ABOUT THE MOVIE
“TRON: Legacy” is a 3D action-packed adventure set in a digital world unlike anything captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Oscar® and Golden Globe® winner Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world’s leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the abandoned Flynn’s Arcade—that could have only come from his father—he finds himself pulled into a world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-or-death journey across a visually stunning universe—created by Kevin Himself—which has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons and landscapes, and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape.
“TRON: Legacy” is directed by Joseph Kosinski, from a screenplay written by Eddy Kitsis & Adam Horowitz, based on characters created by Steven Lisberger and Bonnie MacBird. Presented in Disney Digital 3D™ and scored by Grammy Award®–winning electronic music duo Daft Punk, “TRON: Legacy” hits theaters on December 17, 2010.
If you're at the Austin TRON Night and hear a grown man screaming like a teenage girl at a Beatles concert, that'll probably be me. I've already given the people who'll be sitting next to me permission to punch me in the face and knock me out. I'm pretty sure they want to do every time they see me, anyway - so this'll be an awesome opportunity to get that worked out.
I'm off to play with my Impulse Projection TRON LEGACY figures. They light up and have little projecto-faces that talk - they even have a Jeff Bridges/Clu figure that says Clu things! How dorktacularly cool is that? Sample of projection feature in action starts at around 5:28 in the embed below. No, that is not me on the video walk through - but I thought about it...
These are available HERE
. They're now hitting stores as well - I found some at Toys R Us, but they did not have all of the four available figures when I was there. Amazon does, for now.

The early reports of problems with the movie are wrong or does this mean it's so bad they're trying anything to make it better? I hope it's the first one.

test 1 2 3

That was fast

:)Wowwwwwwww!!! Recently, I came across a hot d-ating s-ite :) ______ B lack w hite f-lirts* c0m ______ It’s the larg est and best c lub for seeking hot babies and single rich guys !!! What’s the most important is: you can meet the one who you’re looking for!!! G O and have a try…..

to enjoy today's movies
-
wait a minute. I rant on the advertisement on this talkback but yet my post is the one not shown? wtf is up with that.
-
excited enough that i can wait another month and half to see the whole movie.
-
I was at EPCOT Center this weekend and it appears that they have taken down most of the light cycle monorails. 4 months ago all epcot monorails were light-cycles, now its only like 1/5 of them.
-
... of a movie I can see entirely a month later? What the FUCK IS THIS SHIT?! Hollywood wants money REAL BAD! Charging extra for 3D, and now this? FUCK THIS SHIT!
-
and why are toys out months before the movie? Who wants to buy the toys to a movie they haven't even seen yet, and unaware if it is good or not? <P> Oh yeah, 35+ year old geeks that will scavenge the toy aisles for the cool items, and leave the crap for kids that want to actually play with the toys.
-
ohh, wait it does'nt count, bummer, end of line.
-
I like females as much as the next heterosexual male, but do they really need a special line of "TRON: Legacy" products and promotions just for women?
-
The first TRON movie was about the master/slave relationship between the kid controlling the character with his joystick in the arcade. What will be the dynamic in this movie, or have they dropped that completely?
-
Is the nerdiest thing I've seen in a long time
-
the dynamic will consist of the electronic world distracting the real-world movie goers with pretty lights and awesome sound so they can remove countless dollars from said cinemaphiles wallets. However, I will be in compliance opening weekend. End of line.
-
if they are that intent to show a 20min preview, why not pair it up with the first movie and make it a real little even. maybe some pre-show crap and then show the first movie followed by the sequel preview. unless they are already planning to do this later or after it opens.
-
Take him away.
-
...then they should also show the original Tron. THAT'D I'd pay to see.
-
Free tix? I suppose I should read in more detail before I post. Apologies.
-
I'm sure, intentional or not, the name was inspired by Eternia's most a$$-kickin' babe!
-
And there go the audiences away from the cinema!
-
I guarantee it will be dropped in favor of more PEW PEW PEW, and a LOT of "phewwww!" Given that test audiences ALONE have already totally rejected this movie, the fact that the "brand recognition" on TRON is somewhere BELOW the monsters from WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE (and we all know how that did!), nobody worth anything cares about these characters and they've rushed to rewrite it from the ground up and try to make all the random scenes work, this looks to become the biggest studio disasrter since...... THE ORIGINAL TRON! What a surprise! But it's okay, it'll have "legs on dvd" (no it won't). This is going to tank worse than anything and will be called DISNEY'S FOLLY PART 2 the way the original was called DISNEY'S FOLLY the first time - a massively expensive sequel to a massively expensive flop that not one person except "Tron Guy" wants and we all know how brilliant Tron Guy is. Hooray for sequels and reboots and reimaginings!
-
from the talkback alone that not even the geeks wanna see it, with the few number of posts.

It appears our priorities are really, really, really fucked up
by ravenloff
I would have been willing to admit that the western world was really, possibly even really, really fucked up with our priorities. But, with as much shit that's happening in the real world and with as much shit that's coming down the pike at us, a 10-WEEK GLOBAL COUNTDOWN to a fucking movie just ratchets the morale and optimism down another notch. This being said from an eternal optimist (so I thought) and one helluva big Tron geek. Getting worked up, even just a little, about a movie that's "coming soon" is fine and a definite part of the movie-going experience. Trying to get a single film to dominate our media lives for weeks on end just seems to smack of "we got nothin' better to do". As a father of four...I'm frankly a bit worried. Oh, I'm still going to see Tron when it comes out, but count me out of the mediaporn beforehand. Count me out with disgust at the whole thing.
-
"... on Facebook.com/TRON."<p>Can it? Because I can't find it. Does the information not go up until the ticket giveaway goes live? Does this mean the giveaway is being done through facebook? It's possible I missed some vital clue as to how to get these free tickets to this preview. From my reading the article a couple of times and checking out the facebook page, all I know is when it's happening and that tickets will be available on a "first come, first served" basis starting tomorrow. Where one goes and what one has to do to get served is not obvious to me (nor do I even know if any IMAX theaters close to me will be participating). Any one else find this information lacking in certain necessary details?
-
Cameron wasn't nearly this self-indulgent, and he's Cameron. I'm reasonably warm and fuzzy about what they're doing with the movie and all, but the Second Coming it is not. Interest will probably be on the wane by the time the actual release happens.
-
No really, I did. Not kidding. It's comprised mostly of extensions of scenes from the trailer. Sam going to the arcade, Sam waking up inside the computer and getting mistaken for a rogue program, Sam fighting in "The Games", getting rescued by Quorra etc. I'll say this the aesthetic design is brilliant, completely capturing the 80's techno vibe while using all the modern technology at its disposal. The weak link here is, in fact, Garrett Hedlund, the guy just doesn't have enough natural charisma to carry the screen as straight man, and comes off as doing that cliche "Im a young actor squinting and trying to look cool" thing. He was a drag.
-
So yeah, Cameron was indeed that self indulgent, and even moreso.
-
This is really worrying. Either they really think they have a gigantic blockbuster on their hands and are so excited that they're pushing it to the moon...or it sucks and they're overcompensating with hype. It'll be worse than Lucas killing Star Wars for me, if it's the latter.
-
But still can be a fun movie for the peopl who realise IT IS A MOVIE. and tickets were annouced on FB last week and they of course will be distributed through Flynnlives.com and porably Tron / disney website
-
Which "test audiences" are you talking about?
-
and then i will go back and read the whole book...with ALL the suprises and points ruined. NO THANKS. This society has become sooooo Instantaneous gratification. No payoffs...all hype. I will wait to see the whole movie later this year.
-
Anyone? Are we the poor cousins again? But we have The Hole! Haha. Which ROCKS! Seriously, please....?
-
Wake me up when Troff is coming out.
-
For anyone complaining about the hype. Were you guys alive in 1989? Do you not remember Batmania? Tron has a long way to go before it even reaches that level.
-
UK Tickets are avalible. I got my tickets for Glasgow IMAX Sunday evening. Can't wait (I'll be heading to pub after for a few lagers.)
-
Hoo boy, this smells of Phantom Menace, if you ask me. NO THANK YOU.
-
I'm guessing that's why they're trying to hype this up the wazoo. They don't want a repeat of '82. They don't want just the geeks who have actually heard of and seen the original TRON. They want all the people who saw Avatar. Whether they'll succeed is the question of course.
-

Why the fuck would anybody want to watch 20 minutes of a movie?
by Black Jesus
Trailers have already become spoiler-heavy mini versions of the movie, why would you want to watch a 20 minute preview? This is just stupid. Just release a few fucking trailers and then we can go see the movie in it's entirety when it comes out. Fuck this nonsense.
-
I must have watched "Tron" dozens of times back when I was a kid, but for the life of me, I can't fucking remember what even happens in it. Oh well...I'm still looking forward to this.
-
uh oh
-
Get TRON out again, i'll remind you, it's actually pretty shit.
-
I loved that far more than the movie anyway.
-
Why would anyone, especially a fan who is going to go see the full movie anyhow, want to see a small but presumably significant portion of the film early? I'll see the movie, but have no interest in any preview or even more trailers or clips really... it will just give away stuff that would be better to see in context as part of the final movie experience. Oh, and that figure review was so perfectly nerdy... that guy was awesome! Couldn't have been a more ideal nerd if he had tried.
-
Loved the tease w/ Avatar - really helped build buzz locally w/ fam & friends.
-
... the dance party/club scene was very cool. <br><br>Flynn's was good for freaks of the movies. <br><br>The video game previewss weren't very impressive. <br><br>The 20 minute 3D preview in the muppet theater was just okay. It consisted of an extended scene where Flynn Jr. (Sam Flynn?) is captured at the arcade and then processed into the games followed by an extended trailer. The dialog was a little cliche' and the Flynn Jr character comes across as a little too slick. The visuals are (expectedly) stunning. But the 3D is less then impressive. In fact it was indistinguishable from 2D in some scenes. It looks like it was done in post like Alice in Wonderland. Disney's 3D just isn't good. I'm guessing Legacy will probably be great eye candy, but ultimately disappointing.
-
you DO know that only the "in-game" scenes are in 3-D, right? Maybe thats why you said it was indistinguishable in some scenes - because the "real world" scenes ARE in 2D.
-
This might be a crazy idea. But how about just waiting to see the whole thing all at once.
-
<br><br>Exhibit A: The trailer - the real world scenes are not in 3D. Take off your glasses and you'll see. But more importantly,<br><br>Exhibit B: The filmmaker sthemselves have revealed this to be true. Using 3D the way Wiz/Oz used color. <br><br>http://io9.com/5453446/tron-legacy-will-use-3+d-the-way-the-wizard-of-oz-used-color<br><br>Only in-game is in 3D. <br><br>Get YOUR facts straight, dumbass.
-
...since you come in here all condescending and it turns out I was right, and you are the one talking out your ass.
-
Black Guard, Venture Brothers should sue.
-
ok, you go ahead and doubt THE DIRECTOR OF THE FILM.
-
goes back to the Renaissance.
-
sweet!!! cant wait!
-
Is there another website other than the broken http://www.tronnight2010.com/details.htm?
-
I am guessing there will be only 1 show. I know for Avatar they originally had 2, then added 2 more. Any chance that happening with this?
-
For Montreal ! Yeah !
-
try simply <p> http://www.tronnight2010.com
-
Thanks
-
Got in at the start time and hooked up my tickets. Visually, I'll be expecting a lot. Other than that, we'll see.
-
Merrick, Thanks for the link. Saved me time and was able to send it out to friends as well.
