Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Deadline is reporting that Francis Ford Coppola has quietly been filming a "thriller with overtones of horror" in Napa. This film is called TWIXT NOW AND SUNRISE and is based on a short story by Coppola.
Val Kilmer is starring as a horror novelist. Co-starring are Elle Fanning and Bruce Dern.
Seriously, how crazy-awesome is this news? I liked Tetro and Youth Without Youth for what they were, but I'd love it if Coppola made a film for audiences again and not just himself if you know what I mean. Not that he has to pander, just that both his recent films are very personal and I almost feel like I'm watching him tell stories to himself when watching.
But I'm so psyched for this new thriller. Great title, great cast... Kilmer's been on the cusp of a comeback since KISS KISS BANG BANG and Bruce Dern is always, ALWAYS worth watching... and I'm a sucker for thrillers or horror stories featuring a horror novelist as their protagonist. I guess I have Stephen King to thank for that.
