I cant wait to see this
-
...the WD producers need to let their title guys know they won't be needed this season and just go with this instead.
-
I agree it is a perfect opening for the show!!!!
-
... mighty impressive.
-
...the trailer leads me to believe they're setting this up to feel epic in scope. And by "epic," I mean "important." This animation looks cool as hell, but doesn't feel important, or weighty, or epic. But maybe it's just me.
-
let's just wait and see, huh?
-
Thanks for the non-update. What the fuck?
-
I don't think the guy was trying to fool anyone.
-
jeezus, we're boring.
-
Someone sent this to me last night, and I thought, "It's fake, yet it's just about perfect." Hope AMC doesn't do worse. Anyone know what song and artist this is?
-
. . . so that'll do. Cool non-news beats not-cool actual news. Pleasure over truth.
-
they used that song on True Blood this past season
-
I absolutely love Halloween, so getting the debut of a series like this on Halloween night has me really fucking excited. a guy I work with is a MAJOR comic geek and has been lending me a shitload of his (fairly impressive) comic collection, and this is one series I've notified him that I've gotta get my hands on. I think he's got the entire run(thus far), so I'm planning on reading it in its entirety right before the 31st.
-
They also ripped off the entire art style! I saw almost all these pages in the comic book! It's like they just took things that worked and used them to make this animation look cool.
-
This is not what I imagine when I think of the Walking Dead comic (and TV series). This is like a cross between the "300" end credits and "Bored to Death" opening credits.
-
So we have this fake, the fake Pokemon trailer thing, I mean...is that what this site is becoming? "Hey guys check out this cool fan made non news...that was probably posted on several other sites days before, too."
-
Maybe they bloody well should use that opening. For a fake, it's damn good.
-
So what is that? It looks REALLY polished to just be someone's busy work/weekend project. What DO the opening title credits look like? Who is your source?
-
Well, agreed, the main problem is that it wasn't really as "new" as it could be. But "cool fan-made" still should count for something or other, if enough of us enjoy it. AICN has never been my "go to" news source, anyway.

Umm, I bet it will open this way
by DanielPlainviewOnVacationInBoston
Because that was too damn cool.
-
....why the fuck not? That's perfect. Song and everything.
-
Fuck you to death.
-
I'd be more than happy if that really was the opening. Great job!
-
Illustration/Animation major. It's a well done opening title sequence, don't get me wrong, but I know a few dozen art students who could be as good or better.
-
God, I can't wait until Halloween!
-
a fan made this, it's cool, everyone is digging it. EVERY SINGLE PLACE this is posted, people are saying how cool it is.
where is the one place where whiny fucking assholes that have to complain about GODDAMN EVERYTHING will talk shit about it? the AICN talkbacks. un-fucking-believable.
that's right! have no opinion other than everything sucks? come to the AICN talkbacks!
feel the need to complain about a site endlessly, WHILE STILL VISITING IT EVERY DAY? come to the AICN talkbacks!!!
when other people are enjoying something, do you feel a compulsive craving to get negative attention by spewing hatred? come to the AICN talkbacks!!!!!!!
do you get a raging hard-on whenever you see your own screen name as a subject line? come to the AICN talkbacks!!!!!!!!
you idiots would be sad if you weren't so aggravating.
-
on CNN.com first, no joke. It's getting a lot of publicity. Again, if anything is right about this it's the song. Never heard it, but it sets a great tone for it. Especially with the last line.
-
That was actually really good. Didn't drag on at all, good song that fits the theme, and gave a nod to it's comic roots.
-
To the people complaining about posting this vid - you couldn't be any more fuckwittier if you tried (and I'm imagining you guys try very hard at your fuckwittery). Fuckwits!
That was a very cool little faux-credit sequence. Thanks for posting it, Herc.
-
AICN is the one site on the innernet that is now synonymous for having the worst fucking community imaginable, every talkback is littered with assholes, every discussion soon descends into a farce and every fucking single piece is peppered with spamming cunts and trolls, not to mention the site hardly breaks any new shit unless it’s from one of Harry’s mates in which case were treated to a heavily biased foaming at the mouth arse fuck of a piece with waaay to much reference to teenage wank fantasies.. I now just pop in and out once a day to read the odd piece of mildly interesting news and then get the fuck out of here to a site that’s not the internet equivalent of a trashy celeb mag
-
even liked the title song
-
all the trolls congregate here, leaving everyone else alone
-
hopefully the real title sequence will be as good. normally i'd say HBO is the title sequence king (c.f. its best work: Carnivale) but AMC also does a good job...
-
but it's not. I hope the show is more serious than some techno shit.
-
This fan-made opening title, while it is indeed put together well, comes across as too lighthearted and jokey. I've always thought that the comic book series as being very grim, and VERY dark. This looks like an opening that would work better for a TV series version of "Zombieland" (which was written originally to be a pilot for a TV series, in fact). I predict the opening title will be similar to LOST's -- that is, very minimal. This fan made trailer seems to be "celebrating" the whole "zombie gore" aspect of WD, which at its heart this comic book series is not really about.
-
watching that just made me run off and put Hombre Lobo on the stereo... fucking great album!
-
That is, it's it not this jokey, heee-larious, light-hearted fare. It's really a far darker take on zombie lore, following Romero's seriousness but minus the the obvious social more commentary. It's more The Road or Children of Men than it is "Buffy" or even Zach Snyder's take on "Dawn of the Dead" (which I liked for what it was) and that was rather serious as well.
-
...I've got every issue and am struggling to think of even one occasion where there was a laugh or light hearted moment to be found... these are great titles alright but i reckon the real opening credits will be so dark you'll need a flashlight to see them...
-
I don't speak for them, of course, but yeah I'll go there: I don't think either man would feel this is an accurate representation of how they envision both the comic and TV series, but I am sure they would totally praise the fan opening credits editor for his enthusiasm for the show.

Here's my theory: the reason why WD took off and has been so critically praised is because it is not, really, about the zombies. The title itself, "The Walking Dead", could metaphorically refer to the living characters. The series is really about the survivors and, frankly, how horribly they treat other fellow survivors in their post-apocalyptic world. This is why, in many ways, Kirkman is the true modern-day successor to Romero.

For several years, there have been zombie comic books, even when WD first came out: Marvel Comics also ran several zombie comic series, and they were all flops. But WD stood out and endured because it wasn't your typical "zombie-plotation" comic.

And that is what this fan-made trailer feels like -- a zombie exploitation presentation of WD. Where in this opening title do you see/sense the *human* angle of the WD series?
-
They're great. This song was also used for the credits of a True Blood episode this season, a lot more appropriately (not that the use here is inappropriate).
-
and don't even come here on weekends. There's some good people on this site but for the most part it's just a bunch of attention seeking douchebags trying to coin a catchphrase or piss and moan about everything. I occasionally leave a comment and very rarely get pulled into a TB conversation, but I swear the only thing that I click on most days is the Behind The Scenes pic, then leave.
-
If this is not the way "Walking Dead" opens..if this is fake? Then why the fuck post it here for us to look at/watch? It's fucking retarded!!! You know, I really enjoy checking Aintitcool.com out on a regular basis..I have been a site regular since way back when it first came online...but sometimes this site just annoys the fuck out of me...like back when all of those "Toy" pics were posted about Transformers 2 and Terminator Salvation...I thought that pretty lame ass! This is supposed to be about News on Movies and TV shows...real news, not fake bullshit crap like this! This is just another example of what I find irritating about and otherwise excellent website. Sorry for the vitriol...maybe it's all the caffine I have partaken of this morning.
-
I get the feeling maybe the music isnt right but the animation is. Its too well done and personally i think its a badass opening and wish they would use it
-
its because it was already on io9 and that where most of this site's stories come from. The buzz about Walking Dead is huge and its an attempt to capitalise on that. Which is fair enough I guess.

AICN has gone rapidly downhill in the last few years, not just since Moriarty left (although I did really enjoy his suff) but also where the fuck is Vern? I like Herc's stuff because it flags up programmes that might be or most definitely are not worth a look, but mostly thats from the TBs and the handful or so decent posters offering their thoughts. There's still the occasional good debate, a recent one on Undercovers was quite good and didn't devolve into just name calling for...well at least 4 days...which is quite the record for this site. The final season of LOST talkbacks were cool too, it was like watching a microcosm of the fanbase as it fractured and eventually collapsed in on itself
-
Is they need 2 or three fresh new writers, not to replace but to add to the existing ones. As to the complaining and nitpicking in the talkbacks, that's what they are here for. If we're not going to nitpick and criticize why even talk about things? That rocks gets old fast. I've done it at at times when it's deserved (some of the new futurama episodes rocked!) but a lot of the time most things fall in the middle and deserve some nitpicking.
As to why this credit sequence is on aicn - it's fan made and this is a fan site, it shows the power of what people like "us" are capable of. It's fun to see an amateur do something that good.
-
Great song, but not for THE WALKING DEAD.
-
I honestly avoided this video for the past few days bc I expected it to be pretty amateurish but... that was awesome.
-
God knows how many fan films exist for upcoming movies/shows. Just because this one was nicely produced warrants space on this site? C'mon guys, give me a break.

News or not, that's cool as hell...
by The_Floating_Skull_of_Robert_Loggia
Excellent job. To me, a perfect marriage of True Blood-style hip/scary and a nice homage to the series comic origins. Were I Darabont I'd seriously consider giving this guy the gig.
-
Sorry Grand Muff, but the general consensus is that that video is pretty fucking COOL. Again, it's getting huge exposure, I was linked to it first by cnn.com. Piss off.

I enjoy the fanmade stuff making AICN news. I liked this.
by SirGaryColeman
This thing is well done.
-
Man, it's too bad rights issues would prevent this from getting picked up. Plus, they probably hired some company six months ago to come up with an opening.

Still thought, absolutely spot-on and if possible, Darabont and/or AMC should pick this up as the actual opening credits.

...that was completely frozen in the middle of the road dead still on its back and the cop looks real close at it and the zombie goes "Grraaaahhh!" scaring the shit out of the cop and he goes flying back onto his ass next to another guy who just had the same thing happen to him? Cop says "is that about what happened to you?" and the other guy says "Yeah, but it was funnier when you did it." I thought that sequence was hilarious.

I've seen this clip on several sites... and EVERYONE talks about how badass it is... except here. And it's a perfect reflection on the community, here. Wonka said it perfect: The AICN talkbacks have the worst people on the internet. Everything sucks to the majority of the regular talkbackers. There's not a single piece of news that people can agree on. It really makes me wonder what kind of people these fucks are in person. Of course, the antidote is simple... don't come here. Which is why I've given up on this site after ten years of visiting almost daily. You people are really the saddest and most pathetic human sacks of waste on the planet. And I'm ashamed to have been counted amongst you. I really have to get away, because I'm certain your stupidity is contagious. And it's not just the talkbackers, it's the fucks that run this site, as well. Just when will Harry shut the fuck up about vintage porn, his wife's stupid nickname, or carrying Ron Bergundy's ass baby? If Harry wants to talk about himself, talk about why the fuck he's in a wheelchair... because no one seems to know. I've been asking for years, and no one knows. Not that it really fucking matters, anyway. But what really pisses me off is how each of the editors are just as bad as the talkbackers. It's all fucking opinions and no professionalism. I honestly hope that none of these writers consider themselves journalists. The only one worse than Harry is Herc. He treats the 'coax' section like his own personal blog, only reporting on shows he likes. It doesn't matter if people are constantly asking for a feature on very geek-related shows that have huge followings. Herc doesn't give a shit about you. The best thing to do is just disappear, and I'm just thrilled knowing that as soon as I finish this rant, I'll click on the 'X' at the top, right-hand of my screen and put this site out of my mind forever. So, fuck AICN... fuck Harry (and Herc)... and fuck talkbackers. nlm
-
It is cool, but I dont care for it. I'd prefer something serious, not zombie focused, and intended to sell the human loss, struggle, and sadness at the heart of the post-apocalypse. In fact, dont show any zombies at all in the title sequence.
-
stylized and not just white on black background. Although title sequences for pay and basic cable have been done pretty well lately.
-
I was going to rip this post as being stupid for showing a fake opening. But having watched it (twice now), I must say it is really cool. Whatever the 'real' opening is, I will now be disappointed that it isn't this.
-
I plan on picking it up this weekend, and this opening wouldn't be out of place for a videogame, also.

If ya wanna see creepy carnivores eating naked women...
by thegreatwhatzit
look no further than www.lilysmidnightsnacks.com I spotted this diner/bistro, quite by accident, while scouting research on zombies. Hot babes are cooked on grills, spits, et al. No gratutious violence but plenty of nudity.
-
if any of you who called this fanmade title sequence too cartoony and not serious ever read the comics? Or are your heads so far up your asses you can't recognize Tony Moore's artwork FROM THE COMICS?! You know... the source material... who some of you also, paradoxically, pointed out is 'as serious as a heart attack'. So how can something be deemed serious in one media and silly in the other?
-
My feelings exactly.
-
Sounds good.
-
by Eels...
-
But I don't see it as a fitting opening for WD. I'm thinking a more "spooky" feeling for the opening. This gives the impression of Michael Bay filmmaking: fast cuts and action. I want eerie and atmospheric.
