Doomed! Doomed! The Behind the Scenes Pics of the Day are all doomed!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!
Hopefully you guys took a look at the bonus BTS column today that comes with a great Dark Crystal/Empire behind the scenes photo and info on how to win a copy of the great Making of The Empire Strikes Back written and compiled by J.W. Rinzler. Judging from my bursting inbox I’m certain a fair amount of you check it out, but if not here’s the link.
You have that nice bonus picture and today’s Behind the Scenes Pic is really multiple shots of the same moment in time, focusing on the great Tom Savini working on the Young Jason make-up from the very first Friday the 13th. I know it's not Friday, but it is October 13th, so there's some reason for me picking this today!
The make-up looks good, but kinda cartoony in broad daylight, but boy do I remember the tension waiting for that little bastard to jump out of the water and drag poor Adrienne King down with him. It made me jump every time, I couldn’t ever get the timing right and it’d always surprise me. Kudos, Mr. Cunningham.
Here are the pics! Enjoy!

If you have a pic you think should be included email me. I’m looking for the iconic, the rare or the just plain cool behind the scenes shots to feature here.
Tomorrow’s Behind the Scenes Pic is a popular one with the submitting readers. It might not be super rare, but I couldn’t follow up a Jason pic with just any old movie monster. It has to be his biggest ‘80s competition. The man with knives for fingers… See you tomorrow!

but interesting none-the-less
-
And looks like he's barely aged a day in 30 years.
-
and Savini looks mighty dorky there.
-
This was pre-surgury...his work is amoung my favs...such character in the make up.
-
I distinctly remember at the beginning of the film that the female riding in the pickup truck with the two guys was giving one of them a hand job. Didn't know much about sex when I saw it, but I remember I was with my cool Aunt (would take me to R rated movies) and it embarrassed the shit out of me. Anyway, the shot isn't in any release I have seen since then. Drives me nuts, cuz no one believes me. Aunt is dead unfortunately.
-
mighty fine work there
-
i can only asume he was so cheap that he opted to humiliate himself by endorsing rather than pay out of pocket. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBR0GMvXCow
-
his contribution to the Maniac commentary. It features the biggest bunch of inarticulate meatballs to ever record one. Hysterical.

Today's BTSP was not really interesting.

The guy my ex broke up with me for looks like that

true story

Tom Savini at his best.
-
Dude WTF, your pretty bad at remembering stuff. Perhaps you have some repressed abuse that you've associated with Friday the 13th?
-
remember?
-
I'm concerned for you. I hope you're okay. To be honest for a moment, I've done that kind of thing with a movie before. I know deep down I'm probably wrong, but I still have a hazy memory of something happening in a movie that apparently never did happen in it.
-
That sexual abuse post just freaked me out. Don't do that to a neurotic.
-
It was a wide shot of the the pickup truck but you could see her arm moving up and down in where his lap would be. Wasn't like a porno shot or something like that.
-
Classic
-
is not the same one they actually filmed is it? I do have a copy of "Bizzaro"... I do love Creepshow! Savini's got a cartoonish style to his designs that fit that movie.
-
i realize he isn't a kid anymore but for a 3 second cameo in a dream sequence, and he's now always making appearances at Friday/horror conventions and whatnot. i wonder if the kid from Freddy Vs. Jason expected the same future? :P

If they had kids, at least there's no hiding who the real dad is. That is a serious mask. Savini rules!
-
Are these justin bieber pics from?
-
It is sill one of my favorite film franchises.
-
Two words, one meaning. As of now.

I know it's unlikely, but if Harry were to sire a child..
by BoRock_A_Boomer
it could turn out like Tom Savini
-
Where did Captain Manwarring go?
-
If so, sweet! It kicks ass!
-
THAT would have been weird.
-
....he looked FUCKED UP as a kid too.
-
I always think of Hysterical, the film that can't seem to find it's way to DVD!
-
in fangoria
-
I remember seeing the very first Friday The 13th movie on Showtime as a kid/teenager and thinking...this is SUCH a cool movie! What I didn't know was how the movie was going to end (I should have known something was up with thhe dreamy-"Carrie"-esque" sequence that something was going to happen! ha!)...I remember watching this movie with my Aunt and she was like..."Ok wait for the way the movie ending..." and I am like "Ok, what's the big deal?" and then...BANG! Jason jumps out of the water and grabs the girl! Awesome! It made me jump and startled the crap out of me! Excellent way to just about bring the movie to a close!
-
cuz he just don't age..With this and Romero's Dawn Of The Dead released about the same time, Savini really made his mark.
-
me too.
-
A BTS of that show would be great.
-
I remember that when Fangoria printed these pics, the publicity dept. captioned them as the "mongoloid kid" (the outdated term for those with Down Syndrome). I try not to be overly PC, but even back then, I thought that was a bit harsh. And judging from the reaction of parents with children with Down Syndrome, I wasn't the only one. Great makeup, bad description.

Friday the 13th pt 2 was filmed in my hometown
by Grammaton Cleric Binks
The "doomed" old coot guy was also in that one until Jason got a hold of him.
-
It's cool how he was able to get the other side of that kids face to look normal.
-
Ah bollocks. Crappy Friday the 13th. Thought it was gonna be class like Dad's Army too.
-
day of the dead - hands down.
-
That kid *does* look better with a bit of eye-shadow on. It really brings out his eyes. Although I think it's bringing out the right one a bit too much.
