‘Extravagant Gifts of Deliciousness!!’
See Now The First Five Minutes
Of Will Ferrell As MEGAMIND!!

I am – Hercules!! Yes! Somebody finally had the notion to stick “Bad To The Bone” in a movie: To be fair, the target audience for “Megamind” is likely too young to remember “Terminator 2,” “Problem Child,” “Christine,” “Major Payne,” “Joe Dirt,” “The Parent Trap.” Oh, wait, what? It was used in “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore” this summer? Well, never mind! “Megamind” was directed by Tom McGrath (both “Madagascar” movies) from a script by newcomers Alan Schoolcraft and Brent Simons. The clip suggests this might be better than a lot of DreamWorks stuff. It also makes me think maybe Joss Whedon should maybe think about animating his next Dr. Horrible project.

They did a VERY good job in making the superhero look...

    by RedEgiraahgnal

...unsympathetic. So I give them cudos for that. Five minutes and I already root for the bad guy.

    Twas nether extravagant nor delicious

  • Oct. 17, 2010, 4:37 p.m. CST

Also doesn't matter how the rest of the film turns out...

    by RedEgiraahgnal

...I hope we will see a prequel that only focuses on the criminally gifted prisoners, who try to raise a baby from outer space. This story has potential.

  • Oct. 17, 2010, 4:57 p.m. CST

Wow, now I prob won't see it.

    by MST3KPIMP

I figured I would see this but that sneek peek has me thinking otherwise. thanks for the warning dreamworks!

    Mediocre at best.

    by Ironhelix

Still wish one of these animation houses would make something awesome for adults.

  • Oct. 17, 2010, 6:43 p.m. CST

    That's a shame.......

    by theycallmemrtibbs

So in 2010 we're supposed ta feel sympathy for the super villains with enlarged heads? So no more poking fun at the Leader, Modok, Stewie? This is sum bullshit!

  • Oct. 17, 2010, 7:05 p.m. CST

    Gotta agree

    by lochkray

That preview kinda backfired. It has me less interrested now. Of course, I'm a few years north of their key demographic, but I will be the decider of what movies I take my kids to, and Megamind is no longer one high on my list. Hopefully I'm wrong (Love Wil Farrell), but that doesn't instill a lot of hope to me for a good flick.

  • Oct. 17, 2010, 7:11 p.m. CST

    Looks good to me!

    by TheGhostWhoLurks

I'll see it. Looks more fun than half of the live-action films AICN tries to push on us! :)

Looks Good - I'll give it a chance

    by Goro

But I suspect that this talkback will be swarming with Dreamworks haters who go out of their way to use the slightest smallest detail to criticize a Dreamworks film. What's wrong with using Bad to The Bone, Herc? It's a classic song! CARS used Sheryl Crow and John Mayer songs, eck!!

    by P862010

douche bags this looks fun as hell

  • Oct. 17, 2010, 7:58 p.m. CST

    It looks funny enough

    by terry1978

I don't expect it to be as scathing as Incredibles or whatever, but good for a satirical deconstruction type thing for the younger set.

  • Oct. 17, 2010, 8:36 p.m. CST

Looks like a fun time at the movies with the family.

    by JDanielP

But since we don't need the 3D, we could just as well make it a blind buy on blu-ray.

"I'll keep my eye on you like a dingo on a baby"

    by Nasty In The Pasty

I don't think I'll be seeing this unless the reviews are EXCELLENT, and even then, there's room for error. Critics mostly praised Despicable Me, and while it was cute and charming, it wasn't very laugh-out-loud funny (aside from "IT'S SO FLUFFY!!!"). Plus, Will Ferrell annoys the shit out of me, although here at least we won't have to look at his beady eyes and simian forehead and beefaroni hair.

  • Oct. 17, 2010, 9:33 p.m. CST

"What's wrong with using Bad To The Bone"?

    by Nasty In The Pasty

Um, the fact that it's been used in about a THOUSAND different movies, trailers and TV ads, completely robbing it of whatever appeal it had decades ago? Kind of like "Walking On Sunshine" or that "Ohhhhhh Yeah!" song.

  • Oct. 17, 2010, 10:03 p.m. CST

I think that I'm going to like this

    by room23storeblogspotcom

I still hate the horrible Dreamworks style designs though.

Tina Fey's character design is REALLY disturbing, like something Steve Brodner might paint.

Dreamworks style designs = limitations of nurbs

    by UltraTron

modeling. I just saw jackass 3 with my parents who were on the way to australia. They had a layover and I met them for lunch and a movie to kill a couple hours. Great theater. Kids, gorgeous teen women, everyone from every demographic packed in. It was my parents first jackass experience. I feel like everyone who sees it comes out a little more gloriously desensitized. It's a right of passage I would recommend. Take your folks! Get them back for seeing the fincher flick without you

So, the girl with the lazy eye being next to last is funny?

    by daggor

I thought we were beyond this now. Come on, Ellen. Speak out against the hatred and bullying of the girl with the bad posture and Peter Falk eye!

  • Oct. 18, 2010, 12:35 a.m. CST

    I kinda liked it

    by Ye Not Guilty

Megamind is a villian so it makes sense to begin with a monologue.

  • Oct. 18, 2010, 5:35 a.m. CST

    Speaking of character design...

    by DiscoGodfather

Does anyone else think that maybe they just took unused characters from "Monsters vs. Aliens", made their heads slightly smaller, and put them in a movie? The human characters are almost identical here (except for the heads), and even Megamind looks like Rainn Wilson's alien character with less eyes. That said, I do like the overall concept, though i agree with the TBer above who wants to see a prequel set in the prison.

Thats what I'm saying, its that whole Sherk/ Aliens vs Monsters ugly human designs. I just hate looking at it.

  • Oct. 18, 2010, 1:28 p.m. CST

these Character designs give me a headache instantly

    by RentonRiggs

I'll save my money to see Glen Keane's designs in Tangled, thank you very much. Dreamworks Animation has only made one good film - Kung Fu Panda. And that's because they didn't go all bonkers with the character design. Keep it simple.

  • Oct. 18, 2010, 3:17 p.m. CST

MEGA MAN? Yes! Mega Mind? WTF!

    by Stalkeye

isnt Farrell's 15 minutes up already?

  • Oct. 18, 2010, 3:39 p.m. CST

Those character designs are bad even for Dreamworks

    by FeralAngel

Monsters vs. Aliens was ugly as shit, even considering the movie was about...monsters and aliens. This movie looks as bad if not worse. That Lois Lane thing...god DAMN but her puss is unpleasant-looking. Like a red-haired Hilary Clinton Halloween mask. Glack. I used to think that the reason so many CGI toons have such awful-looking characters was because so much charm was lost translating 2D designs into 3D rigs. Now I think it's just plain lousy art. PASS.

    Like it

    by BetaSword

Also, I don't see what's the problem, some people seem having with MonstersVsAliens, it was a nice Movie, and th only disappointment is, that Susan can't change her size at will.
