ARGH! I was supposed to be on the set of FOOTLOOSE today!

Hey folks, Harry here - for those of you that follow me on Twitter - you're well aware that I feel like I'm on Death's door - hit with this nasty as hell Stomach Flu that kept me on a toilet for 7 hours straight yesterday, while having Dry Heave convulsions. Most of yesterday is a blur. I spent most of it in Bed. But that isn't what I was supposed to be doing yesterday. In the entire 14 years of running AICN, I have never had to cancel a set visit. It has never happened. Today, I was going to be bringing you an exclusive set visit of the LAST DANCE - from the remake of FOOTLOOSE. Now, I know... for some of you hardened cynical film geeks, there's a list of at least 40 reasons why you could give a flying poop about a FOOTLOOSE remake, but for me... I campaigned to get this day on set. For one, I believe in Craig Brewer - director of HUSTLE & FLOW and BLACK SNAKE MOAN - a one-two punch that I have loved repeatedly. More than that - if you know me, you know that my favorite genre is the Musical. For me, it is the purest form of cinema. The musical captures the dream of life. The ability for the song in one person's soul, to be shared by everything around them. To sing & dance, it's the purest joy of the human experience. And if you knew me prior to my mobility issues, you know that I loved to dance. Yes, I've been a fatman my entire life, but damn I was one coordinated fatman. Cutting a rug sent me over the moon. It is one of my great hopes in life, to get that back. BUT - also - in the 14 years of going on set visits, I've never before visited a musical. I'm not real sure how that never happened, but it is true. I've never visited a Musical. Today, I was going to fulfill that dream. Now, who knows when I will. Then - with the sweetest salt ever rubbed into the open wound of sickness - Craig Brewer took a photo with his Ren & Ariel (Kenny Wormald & Julianne Hough) holding a sign that... well here's the picture:

If you click on the picture, you'll go to Craig Brewer's Twitpic page, where you can browse through a group of photos from the set today. The Final Dance. Sigh. Just looking at Ren & Ariel in their Prom Attire makes me hate circumstances more than I can possibly convey. Look at that location. Mason Jar covered lights... that wonderful brickwork, the hardwood floor... I suppose the reality is, I'm the sort of guy that won't get on a plane if I have the flu - and won't go to a set with a dreaded woofus. In fact - this is so communicable that even though Yoko and I have stayed in separate areas of the house for the last 48 hours, she's come down with it too. I've told my family to stay away at least till Thursday. Yeah, I feel horrible, but look at it this way - You get to see the main characters in their PROM attire because I'm sick. So win win.
