Well this is a damn shame.... RE: Universal's ILM FRANKENSTEIN film

Published at:  Nov 15, 1999 9:18:28 PM CST

I've had about a dozen folks from various places (ILM, UNIVERSAL, other effects studios) email me today saying that finally... Universal drove the final nail in FRANKENSTEIN's coffin.

Ever since the departure of Casey Silver, this once mighty project has been suffering the death of idiotic executives. Too many cooks in the kitchen. Middle Management types that nitpicked and nitpicked. Unfortunately... or fortunately... we will never really know what we lost here today. The project was kept under very tight wraps...

In the last 2 months I've had conversations with several folks that saw extensive work on the project. And they spoke of the work ILM was doing in hushed reverance. However, we... the outside world, has never seen one single frame. According to the whispers I listen to, this has been the most costly project, since THE HULK, that Universal has pulled the plug on. With THE HULK, it was the results of a terrible script. With FRANKENSTEIN... twas suits that killed the beast.

Oh well, maybe it is for the best. Perhaps someday, somewhere.... someone will allow Frank Darabont to shoot and direct his original script draft of FRANKENSTEIN, before Steph Lady and Kenneth Branagh anally assaulted the project, turning it into the creative abortion that bloodied our eyes and ears.

But for now... the future slate of films is not as bright as it once was... Though there is hope... This project has died many times, perhaps just a tad of mother electricity and a pair of kites or in order.... Hmm...
