So Fox Likes The ALIEN Prequel Script by LOST's Damon Lindelof...

Merrick here...
I am deliriously tired at the moment so please forgive the lack of fuller commentary/characterization, but I wanted to get this information out there. Following THESE reports that Fox and Sir Ridley Scott were at odds over the target rating of Scott's new ALIEN prequel (Fox was said to want PG-13, Scott was said to be gunning for an R)...and rumors of alleged budgetary concerns (some reports pegged Scott's desired budget for the project at a whopping $250 million - others say it's closer to $150-$160 million)...Vulture now reveals that LOST's Damon Lindelof has delivered a budgetarily attractive, PG-13 script revamp that makes the studio very happy. The Powers That Be at Fox and Scott Free are now said to be eying Natalie Portman for the prequel's lead - "that of a female Colonial Marine general" - with Noomi Rapace (the Swedish version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO) garnering considerable interest as well (we'd previously heard her name associated with the picture). All per THIS piece at Vulture, which characterizes the prequel not as a "reboot" but as "Ridley Scott's second ALIEN movie."
