Looks the part.
-
Another Marvel movie I'll never see.
-
looks ok but not fantastic. red skull? when shall we see him
-
Gay.
-
He's blonde in the "funnybooks" but maybe onscreen that would be too Hitler Youthish?
-
Wrong direction totally. This one just doesn't excite me at all. He's the Torch for crying out loud and the suit still sucks.
-
Enough with the comic adaptations, already. It's beyond played out.
-
Very all-American boy.
-
So far so good. But the look is the least of my worries for this flick *cough* Johnston's a hack *cough*. Please surprise me, Marvel and company...
-
Over the shoulders and around the chest, it would have given better texture on film then just plain fabric. Here is hoping the film will be good.
-
He kinda looks like a little kid, like some pedophiles' wet dream where he dresses up his thirty year old boyfriend like a child to get off.

Really sick of people saying they're really sick of superheroes
by spyguy
If you're that tired of them, why the hell are you posting on an article about them? Shouldn't you be looking for articles about a nice romantic comedy starring Jennifer Anniston or Katherine Heigl to enjoy?

It's a frickin' PAINTING of Chris Evans as Cap! >:O
by theghostwholurks
This ain't cool... it's an artist's rendering! Get back to us when you have an actual PHOTO to show us. >:(
-
Agreed
-
You heard me. I said, "HECK YES!!"
I live in Japan now, and there's something ridiculous and COMPLETELY delightful about a movie being released around the globe with the title "Captain America." Too awesome!
Makes me want to watch Special Forces again. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0324038/ -
Box office results say otherwise.
-
...than Thor. Thor seems destined for failure but I hope I'm proven wrong.
-
I wasn't all that interested in a Captain America movie when I first found out about it. But then I read a bunch of the comics based on some recommendations....and there is an awesome origin story and mythos there. Could be great if it is done right.
-
If he purses his lips a bit more it would be a perfect Blue Steel from Zoolaner...Which isn't a a good thing.
-
Isn't he supposed to? Captain America is the poster boy for Aryan perfection, yet he fights against the nazis. Who do the nazis have as their super-soldier, their hero? The Red Skull, a monstrous freak.
-
Projecting much?

Gee, didn't realize the internet was so precious & fragile
by gruntybear
Wah! If you don't like it, don't post! Wah! Bite me, children. Go back to slathering yourself with smurf-blue bodypaint and pretending you're a digital kitty-person. RAR, motherfuckers, RAR!
-
Everyone and their mother saw Spider-Man. You would be like the only one who frequents this site that didn't.
-
This is a FILM version of Captain America ADAPTED from the comic books. If you want to see a translation of comic books into a live-action medium, go to a Comic Con or settle for watching a cartoon.
Personally, I think Chris Evans looks great in the red, white and blue. I think the costume is realistic and practical, and I'm sure it will evolve over time. My only concern is Jonhston at the helm, since pretty much every movie he has ever made has sucked. Jurassic Park III? The Wolfman? Why does he keep getting hired?
I think the look is great, but that doesn't mean the movie will be. With the success of Iron Man, Johnston has some big shoes to fill. -
Check out Captain America #253-254. It had Roger Stern and John Byrne's take on Captain America battling Baron Blood and had a couple of the aged "modern day" Invaders.
-
I am really psyched for this Captain America. Chris Evans looks the part of Steve Rogers...and I'm slightly amazed that he does. Really, really looking forward to this movie.
-
The costume actually looks pretty cool, and Evans does NOT look gay,but he does look kinda dorky, much less studly than Id've expected.
-
To me Thor looks like its on the right track, my only problem is the little tag on characters they have. To me when you have mortal characters it sucks all the epic out of a scene. "Loki, you were my brother! look how far thou hath fallen!" (annoying mortal bitch walks into frame) "umm Thor you should like not fight your brother, cause fighting is bad..."
-
Hahaha poor fucking saps.
-
that a character who was originally designed to look as much like a United States flag as possible has been so toned down for the benefit of overseas box office.News flash: even if he's in black leather, the name "Captain America" is a dead giveaway, even if you hide it in the tagline "The First Avenger".Asshats.
-
. . . I'm guessing a LOT of trolls are just pretending to hate this.
-
Shouldn't you be watching THE VIEW or making a nice floral arrangement or something instead?
-
i'm not a huge cap fan, but if anyone can pull it off it's evans.
-
He looks gay
-
captain america: what a stupid concept. relly guys.
-
fucking stupid that its called The First Avenger. He is dressed up like the mother fucking U.S. flag! Whst are they going to do? change the costume for every region? "looks at another news site" in a
-
What the fuck is that? If it wasn't for the shield, that's all he'd be. Tony Romo meets Dick Cheney! Gay as fuck.
-
stupid PS3
-
whats with the pout?
-
Roger Staubach (the real Captain America) is coming over to kick your ass.
-
Like they could be brothers or something from the looks of this pic.
-
. . . this is just his WWII era outfit? By the present timeline, or at least by The Avengers film, I'm pretty sure he'll be in a costume much closer to what people are expectig.
-
That's the only reason why he beats up American soldiers in Guantanemo Bay and attacks the Tea Party in the comics, even though it goes COMPLETELY against his general character. Cap's often been used as a proxy by the hippies who wrote him, since the 1970s, when he unmasked one of his arch-enemies as President Richard Nixon. That's why he's respectful to Democrat Presidents, disdainful towards Republican ones and no longer fights versions of America's real-life enemies... liberals are offended by the idea and American "jingoism" in general. They're more than happy to profit from using him for their own ends, though.Ridiculously hypocritical, of course... but what do you really expect?
-
I only believe Thor is destined for failure because of the lack of popularity for the typical movie audiences. Y'know, "who's Thor?". Iron Man was able to overcome that because it was rooted in more of a modern-day scenario and had a great marketing strategy. Thor might appear (to the masses) to be on the cheesey end of the spectrum and looks like it's teetering on the SyFy Channel quality-side. Maybe it should've been made after The Avengers?
-
Shut up! You jerks whine about perfectly cool things just because you wallow in boredom. That's a pretty cool look, and the only thing you can say in response to said look is "Gay." Get a life.
-
I love how the costume is made out of cloth, which fits since the first movie takes place mostly during World War 2 when he was a super solder. We'll probably get a costume thats closer to the current comicbook outfit in the Avengers since he gets frozen at the end of Cap and dethawed in Avengers.
-
Just sayin'...
-
Shut up! You jerks whine about perfectly cool things just because you wallow in boredom. That's a pretty cool look, and the only thing you can say in response to said look is "Gay." Get a life.
-
Spewing vitriol as if he just learned how to curse. Grow up.
-
but it will plummet hard bc it's gonna suck donkey balls.
-
Your sophisticated foresight and analysis is truly stunning. What a stupendous breakdown of why you are so certain Captain America is going to fail.
-
Wow has this been air brushed.
-
Is this a precursor to the Adamantium version?
-
You people are nuts. Have you seen Thor lately? That's terrible.
-
yeah but why do THOR after? The masses would be even more lost if you just throw him in avengers without him having his own movie first without explaining who he is.
-
Evans has always been destined for bigger things
-
at least it isn't overblown and over the top. Remember the outfit from the Albert Pyun movie? Yikes!
-
Right?
-
forgive me in advance for being a super geek but his shield is not made out of Adamantium. it is forged from vibranium from wakana
-
My sincerest thanks to all the junior Bob Woodwards here at AICN. *Now* I don't have to glance at the cover of next week's EW as I walk into the local Borders Books & Music.Way to go the distance, fellas.
-
Looks okay I guess. It's tough to make such a bright and colorful costume fit into the real world.
-
FOX would sue end of story
-
There is nothing you can't do..
-
Arec Barrwin and the rest of the Film Actors Guild?
-
Superhero films ROCK HARD. Go eat a dick if you have a problem with that.
-
now has to purse his lips and pull a Blue Steel. The last poor sucker they made do this was Zachary Quinto. Seriously, WTF??
-
America to me. The true face would be of a white slave in chains with a 10 inch diameter American flag colored cock splitting the corners of his mouth, rammed balls deep and through the back of his head with a little thought bubble that reads- please sir my I have some more
-
I would have put a stop to this Blue Steel crap.
I don't know, maybe I'm crazy but this is not a very manly representation of FREAKING CAPTAIN AMERICA. -
and say, "Wow, that is just really bad! That has not aged well at all!" Well, imagine how bad something is when most people say it's bad it looks when it FIRST comes out. Like THIS.
-
I am completely underwhelmed...I'll go see it, but this cover does absolutely nothing for me. Here's hoping.
-
is Captain America! I was also unsure about Johnny Storm stepping into Steve Rogers' shoes but I think he looks awesome. Cap is in my top 4 heroes (DD, GL, Supes) so I couldn't be more psyched up for it. Bring on Zola and the Skull!
When Captain America throws his mighty shield, all those who oppose his shield must yield! I'm giddy in anticipation. I mean...we get Thor, Cap, AND Green Lantern next summer?? I feel like a dog whose master just dropped a filet mignon in my bowl. "Really, all this is for me? This is mine? Sweeeeeet" -
I realize its much cooler these days to instantly proclaim everything as "suck" or "gay" but I'm going to be 1st in line for this so blow me.
-
Where ignorant meets stupid.
-
He kinda looks like a serious Captain Jack Harkness....
-
...he's puckering up to kiss each and everyone of our backsides. I love you Cap'n America, but for me I only have eyes for Cap'n Britain.
-
looks AWESOME!!!--Evan's acting, well thats another story.
-
It looks plain goofy.
-
The shield looks really cool though.
-
pucker your lips. like that, yeah, but more. more. more. like you're kissing a billiard ball. come on. PUCKER YOUR LIPS. PUCKER YOUR LIPS MORE.
-
Now I'm really impressed! You sound like the type of moron who gets mad if he can't get his action figure to pose correctly. How old are you? I assume you still live with your mommy? HAHAHAHAHAW
-
He's toned down a bit because he would look like danny la roo on screen else.
-
this character alive so many years. The ones in assless chaps at this very moment
-
Am I the only one who finds this comment hilariously ironic? Funny line though.
-
Make Thor's character THE BADASS in The Avengers. Get the interest level up that way and then make a Thor flick. Make him the dark horse hero somehow. There were no real origins for some of the X-Men characters in the first movie. I would say make his origin a part of the Avengers, but I think they will probably concentrate more on how Cap got in the modern world. This is a fanboy thinking out of his ass, I admit.
-
You mean it looks Exactly like the picture of you taken at your 10th birthday party last year!
-
Not that impressed, if he does some matrix shield throw crap it'll probably be ok though. It has the potential to be an overhyped daredevil thing though.
-
sorry i dont like it. :(
-
Steve Rogers is supposed to have a substantial amount of muscle. Evans isn't built for carrying a large physique, so what were they thinking?
Instead, I see someone who could have fit the Winter Soldier routine, an adult Bucky who takes over the mantle. Steve Rogers isn't there. He just isn't. -
Just disapointed. Sorry. The actor they had in the 80s show was bulit much better as a Captain America. Even the 1991(?) movie had an actor more suited for the role. And dont get me started on Chris' hair. WHERE ARE THE FLOWING BLOND LOCKS? Please. They have a lot of territory to overcome.
PS. Entertainment Weekly HAS THE WORST COVER ART!!! How do they ever expect to sell thier rags with art like that. Vewry reminiscent of Star Trek 09. They never learn, do they? -
that they have the same fucking structure over and over and over again and that's why they ARE played out. I'm always interested to see a character portrayed in real life but not to sit through 2 hours of predictable shit just to be teased with "oh you have to wait 3 years for the sequel where it really gets good" fuck that.
-
Wasting our precious oxygen supply. What an irrelevant, immature, unintelligent thing you are. When you can actually contribute to humankind instead of detract from it, only then will you be taken seriously by anyone with an IQ above 30. Until then, let's be honest, we all know you are nothing but a detriment to society. I don't even think a lab would accept your corpse for the advancement of science since that would fly in the face of anything decent coming from it.
-
That he going to run around with the mask off for 3/4s of this film?
-
It chops his chest into thirds... instead of a broad chest with a central star, it's disjointed... makes him look weaker. Bad design decision.
Otherwise, looks great. -
i agree with u. superhero movies are here to stay. they are not just a trend anymore they are a new genre of movies. just like horror and comedy.
-
I think you might be onto something there. If they pull that, a lot of people will be pissed...
-
Looks good to me!
-
looks more like Captain Future to me.
-
Glad they lightened his hair a bit, unless that's Photoshop fun.
-
actually that was in the 1991 Captain Am movie in which for the most part he was running around without the costume (plastic ears included) it's reminiscent of those cheesy hulk tv shows in which banner hulks out twice; before the first 30 minutes and after the last 50 minutes.
-
Hopefully there is a pic with the mask/helmet inside the mag. Looks good so far, though.
-
Spider-Man, Iron Man, Daredevil, Hulk have all been represented in their respective movies adhering pretty close to their comic book costume designs, and none of them looked particularly randy. And whereas I agree that some costumes need alteration to not look silly on the screen (X-Men comes to mind), some, like Superman and Cap are iconic and shouldn't be messed with. In the particular instance of Captain America, the whole campaign seems to be to downplay the "America" aspect as much as possible -- most likely so as not to offend worldwide ticket sales. I find this particularly offensive in that the movie producers should embrace the character for what he is and what he stands for, or not stand to make profit from the icon to begin with. It just seems like an extremely crass move.
-
Yeah, real 1945 happening there.
-
Rhymes with Meh. I'm done with you. You bore me.
-

Looks ok, but it's telling that they don't show the helmet.
by royston lodge
So say we all.
-
... he looks exactly how he should look in the first movie, the WWII one. He can always beef up a bit more for the Avengers one, but this is the look of the Cap in the 40s.
-
PROVE THAT THEIR MOTHERS SHIT THEM OUT OF THEIR ASSES AFTER STARRING IN IN AN ALL ANAL GANG BANG MOVIE. TEH(THAT'S THE FEY SPELLING OF THE WORD THE) (COCK)SUCKER AND GRUNTBEAR(GRUNTING BECAUSE HE TURNS CHICKEN HAWK TRICKS) ARE THE TOUGH GUYS OF PANSY FUNNY BOOK READER, WHICH MEANS THEY ARE TOTAL BOTTOMS.
also TEH SUCK WILL YOU KILLING YOURSELF ON NOV 3 OR THREATENING TO MOVE OUT OF THE UNITED STATES AND NOT FOLLOW THROUGH SINCE YOUR PARENTS WON'T GIVE YOU THE MONEY? AFTER ALL A "MAN" SUCH AS YOU ISN'T EMPLOYABLE EXCEPT AS A COMMUNICABLE DISEASE TESTER. -
Sounds like it.
-
I'm a man of few words, and I don't feel the need to explain why it will suck donkey balls because that picture says everything. If it doesn't happen to suck donkey balls (10% chance), I will be more than happy to admit I was wrong.
-
Headline from next year.
-
Better than expected, actually. And if you don't like it, well... I wouldn't be surprised if Avengers has him in a newer more high tech costume. This one is meant to be a pseudo-realistic costume made in the WWII era.
-
And where the hell is the head piece? What's the point of the superhero costume if it's not complete? I'm looking YOU Tobey Spider-Man.
-
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
-
Movie should be be moderately interesting.
-
or marvel and kevin feige will replace him before Avengers even begins shooting.
-
Of course the irony is the Dems calling people "TeaBaggers" whilst voting for the clearly homosexual obama....
no straight man who actually loves freedom would actually have voted for that teleprompter-addicted tard'.... -
I never followed Capt America. What's so special about him? If he can't heal from wounds extraordinarily quickly, I ain't interested. If the whole movie is pretty boy running around in gay colors, forget it.
-
did you see the incredible hulk movie. What they gave tim roth is what they give cap. with out the mutating side effects.
-
considering how awful most of the superhero movies look these days. I'm diggin' the WW2 look, which I thought for sure they wouldn't use.
-
... trying to kill your dreams of a decent Cap movie? Only Disney execs may ever know.
-
I've got no complaints, although I'm pretty positive that a good deal here will find shit to bitch and moan about.
-

Did you guys see that pic of new Superman?
by john_lithgows_crusty_balls
That reimagined emo Superman makes me want to punch someone at DC right in the face. And what the hell does Superman have to look all sullen about anyway? Makes me want to kick him in his steel scrotum with kryptonite-toed boots.
-
lighten the fuck up! Why must so many people insist on acting like the Comic Book Guy stereotype people make fun of??
-
I want to see it.
-
I'm DrMorbius and I love cock in my mouth and ass. Well we really don't care but I'm still going to make fun of you because you are the last politically correct demographic to demonize.
-
Captain America should be a MAN,not a pretty boy ffs.
-
But im not complaining, i see captain america right there, great job evans
-
Stupid Adam Sandler movies easily make that in 3-4 weeks. Remember that there is a whole world outside of America out there that loves Hollywood product. It something lesser known to the masses like "Watchmen" can open to 60 million, "Wanted" to 55 million, and "The Incredible Hulk" to 50+ Million (after a dull audience rejected part 1) "Captain America" will easily recoup it's budget and set out to do what it was made to do, introduce CA to everyone before "The Avengers".
-
"Thor" cost around the same amount, but if next Summer is as boring as last Summer, I'm sure if it's released on an empty weekend, people will see it as well... Everyone is bitching about it online, but I bet the glut of initial reviews on here will be that "it's surprisingly good". Then everyone will see it. And if it flops, people on AICN will talk about how underrated it is and how it "Broke Even" like "Kick-Ass". And if it is a success, people here will for whatever reason start sucking Nolan's cock and say "Thor" is awful and that you're waiting for Nolan's "Batman: Rise of the Missing Action Sequences from Parts 1 and 2."
-
You said almost word for word what I was gonna say: "Captain America should be a MAN, not a pretty boy". Actually I think if he had a high and tight haircut (Not the kevin Sorbo swish) it might have done the job. Evans is looking a little older than when he did FF.
-
jesus you all sound like a bunch of 12 year old xbox live cunts who have no better or more creative way to express your ridiculous angst than to call something "gay"
-
I am a HUGE fan of Thor. I even have a tattoo of both the comic and the Norse versions of Mjolnir on each arm. The images I've seen do not excite me at all. I would have preferred a rough take on the costumes, not the Batman and Robin-ified Kirby-esque outfits. They look like crap.
-
see that's the problem with comic movies/fans....if they are too faithful to the comics costumes some people complain it looks cheesy, if they make the costumes look more realistic some people complain they aren't faithful enough.
-
...looks like he's about to pass gas.
I do like the costume though, so there's that.
-
goes well with the whole 1940's Norman Rockwell look
-
...all of you!
The guy looks awesome! -
Agreed, but costumes can be massaged to work. For example, Spiderman's raised webbing costume actually looked better than the original. maybe not at first, but it did work well. If you look up images of the current re-imagining of Thor done by Olivier Coipel, that is an upgrade (IMHO) and could be used almost exactly and it would look great.
-
... WITH LOTS OF WIZARDS AND ALTERNATE UNIVERSES AND THE BLACK KNIGHT. AND SHIT.

I think the steriods made Evan's nose bigger.
by the reluctant austinite
I mean, this poor actor LITERALLY must have been injected with the steroids equivalent of the Super Soldier Serum. I actually like the outfit. I hope he wears the mask/helmet when in action. Thor has yet to be shown wearing his helmet. "Spider-man 3" had Peter Parker taking off the mask as soon as possible whenever possible.
-
is awesome..the movie will probably be pretty good. teabaggers are douches. that is all. BCP out.
-
....where the hero hasn't taken off his mask at every opportunity?
-
after batman 3 is released. After that, they will linger on tv for a few years, then die off.
-
anyway... noticed that they have a bunch more photos here http://www.comicbookmovie.com/captain_america/news/?a=24543
old school shield! -
I'm not any kind of rah-rah patriot (nor should any sensible person be), but what kind of timid crap is it to half-cover the star on his chest with some random strap? Pathetic timid crap, that's what kind. I hope this film works; frankly, it's pretty gutsy to do a period flick like this these days. If everyone brings their best game, it can work. (Kind of like Thor in that respect.)This image is too much garbage Photoshop, but overall I like what they've got going for this one. If they can find a way to make him truly come across on screen as the most badass athlete and fighter around - without resorting to a bunch of modern-martial-arts nonsense - that's most of the battle for me.

Argh! It's not bad, but it looks like it was made today, not in the 40s! That's the whole point!
Also, the whole stripes motif around his midriff doesn't work when he takes his backpack off. Then he's just a guy with a white belly.
Shit though, he sure looks the part. -
As far as the overall look goes, I'm cool with it. Looks fine.
-
I'm actually liking the design ethic for this film...
-
*pouts lips*
-
I'll reserve further judgment until I see it in action
-
And I'm really skeptical about the casting.
Looking forward to Thor, though. -
Why is it that there are so many negative comments about how Chris Evans looks as Capt. America when it is just a publicity still on the front of EW Magazine?
Just like with Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern...people are saying "Oh, both movies are going to suck"...blah, blah, blah blahhhh...we haven't even seen a single trailer for either film, we have seen the actors in their costumes as the self titled Superheroes (remember how "bad" people thought the X-Men costumes looked based on publicity stills are single stills from the movies? But also, remember how those costumes finally looked and how decent the first film really was!!)
All I am saying is people...hold off on the negative comments until we actually SEE some action footage which I hope will be soon... -
Its statue of CA in the movie costume that is going to be released soon:

I like they gave him a helmet. -

this one looks to the the most ludicrous. Having a hack director doesn't help matters....
While we are on the subject - how about easing up a bit on the superhero movie assembly line for a moment or two.
TOO. MUCH. -

the rocketeer was one of the best super hero films ever and it was

This guy could barely pass for Bucky. Captain America was a patriarch not some snotty nosed kid. Fuck this movie. Marvel jumped the shark when they started hiring third rate directors.

If they are doing the sacrilege of replacing Williams' Superman
by killik
Theme instead of updating it,then this reboot is already in the wrong track.yeah i know separating from the Donnerverse, creating a new universe etc,but changing the Superman theme is like chaning the James Bond theme, the SW theme, the IJ theme and so on.FUCK.
-
Where else is he going to keep all his make up??
-
although, it does seem a bit over produced with some of that PS airbrushing. I'm excited, but, I really need to see Cap in action in the war environment to get a good handle on it. I'm optimistic, tho.
-
The first shield is awesome as well.
-
You are only half-right. The Super Soldier Serum they gave to Cap was the only one of it's kind. The stuff they gave Blonsky in IH was an attempt to replicate it. It wasn't the same thing. Cap is the only one of his kind.

You guys need to sort your shit out. Us and Them isn't going to fix any of your problems. In fact, I think that Tea Party versus... Whatever The Democrats Call Themselves... is little more than a distraction, and while the situation in both your country and the world worsens on every front, your political machine is the equivalent of two playground bullies trying to outsnarl each other and distracting all the monitors while little Jeffery is getting the shit kicked out of him behind the portables. The thing I like about Captain America is that he represents an ideal of freedom and truth and justice that the real America has long since ceased to be... but could be, and should be, again.
-
The American release is 18 days after the 4th of July? Hmm, they must really be counting on that extra 18 days of post-production improving the final product... because releasing the film 4th of July weekend in the states seems like a no-brainer. Anyway, I'm one of the people who has complete confidence in Evans... I've come away very impressed with him in movies like "Sunshine" and "London." I'm much more concerned about the Red Skull makeup, because if Weaving looks like a 6-foot tall herpe, the movie is dead. And I have my reservations about Johnston, too. But I'm sure I'll be there sometime during the opening week.
-
Most of these pics from before the film give off a different impression than those in the flick, but I get a good sense from this one photograph. I'm rooting for this movie, and I've been cautiously optimistic ever since they said the film would take place during WWII. Oh and for all the people who think he looks too young, the average age of a WWII soldier was 26 and I believe Chris Evans is 29.

TO HELL WITH ANY SUPERMAN FILM WITHOUT WILLIAMS' SCORE
by the krypton kid
-
If only he was into cock like his brother.
-
First the Human Torch and now this!?
-
First the Human Torch and now this!?
-
HES AN ALIEN GOD! I THINK HE SAYING "JAFFA KREE" WHICH MEANS FUCK YOUR MOTHER IN SPANISH
-
I just don't. There are better stuff out there.
-
Oh, wait - we have them already. The costume looks fine and John Williams Superman score will always exist - by that line of stupid inward thinking then Danny Elfman should never have composed his Batman Theme and should have just used the NANANANANANANANA NANANANANANANA BATMAN BATMAN BATMAN theme. Only with more organs.Look at the other photos and you'll see that there will be an evolution of the costume even in this film - I am stoked that they are using his non round shield in some sequences in the film.
-
Cant wait for this, but can we see some Red Skull please. Like the look of Cap though think the costume is spot on dont get why the haters are saying it looks crap as it seems a pretty acurate representation of the suit and likes its been pointed out when the Avengers comes out they will put a modern twist on it for sure.
-
In other words, he does not look like a tough guy. The haircut alone is strictly middle school.
-
Looks like a frigging waxwork..
Did Pixar do this?
House of Mouse - Sort out Blade IV asap!!
-
...I actually think that he looks awesome as Cap. I love the functional look of the suit. It looks like a uniform you'd wear into battle, but it also has the superhero feel to it. Plus, the shield looks awesome. I definitely like the battle damage on the shield.
-
No, just kidding. I love superhero movies. I love the fact that we live in a time that these characters can now fully exist on a movie screen instead of newsprint. Keep making them, Marvel and DC, and make them awesome. I love CGI too because it's a tool that helps bring the director's vision to reality. Sure, it may not be perfect but I have a sad tendency to suspend disbelief before I go into any film — with or without visual effects.
-
I'm turned on so much right now, I wonder if he waxed his chest?
-
Il pass thanks
-
Check em out. Looks really good.
-
with that squichy tough guy face he's trying to make. He doesn't really pull it off. Most actors are not convincing tough guys no matter how hard Hollywood tries to sell them as such. I like the choice of the Caps WWII outfit though.
-
...fuck Captain America. At least GLs production design looks like it's gonna make some bold cinematic moves.

I think it looks badass, and here are the inside images . . .

-
At least it's not Flash "Ah-AHHH!" Gordon with a big hammer and a beard.
-
or will he have a more comic acurate version at the end when he's in present day and for avengers and whatever other movie he shows up in?
-
it was an adamantium/vibranium composite.
-
b/c his hair line is exactly like mine, not brat pitts.

Remove the spaces, of course -
Not Tom Cruise gay, but gay all the same.

I AM AICN!!!

My guess is that it's either for a bag to carry additional gear or maybe a rifle strap (The earlier motorcycle stunt pictures showed his with a Thompson sub-machine gun). So it won't always be there. Let's not forget that this takes place in the middle of World War II, so he'd need to carry enough stuff to last more than a day. As far as the two shoulder straps are concerned, it would be really cool if they are part of a harness system to which interchangeable packs can quickly attached for different missions. Like a precursor to the current M.O.L.L.E system). Hell, maybe even a parachute. It would make perfect sense for America's "ultimate weapon." It's implied that Howard Stark designs all of Cap's gear in the movie, so should be expected that it's "ahead of its time."
-
He really looks like a dude from the 40s with that hair.
-
but the uniform looks a bit baroque? Busy? Like you can see the costume designer's fingerprints all over it, instead of something a genuine guy from that era would cook up himself. Or maybe I don't know shit and the costume I'm talking about actually would look more like Dollar Bill's from Watchmen and that is precisely why they rejected it.
-
It's staying away from Transformers 3, which has claimed the July 4th Weekend slot... Wise choice given that part 2 inexplicably made 400 million domestic.
-
Nathan Fillion with short hair.
-
Then ask me if I like it.
-
You are quite mistaken. Civil war is a real possibility in the country in the next few years.
-
The suit, and evans looks like a winner. All we need is a good story, and action= win!
-
Fuck you.

Captain America - Snippets from a review from the future
by miyamoto_musashi
"Captain America will be seen in years to come as Marvel's first real slip up in the modern era and really a missed opportunity."
"Normally Joe Johnston is known for putting in mediocre performances behind the camera and is usually consistent in his mediocre direction, they are your 4-6 out of 10 type reviews
, fans would have been hoping for a 6/10 (or a miracle) this was however closer to a 4/10 performance."
"The biggest suprise for me was Chris Evans, he has never been a strong actor and I originally thought he was unsuitable for this role as he has come across boyish, when the role clearly needed a man. "
"But even with a script that was horrid at times, and some terrible direction by the end of the film for me Evans came across as Captain America, hopefully with some better writing for the Avengers movie, Evans can expand on it and excel."
"Hugo Weaving, a brilliant actor, also did very well considering the script and direction, I think in years to come he will be somewhat embarassed that he was associated with this movie, but he did a great job."
"I personally don't have anything against Joe Johnston, but it amazes me he continues to get work."
"With buildup to next years Avengers movie things are looking a little shaky for Marvel. A few years ago it started very strong with Iron Man, downhill a little to Iron Man2, with Thor pretty much being on par with IM2 fun but not incredible and now downhill again for this"
"Fans would be a little bit worried with Joss Whedon an inexperienced big screen director (but accomplished on the small screen) behind one of the most ambitious movies in many years. Hopefully Joss can put Marvel back on track" -
He doesn't even look the part. Maybe he could pull of Bucky, but he's no Steve Rogers. This one's gonna have to wait to be a rental for me.
-
I am still holding out for a cool Avengers movie. Is there a tentative release date yet like 2012 or something?
-
I'll wait until we see some actual trailers; they tend to be my rule of thumb for going to the theater, or waiting a few months for it to air on HBO. Best to reserve judgment for the time being- I'm speaking only for myself there, of course. I will give GL a shot, though- I only go to matinees anyway, so if it's not so good, I'm only out 10 bucks. So Cap's costume is a variation on the classic look- I'm fine with that, it isn't worth getting all bent out of shape over. It's just a movie, after all, and perfect films are vanishing rare. Harvey and To Kill A Mockingbird are perfect films; this is escapist fun. Nothing more.
-
To all the superhero movies teased and tormented by homophobic talkbacker freaks, please don't despair and kill yourselves. It gets better.
-
Head over to Collider.com for the details. I don't know what the fanboi's will have left to bitch about now, since Fox has done everything they've asked.
-
his face looks terribly photoshopped, almost like a young Dolph Ludgren [sp??]
-
What'd it say ?
-
Damn, that was fast. Bascially it's going to faitfully follow Frank Millers Japan Story Arch, with Silver Samuri being the main villain.
-
Definitely going Golden Age here, huh? Hey, are those supposed to be bullet scars, or is Gollum dropping turds on Cap's shield?
-
the Confederacy and German Army, and what gives with brown boots and gloves? But we'll never get a faithful aesthetic in this day & age...not sure how this looks 40's-esque yet, but we'll see. And to those upthread: Cap was created by two liberal jewish men, Kirby staunchly so, by accounts, yet the character should be apolitical and respectful. FDR was his CIC remember.

This looks like a gay version of Captain America!!!
-
...it looks gay can go suck a cock. It doesn't look gay it looks awesome! Now bend over so he can stick his cock in your ass so you actually know what 'gay' is.
-
....its the Human Torch. seriously though who thought this guy could play Cap?
-
This whole thing has grown on me overnight. Thank you for whomever posted the C.A. statue pic.

When the three-part hit of a failed THOR movie, a failed CAP movie and the (hopefully not too late to be cancelled forever like JUSTICe LEAGUE) failed AVENGERS movie all start to hit screens, the revolt against the screwheads wgho put this all together will begin amongst the Disney stockholders. That revolt being the stock will tank. Have fun Disney!

soldier,patriot,hero,FAG

I just wanted to add something I forgot in my last post. I want nothing more than for this movie to work. I just don't trust it.
-
If you're sick of superhero movies, why are you reading this article? If you go out of your way to read stuff you know you won't like, no wonder you're a depressice schmuck. And why tell us about it? Consumed by a driving urge to to throw your contempt for a genre in the face of people who DO like it? Sounds like cause for therapy, to me...
-
Cap looks good to me and I will go see it based just on this little bit. I love period type movies and I do love The Rocketeer in all its cheesiness.
Thor.....abomination on ice. Period.
Oh and I like Chris Evans AND Ryan Reynolds so I think I will give both Cap and GL a shot. It certainly can't be worse than Spiderman 3. -

I AM AICN!!!

That probably doesn't bother anybody else but me though.
-
How can you beat WWII-era Captain America?
Awesome. Love the color palette they're going for. Fits the 40s very nicely. -
not the movie.
-
I live in Iceland and its awesome to see Captain America showing up all over the place. Team America..FUCK YA!
-
about Evans and the film - you will be first in line opening weekend. So what does that make you?
