A ton of casting on TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN!!!
Hey folks, Harry here with the exciting thrilling news about THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN and the shit ton of casting that has been commencing on it. Now - if you're like me - and you haven't read the series - you might think... aren't those movies already cast? True - but this is a new big two-parter of the craziest part of the TWILIGHT SAGA. You might also say to yourself, "Self, why should I give a shit?" Given the size of the success of this thing, I'm betting there's an awful lot of you folks that are obsessive about TWILIGHT - and given the BILLION plus page views AICN has garnered in the last 4 years - I'm betting that there's a healthy bunch of folks that do have more than a passing interest in a smidgen of coverage that we give it from time to time. However, if you're a real movie fan - you're probably a fan of one BILL CONDON - be it from his CANDYMAN: FAREWELL TO THE FLESH or his brilliant GODS AND MONSTERS... Maybe you LOVED his KINSEY, like me. Or maybe you loved his script for CHICAGO or his own directed DREAMGIRLS - but the thing that I have no doubt about is that Bill Condon is the real deal. I know, here at AICN we tend to get really behind a group of certain directors - in many cases those directors are people I've never met - and in some cases they are people I've known for the duration of AICN's existence. Bill is one of those. I can't wait to see what he does with this insane mania that is devoted to TWILIGHT - Bill is at his heart a wonderful subversive filmmaker - and from everything I've heard about BREAKING DAWN - if you were gonna have one TWILIGHT story to be told by a filmmaker with the background of Bill Condon - it would be this. He's will make the difference. I'm willing to bet that the acting from top to bottom will be superior to what we've seen in the previous films. Bill won't be afraid for a second from the truly bizarre turns that BREAKING DAWN has built into it. In fact, those aspects are most likely what is driving him to take this gig. Personally - I know that what I'm writing will probably not make an ounce of difference to the kneejerk crowd that just saw a story about TWILIGHT and decided to rage below about whether or not it deserves to be discussed on AICN. Or the folks that actually believe it would just be a traffic dig... honestly, this story will probably only get a smidgen higher than the stories that fill the site on Batman, Superman, Alien, Spider-Man, etc... And GOD - wish you people flocked to the AICN LEGENDS stories like you do these. But I get it. For the vast majority of folks they seemingly don't have a passion for FILM HISTORY that the smaller rabid film freaks that read this site and try to goto Butt-Numb-A-Thon every year have beating in their chest like a humming bird's heart. I think Bill Condon is going to make the film that the TWILIGHT fans have been wanting from day 1. Something that captures the emotion that the books create in them. Not that the writing is the greatest - but the emotions that the books stir in its rabid following - those are genuine, and that is what Bill will put into this, that has been so vacant. NOW - about that casting. Just look how big this thing looks:
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – Casting Update Summit Entertainment announced today the following have been cast in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN for roles in The Amazon Coven, The Egyptian Coven, The Irish Coven and The Romanian Coven as well as the American and European Nomads as outlined below. Though they drink human blood, the Amazons have long been allies of Carlisle. · Higgins is represented by Framework Entertainment; Shekoni is represented by Visionary Entertainment as well as Venture IAB in the US and International Artistes in the UK. THE EGYPTIAN COVEN The Egyptian Coven is comprised of: Omar Metwally (RENDITION, MUNICH) as Amun. Andrea Gabriel (Lost, House) as Kebi. Rami Malek (NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM) as Benjamin. Angela Sarafyan (LOVE HURTS, THE GOOD GUYS) as Tia. The Egyptian Coven consists of Amun, Kebi, Benjamin, and Tia, with Amun as the leader. They are not vegetarian but they are civilized. · Barnes is represented by House of Representatives. THE ROMANIAN COVEN · The Romanian Coven is comprised of Noel Fisher (THE PACIFIC, FINAL DESTINATION 2) as Vladimir and Guri Weinberg (MUNICH) as Stefan. · The Romanian Coven is one of the oldest covens in the world and they were the ruling vampire family until they were unseated by the Volturi. For that reason they harbor a centuries old resentment of the Italian coven. · Fisher is represented by New Wave Entertainment and UTA; Weinberg is represented by Howard Entertainment and Defining Artists Agency. THE AMERICAN NOMADS · The American Nomads are comprised of: o Lee Pace as Garrett (Pushing Daisies, THE GOOD SHEPHERD). o Toni Trucks (MUSIC AND LYRICS) as Mary. o Bill Tangradi (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as Randall. o Erik Odom as Peter. o Valorie Curry (Veronica Mars) as Charlotte. · Turned during the Revolutionary War, Garrett has chosen to live a nomadic existence, wandering the world on his own. Garrett has never lost the rebellious spirit of his human life, and loves a good fight, always rooting for the underdog. Though not a vegetarian, Garrett is among Carlisle's closest and oldest friends. · Mary and Randall are American nomadic vampires. · Peter and Charlotte are nomadic vampires and mates. They were created during the aftermath of the Southern Vampire Wars, in which Jasper was a key player. They have remained friends with Jasper ever since. · Pace is represented by CAA and Management 360. Trucks is represented by Henderson Hogan Agency. Odom is represented by Brick Entertainment. Curry is represented by Luber Roklin Entertainment. Tangradi is represented by The Gage Group. THE EUROPEAN NOMADS · The European Nomads are comprised of Joe Anderson (THE CRAZIES) as Alistair · A nomadic vampire from England, Alistair has a misanthropic, brooding personality and a deep mistrust of all authority. Although he counts Carlisle as his closest acquaintance, he doesn’t visit more than once a century. · Anderson is represented by CAA and Management 360. I have high hopes for these final two flicks though...I actually enjoyed most of 2 & the third..

it will still suck. Even if the casts of Schindler's List, Spartacus, The ten Commandments or any epic will make this movies any good. If all the CG armies of Lord of the rings were materialized and put into these movies would make these movies Any spec of good, or any bit of substance in them! AAARHH

with sex scene after sex scene...mostly involving Anna Kendrick. Most of us haven't read the books, so maybe that's the case, and we'll all be pleasantly surprised when it's a hard R.

But the rest of those people? Um.... Not that I was ever going to watch this in the first place. Loved Dreamgirls tho.

Not one recognizable name in there. Good job Harry!

We, the readers of this site, have posted numerous comments as to how we hate this franchise. So why do you keep posting updates if we don't consider it notable, interesting or cool news at all??

it's that this is the last place one would go to for thoughtful scholarship on the history of cinema. It's not like AICN is known for it's analysis of Andre Bazin's theory of realism or Sigfried Kracauer's essays on artistic intent. Oh, and everyone hates Beaks and avoids his non-news articles like the plague.

these movies aren't terrible. i say this from the perspective of a guy who was forced into watching them by his g/f. Girls love this shit, and they try to tailor it with action to entice the boyfriends that are stuck watching it. It sorta works.
-
with the last book (which I have read) it's too damn full of people. There are all these groups and covens which are all pretty cool and much much much more interesting then The Cullens. But they are given very limited "screen time" and it's at the expense of actually fleshing out the main char. It's like Myers had all these great ideas and just jammed them all into one thing.
-
...You guys are so lame and predictable... As much as you hate it, this franchise is massive, and there are truckloads of people who frequent this site that DO find this story interesting...

and absolute shit at the same time: McDonalds, American Idol, reality television, Insane Clown Posse, California Pizza Kitchen, Crocs, Fox News, cigarettes, just for example and off the top of my head.
-
Supposedly, the writer claims Jacob wasn't in love with Bella but one of her eggs. So does that mean he'd imprint on any offspring made of that egg, even if it was fertilized with a Y chromosome? And in said scenario, would he go the way of Sgt. Hatred or Xavin from Runaways (the TwiWolves are shapeshifters)?
-
totally.
-
I enjoyed reading the books but I can't see it working as anything more than a black comedy.

Twilight is ssuper sserious.
-
...you went off on a review-sized diatribe telling your reader base that they're not film fans if they hate Twilight, then you copy paste some bullshit press release touting a bunch of no name actors who'll have somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 lines in the movie, if they have any at all. I don't really care if you post Twilight news or not, I usually ignore it but I was intrigued by this "exciting" casting news. But this isn't exciting, Harry. This is just you using a boring press release as an excuse to piss off your detractors. So congrats. Long-time reader, don't ever really post comments(had to make a new account even, because I'd forgotten my first one). But now I'm out. You might as well just posted a picture of your pale, swollen middle finger here. Would've done the trick and saved me some reading.

To answer my question, it isn't. Question marks would be more fitting.

Alistair, too bad I really don't know shit about the kid they cast. I was thinking a 30 year old myself, dark hair. Only char in shit who seemed like a vampire in personality. Fuck this anyway, Russell Edgington would eat it for breakfast

No matter how shitty a film or franchise is; Harry has to cover it to keep "Ain't it Cool" news running online. Its easy for you fucktards to say "screw Twilight" because YOU don't have anything the world pays attention to and get paid for it ! As much as I hate the Twilight series I also understand the BUSINESS Harry is in. Harry has to cover these articles in order to pay the bills.

I can't think of a single time they haven't been boring as fuck, with all their laws, rules and regulations that are just waiting to be predictably broken at some point in the narrative.
-
As someone who sat through most of the first film, I've never been more insulted by intellectually feeble dribble designed for the minds of prepubescent girls. Twilight is a vile abortion and gross commercial manipulation of horror into middle class teen angst. It's dogshit of the worst order. So fuck you Harry and your billion hits...coz im bettin a large billion of those are not the people who see these films. Twat.
-
..than all of Twilight. That's how fucking lame and slackjawed that shit is. It's on a whole new level of low that makes arguments about JJ's Treak with Asshole Lives seems like actual intellectual arguments..anyone who would call me a Twilight 'Hater' is a lobster clawed fucktard.

Any day of the week. Though I gotta say that a friend of mine went to see the second one on it's opening weekend, and said that the packed audience were all laughing AT the movie. Those kind of 'so bad it's good' films can be fun in the cinema, but are a little dull at home? And personally speaking I prefer to laugh WITH my blockbusters, not AT them.
-
Got a third of the way through book 3, literally threw it across the room and said, "That's it. I'm out."
-
We were too young to have seen the first two Aliens, and the ones that have been released since are just... guaranteed shit. Like, so bad that we only notice them a week after they hit theatres, then we forget them completely - like those Scary Movie or Meet the Spartans films.
I know a ton of geeks ("*And* you post on AICN? Wow, who'd have thought?!"), and not a single one of them could give a shit about that franchise.
-
the first two alien movies are two of the greatest modern sci-fi films ever made in the last two decades of twentienth century. alien is outerworldly. mysterious and creepy and atmospheric aliens is one the best action movies ever made. its epic stuff. alien 3 is better appreciated with the benefit of hinsight and alien 4 is horrible. if you hate fox and aicn does for whatever reason, then you wont like the last two.
-
yeah, def not going to see this
-
My boyfriend's favorite movie is "Aliens". He's turning 20 this Saturday. Not every young person likes shit nowadays.
-
... make it so and I'll be there. I want to nuke Robert Pattinson between the fucking eyes, man.
-
Always pictured him in mind from the book, amazing classical actor who would have been a better choice imo than Noel Fisher and his Rent-a-Euro accent.
-
The latter books are pretty dark, and surprisingly well written (if you're not adverse to romantic tropes culled from Bronte, Austen et al). Trouble with the film series is the Studio's need to cater to the Tween and Scene Kid market, which dilutes any chance of being able to witness a truly bloody and tortuous Renesmee birthing in Breaking Dawn.
-
the new Twilight. Let's jump on that bandwagon please. There is the potential for some great casting, and a good debate on whether or not the movie will be PG, PG-13, or R. Let us put this Twilight nonsense behind us once and for all, despite the director and actors.
-
Sure, they're light on bloodletting and heavy on melodrama, but taken for what it is, they're entertaining fare. New Moon was boring, but Eclipse was much better. I'm looking forward to the next one. Will Dakota Fanning get more screentime? I hope so. Her talent's been kinda wasted so far.
-
PG13 is absolutely guaranteed. The fact that you even put R in the conversation is laughable. No way in hell would they consider that for a second and lock out their main demographic
-
wouldn't it be so much better if it was "R"? It just means none of my 8th grade students could see it on their own. It would be a better movie if it was "R", but the reality of it is... like you say Shifty, PG-13 all the way (hopefully at least, because PG would suck balls).
-
I find the films fun and entertaining. I love all three films.
-
This is crap. CRAP. Can we please have cool news on this site again? Why is this teen bullshit drivel even posted here? Next they'll be posting about a Hannah Montannah movie or High School Musical. And some shithead will be defending it...sure they're light on storytelling and they actually suck ass, but they're entertaining. Hopefully (insert p and coming actress here) gets more screen time. GARBAGE. Let's have some MOVIE news.

I don't see how that's going to make the story any better.

For the record I thoguht the first film was really annoying and didn't make any damn sense. If you were 1,000 years old...would you keep going to fucking high school?

And now they have vampires in fucking Egypt? What happened to staying out of direct sunlight so you don't glisten all over the place?

I went to New Moon because my girlfriend was all fucking ga ga over it. It was ok I suppose. Better than the first one but that wasn't saying much. Way too much melodrama and horseshit. I haven't bothered to see Eclipse despite knowing Jasper personally. Frankly, I doubt he's even seen it unless his presence was required at a premiere.

I did make an attempt to get into this series because I'm a geek and love anything horror related. I realized quickly this wasnt horror but teen girl fantasy incapsulated in a novel. not one to give up easily I tried the second book and it broke me. I stopped halfway through. It simply held nothing of intelligent value. Not a hater. I realize why the series is so popular with teenage girls but its just not my bag.
-
"Brrrraaaffffttt"!!This sequel is another wet fart in the making and as such, it will surely stink.
-
Want to know why there are a billion plus page views for this film series? Because in every single piece of news there's a fat handful of nerds who have to post something, even if it's only "Michael Bay is gay..arf, arf". Maybe they need the attention.
-
Breaking Dawn goes as thus: get married, shag, have baby, Bella turns into vampire, baby grows super-fast and werewolf guy falls in love with it, big fight with Volitur boss vamps. And they can't fit that into one film? Right...
-
it is puppet master right?
-
That's the title
-
srsly lol.
-
... the books. "I think Bill Condon is going to make the film that the TWILIGHT fans have been wanting from day one. Something that captures the emotion that the books create in them." Outside the intended readers (young girls) the books don’t generate much emotion to begin with. And for the fans of the books, the first movies work just fine. That’s why they are so successful.
-
In your heart, you know Blade is the only answer.* *This comment does not recognize or endorse the existence of Blade 3.

First two Alien movies - not half bad. The rest of them - utter shit. The average Joe on the street doesn't make a distinction, particularly in light of the last few "AvP" films; to him, the Alien franchise is a dead one, and nobody apart from folks like us who post on genre websites particularly give a shit about it.

If Twilight shouldn't get mentioned same goes for Transformers
by andrew coleman
Twilight movies are better than the two Transformers "movies" if you can call them that. Because at least Twilight has people trying to act and the movies actually have plots. I am not a fan of Twilight but I won't say I hate it. Most of the ass holes here are saying that because: 1. They don't get laid and they resent women for it. 2. They actually do like it but they cover their tracks by slamming it here. It's funny how much bull shit gets flung around in these TB's. A lot of you use the BO to back up your statements... But then you go on trying to act as if Twilight is just "something for teen girls" I think their fan base is much larger than that actually. The movies make truck loads of money. Also anyone coming on here hating on Twilight but then go on and watch or defend the Transformers movies can just go fuck themselves. The movies are the same thing really just Twilight has better acting, direction, writing and the list goes on. So those of you acting as if Twilight shouldn't get mentioned on AICN just fuck off will you? Because if Twilight can't get mentioned then same goes for the Bayformers... Both are horrible pieces of trash that idiots go and see for some reason.

Could be promising...or they could just cast a few 5'8 all-american looking nobodies and be done with it. Me likey some Ashley Greene, though. And since I saw Up In The Air, I can see how many dig Anna Kendrick, too. Not sure if that'll get my ass in the movie theater next to my wife, though.

It's the only way to fully capture the scene where Jacob Black falls in love with a baby girl. Also, in the scene after the credits Jacob Black will be arrested for being a child molester.

Actually.. I think the CORNER animation is probably the COLLEST thing on this site in a very very Looooong time.. and since someone asked.. and someone did say. The refernce is "Leechwoman" from the "Puppet Master" series. They JUST released a new flick actually "Axis of Evil".. it wasn't bad at all.. for a series of NINE (I think) films now, and counting.. Look up Full Moon which is who releases the Puppet Master flicks.. I will give them them, GOOD on AICN for remembering a not so well remembered series of flicks..
-
I'll accept the argument by Harry that the Twilight film series can be considered geeky, and so it is relevant to this website. The franchise has an established fanbase that is very much in love with it. Alright, Harry, you keep arguing that point, and a lot of talkbackers refuse to give in, yet I'll let you say that without putting up any kind of cynical fight. HOWEVER, I do not understand how Twilight gets significantly more coverage than just about all other minor and major film productions (except for Transformers). As I said, I don't mind if you post an article about it occasionally, yet do you intend for this site to be mostly for Twilight fans. This website is defined by what it covers, and when there are almost-daily updates on Transformers and Twilight when there are new entries in those franchises being made, that is mostly what really gets a reaction out of us talkbackers. Maybe we're wrong, but we'd expect an early review of Inception or The Social Network written by you within a week of theatrical release more than we'd expect 4+ (all written by the site's main contributors) early reviews of the latest Twilight movie.
-
He should play Kurt Cobain the Heavier than Heaven biopic, this kind of exposure might help him on his way.
-
Thanks for posting Harry. I'm a fan. :-) Keep 'em coming.
-
But you're obviously not guilty about watching the Twilight saga, Harry. All to you for that. But it's really sad to read about Film History being mentioned anywhere in an article about Twilight.
-
As I recall, you absolutely adored the first TWILIGHT film and you described ECLIPSE as the most "complete". And yet, in this post it sounds as though you are now saying these movies were somehow less than satisfying. In not so many words, you are suggesting that the acting, writing and directing of the first three flicks have not been up to scratch. I wish you had the backbone to stand by your original convictions, because I actually applaud you for declaring your appreciation for TWILIGHT and ECLIPSE. And yeah, I do think this series needs to be covered on AICN. Vampires and werewolves in general are cool. And ECLIPSE was genuinely excellent. In fact, as good a director as Bill Condon is, I think it will be hard for him to top David Slade's Twilight offering. Also, I thought the writing of the third film was vastly better than the first two, and the actors rose to the occasion.
-
They'd certainly provide better performances
