You're seriously asking if South Park has been renewed for another season? It's one of Comedy Central's highest rated shows and makes a bunch of money. It's never going to get cancelled. It'll end when Trey and Matt decide they don't want to do it anymore.

  • Oct. 6, 2010, 2:19 p.m. CST

Ha-ha! NASCAR is an easy target though.

    by fiester

Rather see them go after something more interesting.

yes its the biggest show that comedy centtral has but the way the network caved to that controversy over the whole islamic website thing maybe matt and trey will say "fuck you" next year im just saying

  • Oct. 6, 2010, 2:39 p.m. CST

I doubt if Matt and Trey will go the easy route

    by skimn

in lampooning NASCAR. They tend to give it a bit of a twist. Butters as pit crew? Yeah

    Days of Thunder Spoof?

    Or a Talledega Nights one-shot??

    These split seasons are bullshit

    by Hervoyel

Season 14 has been mostly weak but the biggest problem with South Park (and Venture Bros. too) is this crap where they take a season that's already short as all hell and then split it over the course of a year (or more!)

  • Oct. 6, 2010, 6:56 p.m. CST

I could see this tying into the Mohammed thing

    by OutsideChance

...I wouldn't be surprised if Matt and Trey somehow turn this into a "yeah, we can make fun of white christians all day and that's cool with Viacom--go figure" thing.

  • Oct. 6, 2010, 10:44 p.m. CST

    Episode sucked...

    by T-RACE

    However, Ugly Americans was hilarious.

    Man, I was just disappointed

    by Fuzzyjefe

This epi was just un-funny. Gah. I wish I could say otherwise, I really do. I enjoyed most of last season, but this was not a good start for new episodes.

  • Oct. 7, 2010, 12:03 a.m. CST

    mmm.. yeah..

    by soup74

i thought every episode of the first half of the season was good. this episode... not so much. making fun of nascar might have been funny 5 years ago. i was hoping matt and trey would have a funny outlook on it (like when they did the jonas brothers.. i thought.. hmm, lame topic, but they found a clever angle.) they kind of dropped the ball here. oh well, im a die hard, so this is just one episode that didnt speak to me. hope i enjoy next week more.

  • Oct. 7, 2010, 12:04 a.m. CST

Funniest part was the redneck blog

    by ShabbyBlue

Especially Butters popping up in the background doing a redneck voice too.

  • Oct. 7, 2010, 12:37 a.m. CST

    Ugly Americans was way funnier

    This episode was indeed weird...

    by LordEnigma

because this is how Matt and Trey defend something from attack. Seriously, if you think everyone who watches Nascar are poor and dumb. You obviously are taking a lot of vagisil. That's easily one of the more obtuse points this show has ever made.

  • Oct. 7, 2010, 3:05 a.m. CST

I wasn't born with a plastic spoon in my mouth.

    by PurityOfEssence

Probably the best line of the show.

Plastic spoon line only funny thing

    by OutsideChance

And even that was ripped off from the Who.

"I'm sorry that I wasn't born with a plastic spoon in my mouth!"

    by DanielKurland

This episode was fucking wonderful. Cartman acting stupid, and then doing his almost Shakespeareanly eloquent asides to Butters, just to emphasize how much of a character he is playing, and how much he fully believes in the "science" of how Nascar works. Not that what he is doing is wrong, but that he's just not dumb and poor enough. Mix that with him killing dozens of people, and that scene of him downing all the Vagisil in the store (and the subtle noises he makes) and you have a great episode. And it's nice to see Kenny playing the Stan/Kyle role. The only bad thing about this episode is that this "season" probably has the worst title sequence in a while, especially when having 200/201 last year, they could have had soem wonderfully nostalgic clips.

    Worst SOUTHPARK Ever?!?!?!?

    by Graphix67

Wow. That sure was lazy as hell. So Matt and Trey pick "NASCAR" as their random subject to ridicule for the week. So far so good. But just how damn lazy was it to set it up by having Cartman simply WALK ONTO THE TRACK and hop into a car???? What if NASA becomes a subject? Would they simply have Kenny dropped off in front of the gate and run onboard the Space Shuttle just to get the gags rolling??? Double-dog damn that was lazy!

  • Oct. 7, 2010, 10:34 a.m. CST

    @Graphix

    by DDillustration

It's a cartoon! Did you expect them to show cartman going through Nascar training? Seriously. You act as if you expected realism, or something. I think people have come to expect SO much from Southpark, that when they're not completely blown away, they're immediately underwhelmed. Not me. I can appreciate all of the episodes for what they bring.

  • Oct. 7, 2010, 12:41 p.m. CST

Not their best but enough funny to warrant MY 30 minutes

    by skimn

Those who think Matt & Trey picked an easy target in NASCAR, miss the target. They're making fun of the stereotype that Nascar fans, thus the drivers, are stupid rednecks. I liked how the guys tried to talk Cartman out of it by calling him stupid and retarded, just what Cartman needed to hear to convince him. The Vagisil sponsorship illustrated just how ridiculous some of the sponsors of Nascar are, and the spokesman didn't care about the race, or anything but the exposure to his product. Matt and Trey have commented on the commercialization of sports going back to Baseketball, and probably long before that. Butters is always a plus, and course Cartman had to ask for his money back by the end of the episode.

  • Oct. 7, 2010, 3:06 p.m. CST

    It was funny

    by applescruff

I seriously don't get the hate. Loved the opening scene, chugging the Vagisil was hilarious and anytime Cartman murders people I laugh. I'm personally glad they went with something like this and not some sort of topical episode to start. Its a good sign for the rest of this season in my book.

And to the guy who said this season has been weak, I have to disagree. This has been the best season overall since season 9 so far. The Medical Marijuana episode and the Facebook one were both great, and there was some funny moments throughout the 200 two parter. And the weaker eps (sex addiction, Catcher In The Rye, cripple camp) were at least much stronger than the weakest ones from the last few seasons (Dead Celebrities, Pee, Britney's New Look, the Twilight ep, the 24 ep, Manbearpig, truly shite episodes). Right now this season has the potential to finish off really strong and herald somewhat of a return to form for Matt and Trey. At least in terms of overall consistency. I'll be the first to admit that since season 10 this show has been on shaky ground. I can't always guarantee that I'm going to laugh at an episode anymore. But this season, for me, has started to turn that around and I've begun to look forward to Wednesday again. If South Park keeps this up, I've got 3 nights of TV watching each week for a little while, which is the most I've had in quite a bit (this on Wed. Sunny on Thur. Eastbound on Sun.)

Alright guys, time to pack it in.

    by Raymar

    That was terrible.

  • Oct. 7, 2010, 6:21 p.m. CST

    I liked this episode

    by RedBull_Werewolf

Trey and matt were able to poke fun at rednecks by not really poking fun of them because it was Cartman's take on the nascar culture. The white trash accent was hillarious, I know several hicks that talk like that on a daily basis.
Best line "I'm gonna drive and i'm gonna fast and then i'm gonna turn left"

  • Oct. 8, 2010, 5:44 a.m. CST

    AMAZING EPISODE!!!!

    by ass clown

I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF THE ENTIRE TIME. I'M SORRY BUT CARTMAN DRINKING VAGISIL TO BECOME KILL BRAIN CELLS SO HE CAN DRIVE NASCAR WAS BRILLIANT. HOW COULD YOU NOT LAUGH AT THE VAGISIL GUY RIPPING ON HIS WIFE'S VAGINA AND CARTMAN'S INTERPRETATION OF NASCAR FANS.

  • Oct. 8, 2010, 8:36 a.m. CST

    @DDillustration

    by Graphix67

DD, of course I realize it's a cartoon. And "yes" they often get stone-cold wacko with the setups. But, the lazy and casual way they set-up this episode was slapped together without any consideration of the storyline. Remember the "Free Willy" episode when they fired the Orca whale onto the moon? Trey and Matt went to the trouble of actually having the kids visit the water park and GAVE A REASON WHY THEY GOT INVOLVED WITH THE HI-JINKS THAT FOLLOWED. So, this week they wanted to rank on NASCAR. Fine. So what do they do? They have Cartman run onto the track and hop into the car and start racing.... Where was the effort?!?! LAZY!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oct. 8, 2010, 9:53 a.m. CST

    YOU LIE GRAPHIX67

    by ass clown

TREY PARKER ADEQUATELY SET UP CARTMAN'S NASCAR RACING. CARTMAN AND BUTTERS COAXED A DRIVER OUT OF HIS NASCAR BY CLAIMING HIS SISTER WAS RAPED. THEN, CARTMAN SNUCK IN AND STARTED DRIVING. IT WAS A BRILLIANT SET UP. AFTER THAT, THEY REALIZED HE COULDN'T DO IT AGAIN SO THEY HAD VAGISIL SPONSOR A NASCAR FOR HIM IN THE NEXT RACE. IT WAS UTTER BRILLIANCE.
