Struzan is actually very candid about why the studios didn't use his work on some films like Waterworld and Harry Potter 2. Basically it's a bunch of suits who think his art looks to artsy. I believe he said they would tell him they did market research and that people generally prefer Photoshopped heads instead of painted artwork. When Struzan went on to ask for the research material, they would give him some bullshit excuse and leave it at that. <p> I believe this happened to him over and over again, or he would do prelims but never get callbacks. Basically he says this is why he retired. I personally would prefer Drew's work any day over what we have now and it's a shame that painted movie posters are a dead art. Just to have any of the talent Drew possesses would secure me a great career in the art field. I would like to see him do a book with some step by stop processes to see how he works. The DVD he just put out is way too expensive at 100 bucks.
