New Jersey is rapidly taking over the nation one state at a time and their next stop is South Park.Last Week “South Park” re-established itself as cable’s top-rated scripted series:

People used to say about Renny Harlin "where does this accordian adjust?" (It's true, he really said that in an interview). The same is true of Matt and Trey - where does their accordian adjust? How far can the sails of the instrument of God billow out until the limit is reached?<P> Matt and Trey have looked for this apex of comedy for so very long - for it is uncharted waters; a region of comedy yet uncharted by the true greats of satire.<P> I, for one, will be watching for any reference to "The Situation", "Snooki", or even "J-Wow" in order to quench my thirst for top-drawer satire and Swiftian wit writ large in cartoon form - for (for example) Family Guy would never dare tackle such a high-brow issue.<P> Bravo, Sirs - I doff my cap to you and bid you Godspeed in your quest to break apart the thin fabric that makes US television so obtuse - and expose it so the rest of us can understand.

All these Nascar, Jersey Shore parodies seem like small potatoes compared to the fact they were almost killed earlier this year. Maybe the 200th should have been their last. They could've at least gone out on a high note.

Thatcher: raw please. waitress: and the vegetables? camera pulls out to thatchers cabinet. thatcher: they'll have the same.

that was my fave show growing up in ireland. I never missed an ep. the ones with the royals were outstanding. but if I had a top three. thatchers political demise in which thatcher is on her own and they turn off the lights. gerry adams puppet and adams desctription of decommissioning and the exploding norma major. I know I said three. but ridiculing of paddy ashdown was funny as was the description of mandelson being a anaconda. and the slug like kenneth baker. Spitting image was the greatest british satirical show ever in the history of Modern uk tv. that and channel fours bremner bird and fortune special on Iraq. called between iraq and a hard place. and of armando iannuchis saturday night armistice. and the bafta award winning the thick of season three. peerless. absolutely peerlees.
Oct. 13, 2010, 7:11 a.m. CST
Spitting Image in its day, was peerless. <br /><br />My favourite moment, was when it turned to a live video of David Steele (who was frequently lambasted in the show as the miniature david, next to the normal sized David Owen) and he explains to the viewers that "At this point, the normal rules of satire break down".<br /><br />In other words, the reality of the situation they were mocking, had gone so insanely batshit crazy, it was impossible to mock any further. So they simply explained what had really happened, to the audience.<br /><br />It felt like we had passed a comedic event horizon, into a black hole where satire and reality had traded places like space and time, and the normal rules no longer applied.<br /><br />Bremners "Between a rock and hard place" should have ended Blair's career years earlier, but no one pays attention to Channel 4. "Sir, we've just received this Bin Laden video." "Is it real or one of ours?"

Ever since the Mohammad censorship debacle it almost seems as if Matt and Trey have given up, said "eff you" and decided to just go for cliched, and broad and noncontroversial, targets like NASCAR, NJ and 80s summer camp movies.

Sorry to say, but it's true.
Oct. 13, 2010, 8:42 a.m. CST
Everyone knows NASCAR is an easy target. And they brought nothing new to the subject. Just a piss-poor execution. It does seem like they are grasping for ideas at this point.

the only parts that were funny .... were the 'my wife, my muse' and 'i went out and bought stuff that i can't afford like poor people do...' yeah, but bad episode.
Oct. 13, 2010, 9:23 a.m. CST
Come on, guys, give it a rest (at least til the end of this half season). It's been one ep! Yeah, the Nascar wasn't that funny, but this is the second half of a so-far brilliant season. Plus, every half season since SP began they tend to have some gems AND a few shitty ones (Marijuana Balls next to the Retard Summer Camp). It's hilarious that you guys are saying SP is dead and M+T have given up after ONE FRIGGIN EPISODE! Do you really just sit around and look for things to bitch about? Jersey Shore may be an easy target, but if we're lucky M+T can still make gold out of it. Hell, Michael Jackson was an easy target and the Mr Jefferson ep is still a classic. Sometimes I think AICN should start an anti-depression med shop, as so many of the TB'ers seem to do nothing but piss and moan. Give it a rest.

Last week definitely committed the sin of being pretty boring. But people have been forecasting the downfall of this show since the first episode. I have no doubt that the day will come when they fall out of touch and become unfunny and irrelevant, but I sure haven't seen it yet. Plus this looks to be a fucking Randy episode. Randy eps generally tend to rock.

Still a fan- still watch a billion repeats.
Oct. 13, 2010, 11:11 a.m. CST
can never be entirely bad. Any time Randy gets drunk, or gets really worked up over something, hilarity ensues.
Oct. 13, 2010, 11:22 a.m. CST
Completely agree. I cannot remember one randy episode that was bad. This episode is going to be great.
Oct. 13, 2010, 11:30 a.m. CST
was hilarious. Again, I agree, wasn't their deepest satire, but it was funny as hell. I haven't laughed as hard as I did when Cartman was driving all over the place in a while.
Oct. 13, 2010, 12:08 p.m. CST
Fuckballs really? Give it a rest. This show has been consistently good for 12 years. Deal with it.
Oct. 13, 2010, 3:30 p.m. CST
Except, I don't. Somewhere down the road, people quit teaching their kids that "If you don't have anything good to say, shut the fuck up" and changed it to "If you don't have anything good to say, get on the internet and spread your hate and negativity to the far corners of the earth." <p> For my money, South Park is good as ever. Some great episodes, some ok, some lame. Still batting over .500 for me though, so I'm hanging in.
Oct. 13, 2010, 4:39 p.m. CST
They can't top themselves every fucking week. Jesus Christ. I just wish they'd go after Obama. That fucking moron is comedy gold. Since M & T are libertarians they should be having a field day with that piece of shit.
Oct. 13, 2010, 5:34 p.m. CST
My brother about gave up dipping after seeing that. That was a 3 out of 5 star episode.

Ugly American was funnier.
Oct. 14, 2010, 12:28 a.m. CST
So New Jersians = Muslims <br> "Oh noes! they're taking over the country!"<br>Of course only a minority of NJ people are really like that, enough to get a TV show on MTV. Ditto Muslims in America are mostly like Kyle, they like America and just want to get on with their lives. But dumb rednecks (who can't think further than Fox News allows them to) get all pissed about a "minority" trying to "take over" and treat people of a different culture like some kind of Zombie Horde.<br>Got that?
Oct. 14, 2010, 1:56 a.m. CST
your interpretation is so wrong I don't know where to begin...this show was ripping on the Jersey Shore/Real Housewives popularity in America which is huge...and Al Qaeda still being crazy assholes as far as the redneck thing...nice that you fall right into the libby stereotype of ripping fox news...fox news is evil and Bush was a nazi...YAWN!!! I bet you can't even knock Fox News without bringing up Hannity or Beck...and if you bring up O'Reilly I know you're an idiot love how liberals always preach tolerance, except they aren't tolerant of fox news or any conservative point of view on television...nice double standard

Ugly Americans has ideas and expresses them in clever ways, even when being stupid. South Park is totally out of ideas and just shits on the next thing that Matt & Trey see. Everything is now Cartman Cartman Cartman who has brought a new level of antisemitism lately that is appalling - play any online first person shooter and within a day you'll be hearing "dirty jew bastard!" and similar, because Cartman says it. And as for this week's episode, way to think outside the box, another episode where thing X is threatening to take over and the people of South Park react strongly only to end up being proven somehow right.
Oct. 14, 2010, 5:37 a.m. CST
Two weeks in a row, an idea for an episode that elicits a few weak smiles and not much else. Boring and/or not all that funny or memorable. Don't worry, I'm NOT saying the show is "over" or that the show sucks. I'm merely saying these first two episodes were weak/mediocre/"sledge-hammery" not that funny. Let's see what happens next week.

Also: SP showed "RESPECT" for Osama Bin Laden (Randy on the video). Holy shit.
Oct. 14, 2010, 8:35 a.m. CST
Yeah, I consider myself tolerant of a lot of things. Except intolerance, e.g. racism, homophobia or nationalism, which Faux News has in spades. I don't consider this to be an inconsistent opinion.
Oct. 14, 2010, 8:41 a.m. CST
is about as extreme as Pastor Terry Jones threatening to burn a Koran. Since the whole "Can't Draw Mohammed" thing, SP has had to be more careful in how they get their point across. I'm glad they still have something to say though.
Oct. 14, 2010, 10:23 a.m. CST
It worked...<p>Okay, like last week not a classic but enough good to offset the bad. I liked how everyone's behavior was rationalized by saying "Its a Jersey thing", how people excuse their behavior because of their heritage, just like the Jersey Shore cast.<p>Yes, Matt and Trey are shooting fish in a barrel, Nascar and now Jersey, but there is more laughs in 30 minutes of SP than most other so called comedies.
Oct. 14, 2010, 10:24 a.m. CST
can't wait for the new season of Archer...
Oct. 14, 2010, 10:58 a.m. CST
i admit, i posted about last week's being a poor episode... but they made up for it with this one. i really dont know much about the jersey shore show so i thought i wasnt going to like this episode either, but damn.. i thought it was amazing.<br><br>and its been a long time since i watched south park and thought, "i can't believe im watching this," but al qaeda flying planes into the army of jersey shore people.. that was amazing and ballsy.
Oct. 14, 2010, 11:27 a.m. CST
It was nice to see someone taking a stand against that fast-growing subculture of narcissistic imbeciles. The episode is successful if only for trying. <p> Plus Kyle's "transformation" scene in Sizzler was pretty goddam funny.
Oct. 14, 2010, 12:10 p.m. CST
than SP's worst episode. Just like Drawn Together,..it's a stupid sitcom,..animated. Anything on Adult Swim is better.
Oct. 14, 2010, 1:50 p.m. CST
They picked easy targets but the humor and cleverness just wasn't there.<p><p> Oh, and fuck Lindelof and Cuse.
Oct. 14, 2010, 5:08 p.m. CST
Although the real invasion of Colorado is from NY, California and Texas. Whenever I meet someone new, I ask which of those three states they are from. They're always shocked for a second that I know, but everyone here is from one of those three. The last chick I asked lived in BOTH Texas and California before moving here. We do kind of gang up on the natives, so I feel for them.
Oct. 14, 2010, 6:08 p.m. CST
California, Texas and New York? Good guess, anywhere outside those states. Those three states make up more than 25% of the population of the entire United States. It takes more than seven other states (led by Florida) to make up the next 25% of all the people in the US. Colorado has just greater than five million people, making the entire state less populated than New York City, and larger than Los Angeles. If you go to LA, guess non-California native newcomers are from Texas, New York or Florida. You have a one in four chance of being right.

Oct. 24, 2010, 2:42 a.m. CST
Okay, I'm one week behind, but I thought "Jersey Thing" was actually pretty damn good. Must admit that I occassionally watch Jersey Shore simply because it's so bad I just can't switch it off ...the whole trainwreck thing. Anyway, not sure why people are complaining about this ep. I guess it's just become cool to hate South Park. 10 years from now when SP is off the air the same people will get all nostalgic about "how they trashed Jersey Shore" etc.
Oct. 24, 2010, 2:43 a.m. CST
The thing from Thundercats that is.
