Ambush Bug here. Before we take a whirl on the Spinner Rack, I wanted to check in and update you guys on my trip to the New York Comic Con last week. I’m just about fully recovered from the three day fiasco. This was my first NYCC and from what I hear, it was the biggest con to date. A lot of that had to do with the unholy union of the NYCC and the Anime Festival that was going on in the Javitz Center just below the main floor. This meant for a lot more folks, a lot more booths, and a lot more hot chicks in costumes (yay!). I reported on some of the news dropping at the con while it went down. Click here for that post.
I had a chance to do a shit ton of interviews once again, and I’m enlisting fellow @$$Hole Lyzard to help me out with the transcriptions to get them out to you all fast. Below is a list of some of the cool interviews you have to look forward to in the coming weeks:

I talked with John Schnepp one of the mad minds behind Dark Horse’s METALOCALYPSE: DEATHKLOK!
Chris Mangun, Michael Lapinski, and Swifty Lang, talk about their book FEEDING GROUND for Archaia’s Black Label!
Zenescope President Joe Brusha talks about his new books!
Writer Ron Marz & artist Michael Broussard update me on Top Cow’s ARTIFACTS!
TRUE BLOOD’s Michael McMillian chats about Archaia / Before the Door’s LUCID!
IDW Publisher Chris Ryall talks about his new exciting books!
The creative team behind BOOM!’s DARKWING DUCK chat with me for a few!
Archaia / Before the Door’s MR. MURDER IS DEAD writer Victor Quinaz gave me a few minutes!
And writers Mike Wolfer & Brian Pulido talk about Avatar’s new LADY DEATH series!

Look for these interviews soon on AICN Q&@!

I also had a chance to pick up some pretty fantastic looking DVD’s which I will most definitely be covering in my weekly AICN HORROR: ZOMBIES & SHARKS column soon (check it out every Friday here on AICN!);

LIVING HELL: A Japanese Chainsaw Massacre!
The gut-chewingly awesome ANTHROPOPHAGUS!

The classic RIKI-OH: THE STORY OF RICKY!

Be sure to check out AICN HORROR: ZOMBIES & SHARKS every Friday!

Look for reviews of these comics in upcoming AICN COMICS columns (every Wednesday)!
I had a blast at this year’s con. It’s funny how each con has a personality. Given that this one occurs in the heart of New York City, it isn’t as communal as San Diego and not at fresh as C2E2 in Chicago. But that doesn’t mean it was any less fun catching up with friends and fans amidst the masses gathered for a common love for all things comics and genre related. Special thanks goes to Halo-8’s Matt Pizzolo. If not for his help, I wouldn’t have been able to go to this con. Be sure to check out my review of Halo-8’s documentary from director Patrick Meaney GRANT MORRISON: TALKING WITH GODS, it’s a great flick.
Finally, I got this video from David Jr.com depicting his own experiences at the con. Looks like he had a great time too. It’s a pretty great representation of the organized chaos went on in that weekend. Enjoy!

Hey all, Ambush Bug here with another clickable delight from the wide and wild world of webcomics. OLD CITY BLUES is a great looking cybrtpunk police procedural comic from Giannis Milonogiannis. The art is reminisnent of artists like Phil Noto with a sketchy feel sort of like Guy Davis. All in all it’s a great mix of sci fi and cop fiction. So far four issues have been released. The issues are filled with cyborgs, cool sleek car designs, and moody themes. There’s definitely a BLADE RUNNER vibe going on here and that’s meant to be a compliment. Those who love that flick will find a lot to like here. Check out these four issues and see what I mean. They’re just a click away! I hope there’s more to come because these first four issues were really great.
