Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!
I started getting sent this pic about 3 months ago and since then it has been one of the more popular reader submitted images. That leads me to believe that it’s not exactly the hardest pic to come across.
It also tells me that it’s an image that sticks with people.
There were many films I loved growing up, but A Nightmare on Elm Street holds a special place for me. I never saw anything like it and have very vivid memories of the movie completely freaking me out. That opening credits sequence of grimy hands working on the glove in the boiler room and that first Tina dream sequence was unlike anything I’d ever seen before.
The dream atmosphere and the overall gritty tone is what really sets the first film apart from any of the sequels (barring the second film, which is not a great movie, but is the only one that actually has that same tone, much like Jaws 2 isn’t a pimple on the ass of Jaws, but it still feels cut from the same cloth) and any other movies of the type.
Wes Craven tapped into something special with Nightmare. The combination of casting, story, tone, effects and atmosphere all lock in to create one of my personal favorite horror films and movie monsters of all time.
The pic below is of Fred hanging with the Elm Street kids, including young Johnny Depp and listening to a Walkman. Enjoy!
Here are the pics! Enjoy!
If you have a pic you think should be included email me. I’m looking for the iconic, the rare or the just plain cool behind the scenes shots to feature here.
Well, I’ll be dipped in shit if tomorrow we don’t get a new Behind the Scenes Pic!
