I loves me some Caprica. Fuck the haters.
-
but the death of Tomas Virgis last week was a keeper!
-
Which counts as high praise for the SyFy network.
-
Shit was boring. I'm all for space soap opera and I love Stoltz but shit was boring. I think the actress who plays Zoe. She sucks.
-
The first 3 eps lived on my DVR until this past weekend, but I've been pleasantly surprised at the plot that is unfolding. I'm very interested and excited to see how the whole situation dealing with apotheosis and the toaster is going to shake out. I can see where they're going with it, but it is still a little fuzzy. If SyFy decides to cut bait and run I hope they at least explain the connection. And Zoe kicks ass. Love her.
-
Was because it was HD on Demand 6 months ago when I was laying on my couch with a broken ankle. It depressed me, but I didn't have to load the DVD player. I couldn't bring myself to continue watching this return. BSG was better, although Morales and Stoltz are good in their parts

what about a sons of anarchy talkback? the shows really getting good now

you would think fedora will make this show popular

sci-fi version of Mad Men. I guess people dont like serious sci-fi.

They though tthey were bigger than they are, and decided to show both series during the main TV season and went up against the major networks, and got their ass kicked for it. Both shows would have gotten 4 x the ratings if shown mid-season, now because of this both might be cancelled. SYFY KNOW YOUR PLACE!
-
Get the Frak off my TV and come back when you have space battles!
-
it looks and smells like BSG, i dont see the difference.
-
wish they make stuff like that for SGU
-
Not one character is likable. <p> at the end of any episode, every character is so damaged or devious or lost, its impossible for viewers to relate to one character out of the cast.
-
I confess... i don't wantch anymore myself, so maybe it's changed, but the whole first season ( or first half whatever you want to call it ) was soooooooo boring. It wasn't BSG at all except for like 5 minutes an episode.
-
Well done
-
Cylon War soon. Isn't the conflict over a decade long anyway? It'd segway into the new series well.
-
...because at the beginning of every ep in the 'previously' they print EACH character's name on screen, not seen that with any show before, and it feels lame.
-
I don't understand all the people complaining that this show sucks because there's no action. Why can't there be a science fiction drama?
-
Of Twilight Zone. Where are the space battles and action? That is probably the greatest sci-fi show ever made. Caprica is no TZ, but I enjoyed season 1.5 for what it was, and I find these recent episodes to be a large step forward. They just needed to get the whole thing moving a hell of a lot faster. I hope its not too late. I want to at least see the story resolved and the war started. As for Blood and Chrome? Most of these characters would still be alive at that point. Include them.
-
this new season has been terrific.
-
I just picked up season 1 on blu-ray a few days ago and have watching it steadily. I use to love this show when I was a kid but hadn't seen it since. Its even better then I remember.
-
I want to like this show so much, but I just feel like they're telling the wrong story. Unless all the V-world business eventually manifests to such an extent that you learn everything we saw in BSG was V-world and we get a whole new series with the old BSG crew in the "real" world. Yikes. That would be horrible. But seriously, I like the inter-planet politics, but the V-world business ... I just don't think it has any dramatic merit. They just haven't found the right story. But they're in so deep now, there's no way out without cutting it loose and starting over.
-
Wish they'd count dvd and foreign sales into the numbers tho... I cant believe they cant make money with a smart show like this. Truth is geeks I know tune out of tv because so many good smart shows got an early end. The jungle like darwinian nonsense of short term ratings is killing the medium. I avoid investing myself into shows until years later now... I havent seen LOST or most of Supernatural yet because I didnt think they would survive and then havent gotten around to watching because I was too far behind in episodes... Movies are so much easier to follow and invest ones time and interest in.
-
It's on the up and up, but with the NBA starting tonight, expect some nasty overnight numbers.
-
Think this show is maturing splendidly. It has a very deliberately dream-like pace (which *could* use tightening at points, to be sure) that is part of its tone. This is a risk, but suits the material so well I could scarcely imagine in moving too much more briskly and still being the same show. The complexity of characterization is given time to unfold, and that works for me. The CGI work by Zoic has me simply thunderstruck. It reveals a state of the art which is hard on the heels of the photo-real. Stunning!
-
I was on the verge of giving up on this show, but I've enjoyed the last two episodes. I never minded the slow developing plot, it was more the feeling that the show was spinning it's wheels waiting for a plot to arrive. Loved the Cylon on Human violence.
-
If this show gets another season (which would be surprising), they should get on to the whole Cylon War thing , the show has no direction , shit writing , and shit actors . <br> <br> It needs less cheesy "Matrix" action crap in V world ,and more story . Caprica could have been "I-Robot" meets "Mad Men" (like someone else here said) , such a waste...
-
but I fear it is too little, too late. It looks like maybe they are beginning to find their voice. <P> The network didn't even bother to promo next weeks episode. They showed a promo for Sanctuary instead. I fear cancellation is imminent.

i would rather have a good Caprica than Cylon War
by DioxholsterOperationsOutpost
if they could get us into that bladerunner world and really grip us, wow. But war with cylons again? seems they will make it for the ADD demographic.
-
Shame that Caprica's cancellation is all but official what with the fact they are no longer creating new promotional materials like the caprican blog. The show is looking so good...
-
BSG prequel stuff aside, it's just a very well written and acted little drama.
-
It's high-concept sci-fi, without a lot of action, and to the casual viewer you would probably need to have already seen the BSG series to get the most out of it.<p> No matter how good the show is, it was never going to find a big audience.
-
I commented a long time ago that none of the characters on this show are not likeable. They have very little or no redeeming value. Most soap operas have characters you love to hate. This shows characters are at best creepy in a bad way or just plain dispicable. The Cylon to be is your protagonist? How do you pull for a character that you know is going to lead human race being wiped out? How did SyFy get bagged into this show?
-
is they took a pilot script by Rene Aubuchon about Greystone that explored similar themes to BSG and grafted the Adamas onto it. The end result is the lack of focus that has plagued the first half of this season. <P> There are previews up on HULU and the SKiffy site that show improvement.
