The New Gwen, Emma Stone, Hosted This Weekend's SNL!!
Emma Stone (“Superbad,” “The House Bunny,” “Zombieland,” “Easy A”) plays the new Gwen Stacy in Sony’s big-screen “Spider-Man” reboot. And she cut some promos with Andy Samberg:
SNL RETURNS WITH TWO BACK-TO-BACK SHOWS STARTING WITH EMMA STONE AND MUSICAL GUEST KINGS OF LEON ON OCTOBER 23
October 30 – Host Jon Hamm With Musical Guest Rihanna
New York, NY – October 8, 2010 – SNL returns with two back-to-back live shows starting on October 23rd with actress Emma Stone and musical guest Kings of Leon.
Most recently seen in the feature film comedy, "Easy A," Emma Stone is currently filming "The Help." Stone can next be seen opposite Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling in "Crazy, Stupid, Love" due out April 2011.
Kings of Leon will make their second musical guest appearance debuting new songs from their fifth studio album, “Come Around Sundown.” The album is a follow-up to their 2008 album “Only By The Night,” which won the group four Grammy’s including Record of the Year.
Jon Hamm will serve as host for his third time on October 30. Hamm is the star of the multiple Emmy award-winning series "Mad Men," and currently can be seen alongside Ben Affleck, Blake Lively and Rebecca Hall in "The Town."
Grammy award-winner Rihanna will make her second musical guest appearance with performances from her soon to be released fifth studio album, “Loud.” Rihanna’s singles continue to top the Billboard charts, including her latest single, “Only Girl (In the World).”
“Saturday Night Live" is produced in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels.
I’ve no clue who hosts after Jon Hamm!

It's still Friday as I type this.
-
First Bryce Dallas Howard, now Emma?
-
natural blonde
-
I thought I was a full day ahead and that Saturday had already passed me by while typing this... that's what working odd hours will do to you, I guess! Emma Stone has natural comic timing, let's see if the writers can actually utilize her correctly, they sure as hell didn't for Brian Cranston.
-
or did Emma Stone go from being somewhat pretty in "Superbad" to a semi-major hottie in "Zombieland"? God knows that's a narrow time window, but *something* evolved quite noticeably during that interim period.
I still don't think much of her as an actress, but she *does* have a winning way about her. Sometimes that's enough.
-
So Stone will be the only Gwen. And if we're lucky, the next flick will be good enough to make us forget S3. Much like Nolan's Batman films are erasing the memory of, you know, that other Batman film.
-
I thought she was supposed to be hot?
-
Seriously -- have we ever gotten to the bottom as to why RDJr., an alum, has not hosted SNL, especially over the last few years? There is arguably no one else more deserving or who would be more awesome, but maybe they don't have room, what with all the self-indulgent Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and John Hamm hostings.
-
I repeat, someone spoke ill of Hamm. This just won't do.
-
season 22, episode 6 with Fiona Apple
-
I really do. Lohan, Emma Stone, Laura Prepon, Demi Moore, Brittany Murphy, who else? Oh, the freckles are hot, too. So Stone is okay in my book. As is Lohan, who was a memorable host of SNL a few years back, especially her Hermione sketch. I remember reading back then that some cast members, including Tina Fey, sat Lohan down and tried to talk some sense into her -- this was just when the stories of her partying were starting to come out. I'm glad Stone seems to have avoided that kind of shit.
-
She turned out some interesting songs back in the day.
-
She's said it's a dream come true. I bet she'd be willing to be a cast member if they asked her. And I bet she's be amazing.
-
It's kookoobananas!!!!
-
Am I the only one who thought BTH was ridiculously hot as Gwen Stacey in S3? Something about her slightly cross-eyed eyes and the blonde hair.
-
She looks and sounds PERFECT for Mary Jane. Wasn't it reported that that's who she was playing? GWEN STACY? Are you kidding me? These casting imbeciles need a Goblin pumpkin ball to the ... pumpkin balls. Seriously, this is pathetic.
-
Talking about Zombieland. http://tinyurl.com/34czuj3 "I really like that girl Emma. She's funny. She's really, really got it," Murray says. "I had to be out [cold in a shot] and they had to be talking over me. They did 15 or 20 takes and she made me laugh every single time. I had everything I could do to stay dead. It was really funny."
-
For those too lazy to search. http://tinyurl.com/3y3xkn7 I don't think this girl can take a bad photo.
-
How's that? :)
-
3 months. It doesn't mean shit. Your opinions are equal to guest judges on America's Top Model: a little bit shallow, moderately condesending and completely gay.
-
You just described most of the opinions on EVERY talkback!
-
Giving David Arquette the WCW belt, or allowing Michael Phelps to host?
-
The show is 10x worse.
-
just waiting to burst out of that little body. Jabba!! Just look at her face, look at the way she talks. She resembles some fat trailer park trash blob. These so called actors keep getting more and more unattractive and normal looking by the second.
-
I'm looking at you Fred Armisen.

...if there was ever a perfect place to officially announce him being cast as The Man of Steel...if it happened...which I hope doesn't...would be during his monologue next week.

A friend started a Facebook group or whatever at my suggestion of that about 4 months ago.

agreed with Orionsangels - we have to watch an ad to watch an ad
by jedibo29
-
You may think you love her, but I love her more.
-
Totally fucking suck. First two records were the tits...now all they do is "mom rock." Seriously. Fucking. Awful.
-
Is "Use Somebody," in your view, a good song?
-
Just took a gander at that jpg on photobucket, and she looks like Lindsay Lohan's doppelganger.
Maybe the two of them could make another Parent Trap!
-
Not a mindblowing song, but the "someone likah eyouuuuuuuu!!!" chorus part really does stick in your head. But they won't be busting that out tonighter, they're pimpin' a new album. I'm still waiting for MCR to be the musical guest, they were for the John C. Riley episode, I believe. I had vague dreams tonight would be the Emma Stone / MCR power combo but, alas, t'was not meant to be.
-
Lohan's face is a bit more longer and boxy, Stone's is awesomely symmetrical, and we all know symmetrical features is how one defines beauty.
-
overrated
-
post a pic of your boyfriend so we know who's mounting you nightly fucking clown shoes.
-
If they're set on rebooting, I thought she was a good choice for MJ. Gwen Stacy? Why?
-
Am I the only one who knows this? wtf.
Music sounds like warmed over Coldplay while the singer is channelin Scott Stapp.
-
Ya ever think RDJ may just not want to host?
-
I can't tell them apart at this point.

Is there a rattlesnake sound effect in the theme this year?

Or should I turn the lights on and be looking around the room!?

I keep thinking that's Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines wakking with Bobby Moynihan in his intro.

They deserve it. Especially Nasim.

Kenan was channeling Milton from Office Space a bit there.

-
perfect impersonations!
-
This is painful. Didn't they already do this with Brian Williams?
-
...as to why Wiig is considered annoying, THIS would be the one.
-
Acting CIRCLES around Wiig here.
-
Perhaps a Michael Cera Talk show
-
"She gets a bracelet." Fantastic use of Hader here.
-
Looks like the Cranston episode will remain best of the season for the time being.
-
She looks like Bijou Phillips.
-
I would eat that grape jelly out of Emmma's ass
-
i thought the exact same thing. i've never seen that before either.
-
Seems like she'd give a very toothy blowjob. And I second Redbull_Werewolf's sentiments.
-
WHO CARES?
-
Great, Armisen gets to say "So What, who cares?" over and over, then Kenan with Whoopi's glasses...
-
and I'm not even sure what the hell it was trying to make fun of.
Anybody?
-
If I was a 14 year old girl. Or a fucking loser with a Facebook account. But I may consider joining to get her canned.
-
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-
Funny.
-
I think it was a bit of a shot at Ke$ha. And attention seeking girls in High School.
-
Of course I do live under a rock.
-
Good band, but this is a bad performance, the mics not turned on or something
-
But at least it is something Wiig isn't in.
-
Its not overproduced, cookie cutter, pop. Brought to you by companies trying to sell you something or some ex-disney douche.
-
Is Ke$ha worth taking a shot at?
Even a bit?
-
He is a breath of fresh air.
-
Probabaly not brag to my friends about it though
-
That's why you guys are attracted to her.
-
Why make fun of something that was already funny?
-
surprised no one in the audience laughed
-
Since the cold snap here down south they've been disappearing (at least outside).
-
Then I would have to commit suicide. "Because I wanna be an East Indian, 'cause I relly like the colour of their skin, and I'd never vote for the KKK, 'cause I'd rather be dead than from the U.S.A."
-
...I think.

Like I said, I can't tell the white boys apart.
-
why do they let him do his Stand-up sketch?
-
Funny.
-
Pretty great for him, considering he's not even a cast member. And yeah, that Scooby Doo joke was great.
-
This is fun.
-
It's hilarious when he does it, not so much when Horatio Sanz and Jimmy Fallon did it.
-
Furkles
-
Was waiting for him to show up this season...Does that make me gay?

I always thought I'd enjoy watching Emma Stone do anything.

Thanks for ruining that thought SNL, but the monologue was funny, but WTF Emma should be showing off her legs.
-
And it appears to be a rehash of #1....kinda...a lil bit.
-
Sorta.
-
2,1,3
-
The laughs are not with this episode.
-
The second coming of Chris Parnell?
-
It doesn't even feel like it's FROM SNL.
-
Infinite swirl.
-
Funny.
-
Exactly----------it's funny.
-
Not a very good episode, I mean i've jacked it twice to emma's beautiful eyes, but overall I still feel let down
-
because i'd like to fuck Nasim while she's in character as one of the teen girls she's played?
-
no homo though
-
It's sad that the only true April O neil is forced to do bit parts
-
as the 'What Up With That' backup singers, ooh yes please! Where the hell is Vanessa tonight anyway?
-
Mein Kampf!
-
Ouch.
-
Where the new guys pretend to be a guest band. That was kind of cool.
-
That actually made me laugh out loud.
-
The Band pretended to be Lynard skynnard... I thought they did a pretty good job pretending to be that band
-
And no surprise. The second half was much funnier than the first.

The Digital Short. For a moment I didn't know it was Emma.
by sighborg
And for a moment I didn't think it was funny, until the voice box bit. And Emma Stone is hot.
-
Poor Chaplin. lol

Not a terrible, terrible ep. A couple of decent things for the archives. Stefon was funny, as always. Sex Ed hit the mark. The costume store thing is another potential character for Keenan. Update had some stuff so funny I had to wonder if the audience had been chloroformed. Grape Jelly nearly had me pissing myself. Hader as a reporter was funny, even if the sketch half tanked.

There just weren't ANY of laughs in the other 2/3 of the show though. It got better as it went along, more or less, but DAMN it was rough episode. Like bad Mad TV.
-
Easy A. Is on it's way to making $60 million on an $8 million budget. Cast as Gwen Stacy. Got Paul McCartney to design a "Blackbird" tattoo for her. Hosts SNL. Not bad.
-
I used to like her. But now she sucks. Yell, Kristen, yell. Do stupid voices over and over again.
-
I think Wiig a genius and truly hilarious in tonight's home makeover sketch.
-
give her a very understated role and let Bill Hader be funny. It'll be interesting to see how she is used in 'Paul'
-
funny!
-
Unfortunetly I don't think she dates guys that eat a dinner consisting of a redbull and 3 KFC doubledowns :'(
-
She's got a fairly defined number of character types she can play. She does them well and they can be gut bustingly funny at times. However, she's been on a fair number of years not. She's got maybe 4 or 5 personalities that she's spread across dozens of characters. Hey, I'm all for recycling, but something like this just shows her limited range.

At the same time, even if the superbly Keenan has maybe 1/2 that range, he's used only 1/4 as often as Wiig is. Lorne has pretty much forgotten that Abby & Nasim exist, at least compared to Wiig. The writers could be allowing them to flourish more.

And WTF?!? Still no new black women on the show? <cues music> WHAT UP WITH THAT?
-
SNL writers are lazy when it comes to Wiig. She's talented. No question. But test her. Give her something that requires variation. A little Wiig doing "crazy" voices gets very annoying. SNL is not doing her any favors right now.
-
Scary.
-
Tonight's was the lamest SNL I've seen in YEARS. And Kristen Wiig can only play the same character in different roles so many times.
-
It would be OK to reuse it if the gag was the way the host acted but it's not, It's gag is that the winner doesn't react and to just have another Host come on and too the same bit Brian williams did like 2 years ago just made the sketch lame
-
Some funny stuff. But mostly not. And to have someone who idolizes the show be the host of something so mediocre at best. Shame on SNL.
-
...what Herc thinks of Nasim, and if he thinks she should be used more often on the show. By the way, because only a hundred other people have said it here, Emma is hot.
-
the inevitable Dr. Oz sketch? Bill Hader HAS to be chomping at the bit for that one.
-
Oct. 24, 2010, 12:40 a.m. CST
Emma Stone is hot. Didn't know she has some serious booty.
by sighborg
At the beginning monologue. In the pant suit. Nice. At the end, in the last sketch selling Halloween costumes in the tight dress, as the model. As she walked to the left. Very nice.
-
She's hot. She both looks, acts, and sounds more mature than her age, yet she has that youthful cuteness because she is only 22 years old. She has unique eyes (The Zooey Effect - though Emma's eyes are unique in a different way), and her hair would probably look good in any color. Her favorite band is The Beatles. Her favorite movies include Network and City Lights. She has become popular over time instead of all-at-once due to a single movie. The fact that I forget about her, and then I keep re-discovering her every several months means she never overstays her welcome. I don't think I've ever read a TMZ-style article about her. I realize she hasn't been in enough movies to prove herself as a truly great actress, yet she has at least proven herself to be good in movies that give her a role with a little substance. I wish her the best as she heads into the most mainstream years of her still-young career. Hopefully she isn't watered down by Hollywood.
-
Pure Asian Hot
-
always remind me of Melinda Clarke, who played Marissa's mommy on The OC.
-
Emma Stone = (Anna Faris - plastic surgery) + (Lindsay Lohan - crazy) + (Lucille Ball) - dead.
-
If she had a Youtube video it would be Teh cutness awww...
-
I agree completely. Plus, just the right amount of make up on Emma takes the Melinda Clarke look and ups it a little....or maybe it's because Emma's eyes are a tad wider in relation to her face (compared to Melinda Clarke). Emma's eyes seem to stand out in nearly every picture.
-
Newsflash to geeks: everyone hates you, SOOOOOOOO very much. When you walk down the street in your track suit pants and oversized sweater with your discolored cheeks from high blood pressure and a giant gut hanging down to your knees, sweating and dripping and reeking and covered head to toe with hair and acne, remember that you have failed at every possible thing in life, that you are a social and evolutionary pariah. Remember that you are loathed, despised, hated beyond words. Remember that the world has finally woken up to how much it hates you and THE BIGGEST COMEDY HIT ON TELEVISION IS A SHOW THAT MOCKS YOUR EVERY WORD. Movies and tv and books have moved away from your childish entertainments, as has the entire free world. Your universe is shrinking smaller and smaller in every passing moment! In short the world hates you, and Emma Stone will NOT make out with you. I hope this is a trend where geeks become the subject of all the negative jokes about bad people. Because they are without a doubt bad people. Bad bad bad people. Enjoy the rest of SNL non-geeks! Keep laughing at the geeks! :)
-
was just icing on the cake. People HATE you, Michael!
-
This first sketch with Kristin Wiig doing THE EXACT SAME ANNOYING SHIT SHE DOES IN EVERY SKETCH has me ready to give up on the rest of this episode. Holy shit, this is terrible. How the fuck do the writers even write these sketches? Do they just write up a two sentence premise and just have her come up with the annoying noises she'll make?
-
Am I the only one who thought that bit was brilliant? When they all broke into dance together I lost it. But then again I was like crazy high.
-
Awesome monologue poking fun of nerds and geeks. It also shined a light on the recent trend of actresses capitalizing on roles that reflect the average geek/nerd's dream of meeting a "cute, smart, and mature girl next door who will make out with him/her."
-
...and...fucking weird at the same time. i laughed out loud and then felt ODD for doing it lol...
-
The Sex Seminar sketch was the funniest.
-
I've never had my dreams shattered in such a congenial way. I loved her in the Digital Short too, because seeing her in a Stephen Hawking-esque wheelchair was borderline traumatizing. Gal's a good actress, too bad she was sidelined in most of the skits. But having her talking about rubbing apples in her ass was hot.
-
That was Charlie Chaplin. Jeez.
-
If you're a social pariah and you hate everybody, what the hell's the problem with everybody hating you? Me and the world get along just fine. We ignore each other.
-
more Cera impersonations! Over all, horrible show tonight, only thing kinda funny was that french skit and "Cera".
-
Hope I don't have to hear that damn laughing squeal any longer, she should have left with Forte.
-
love that skit. It's sucks he does them so few a season.
-
Watching Emma last night, it was even more painfully clear: she is absolutely the best choice for Mary Jane Watson: beautiful, intelligent, witty, bohemian ... oh, and a red head? And yet, these pieces of rectum cast her as Gwen. It's just mind boggling. Oh, and I wonder if she'd make out with me?
But seriously, whoever made this decision, may they turn on a spit in hell while demons lick their taint with forked tongues. Effin' pieces of crap.
-
The best parts were the Michael Cera impression, Baby Spanks, the lampooning of Ke$ha (whose last performance on SNL was downright embarrassing), Stefon on Weekend Update, the French sketch (why people hated it I don't know, it was just quirky enough to win me over), and Sex Ed. As usual I found almost every sketch to prominently feature Wiig damn near unwatchable. She's incredibly hot, but as someone said above she's overused and her characters are more grating than funny. Other than that, Stone was great and so was the show.
-
Is a good (overplayed) song. But the KOL used to ROCK, man. Go listen to Youth and Young Manhood. I'm a rocker. I LOVE Garage Rock. This lite-rock shit they play now gets 'em fans, but sux.
-
reminded me of old-school, s2 SNL. Just kind of weird, in a good way.
-
It was limping from the start, but screeched to a fucking halt when Wiig came out, dragging the Can't-keep-a-surprise/Target lady shtick out of the grave again. Just. Fucking. Horrible.
-
She must have some crazy pull with Lorne to keep getting so much airtime. Even Armisen(who inexplicably is still Obama, plus was able to throw enough weight around to keep his new gf Abby Elliott from being canned this season) can't get away with throwing THE EXACT SAME shtick out there and watch it bomb week after week.
-
I love the character, but I can't help but notice that each time he appears it becomes less about the character being funny, and more about Bill Hader trying not to laugh while he does it. It's starting to develop into a Horatio Sanz/Jimmy Fallon thing where it just seems like the crackups are becoming intentional.
-
is partly due to the fact that she's the only woman on the show.
-
...I was thinking today about how explicable the overexposure of Wiig (and Pohler before her) is in the modern SNL era. Back at the beginning when it was only three female cast members (two of whom-Curtin and Newman-were arguably the straight-women for the males cast) you could sort of understand how Radner ended up used so often. But since then, the way that Lorne takes one female and uses her to death makes no sense. And that's a shame because both Pohler and Wiig are insanely talented in the right role. The problem however is Michaels doesn't save them for the times when the right role comes along.

That Michael Cera impression was spot-on...
by HarryKnowlesNonExistentInceptionReview
...and gut-bustingly hilarious. Funniest thing I've seen on SNL this year.
-
...i really don't think Hader laughs intentionally. When he did that last club and he said, "Its got Ghosts! Banjos!..." I almost fell in the floor laughing. As a sometimes performer myself, I can only imagine how hard it is to keep a straight face with such fascinatingly ridiculous lines...
-
I love that Weekend Update now has an open mic feature where apparently random audience members can practice their amateur stand-up routines. Great!
-
WTF, AICPeople?
-
But I managed to find it on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8JZJHKSVyo
-
was actually pretty entertaining. Too bad they tucked it into the second half of the show. I guess it's really important to always lead off with a Kristin Wiig "loud, idiotic voice" sketch.
-
The writing of that character, the mannerisms, and yes, even the laughing, is just sheer comedic perfection. Absolutely love it when he shows up. Hilarious stuff. Anyone who gets "offended" by his crack-ups is a douchebag.
-
I think you'll find it mentioned at Oct 23rd, 2010 11:05:52 PM.
Just after it aired.
Were you not watching?
-
Hey, I - for one - really enjoy the show. I don't expect perfection, and the fact that you don't see anyone else doing live stuff like this should tell you how hard it is to do, and do well. This particular episode, however... was shite. It was all warmed over(and over) material, from the boring cold opener, to the "It's funny because it's an adult item on a baby!" fake commercial to the "stall for time" Wiig overacting shtick(which should have been the final sketch of the night, if not removed altogether), to the pointless View retread to the... you get the idea. This was a definite low point in a quite decent year, so far.
-
Might have worked better in an episode that hadn't already come apart at the seams. It's simple; you have to build up some good will each week before we will stomach a pointless, trite, cutesy, neo-bohemian fantasy dance. When an episode is on fire, it's a nice change of pace, but it's confusing figuring out if it's supposed to be a serious sketch when nothing else has been funny the whole night through, either.
-
you see the wisdom back in the day of not recasting MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS or SCTV & continuing on & on & on...
-
was funnier than 90% of what airs on SNL, so maybe he'll go three-for-three this weekend. I've said it before, he can deliver a straight line funny, and a funny line straight. And that is key in comedy.
-
I fucking loved that commercial SNL did, and it was funnier than the live 30 Rock one, which was, admittedly, still very funny. But man, fucking Hamm & Buble was ridiculous. Just brilliant acting from both of them, and even better writing. Hamm & Buble, What Up With That, and Stefon are my favorite things SNL has done recently. And they are killing What Up With That by doing it too much. I thought Sparkling Apple Juice a few weeks ago was incredibly stupid, yet very funny. But I also udnerstand the people who said it was the worst sketch theyd ever seen in their lives. It was the worst sketch of all time. But it became funny too
-
http://tinyurl.com/yfjjztc
For your enjoyment.
-
Maybe Jay Pharoah can't "get" Obama unless Armisen retires?
-
Here's another vote to make Nasim a regular and give her more airtime. I think she's very cute and extremely funny. Just give her some of Wiig's time. I think Wiig is brilliant at times, but seriously overused.
-
...Mark my words.
-
Yeah, it's definitely seniority. Fred gets what he wants, and hey, he's put in the time. That still doesn't mean they're not making a mistake or hurting themselves by refusing to give it to the new guy who does it much better.
-
The digital shorts are usually my favorite each week(I love to death the "Great Day" coked-up musical last season), but that will always have an advantage over live material. Outside of that, the most consistently funny bits have been Weekend Update(Stefon, Gov. Patterson, and Seth holds it all down remarkably well by himself) and Will Forte's sketches(Grapes, Potato Chip and the like)... stupid? Hell yes. But also fucking funny and bizarre as hell.
-
That another favorite is Wiig as the lady who loves surprises. At least, it was until I found out that was all Wiig could play.
-
The contest winner sketch had me rolling. Wiig is vamping like mad, and Stone just has no reaction, and perfect timing in her line delivery. She was so good it makes me wonder what happened during "The View" sketch, Stone's Lohan was spot on, but Wiig wouldn't shut up doing her "Hasselback is an idiot" impression. It started to make me think she was trying to steal the sketch away form Stone.
Wiig is good at the "High-class lady who starts to lose it" stuff, but anything else she's at best mediocre, to down right pathetic.-----later-----m
