“GoodFellas” author/screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi tells Culture Magazine that Martin Scorsese himself wants to be involved with Pileggi’s proposed “Goodfellas” TV prequel. Scorsese, who recently directed the pilot for HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” of course directed the 1990 “Goodfellas” movie.
"I want to do it, Marty wants to do it, Warner Bros wants to do it. Of course, you can't [do a sequel to] ‘Goodfellas,’ since we murdered everybody, or rather, everybody was murdered! There's nobody left."
The project is still in the pitching phase and no channel is yet involved. Hopefully it’s headed for pay cable so we don’t have to hear lines like “Now go get your frickin’ shinebox!”
