Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Last year I took my mom to New York in order to see Paul McCartney play the first concert at Citi Field, built on the site of Shea Stadium, where The Beatles had their very famous show.
As part of the trip I also wanted to take her to a Broadway show... you know, earn points towards towards the Son of the Year trophy. While Hair was totally up her alley, we've seen that story, so I picked God of Carnage. It had a great cast (Jeff Daniels, Marcia Gay Harden, Hope Davis and James Gandolfini) and had an even better reputation as a jet black comedy/drama.
And boy is it great. It's essentially a one location story about a couple meeting the parents of a boy their child got in a fight with. In the play we never see the kids, it's only four people and we watch as hollow civility gives way to base childishness and petty screaming matches that makes all the adults look worse than their kids.
Damn good stuff and now it seems that the great character actor John C. Reilly has joined the cast of Roman Polanski's film adaptation of the play. He'll be joining Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz according to Deadline.
What a spectacular cast. This is going to be a great movie, mark my words.
