wait, eeww...
