Seen The Daily Mail’s Photos From The Set Of CAPTAIN AMERICA??

I am – Hercules!!
New photos of Chris Evans make Steve Rogers almost look like a CGI Hulkified Chris Evans!
Britain’s Daily Mail and INF was all over the set in Manchester, showing a lot of period costumes and period vehicles and Captain America’s hobbity fake feet.
Based on the Timely Comics from the 1940s, “Captain America: First Avenger” is about a spindly American transformed into a mighty supersoldier by a strange formula designed to help defeat Hitler's minions.
Joe Johnston (“Jurassic Park III,” “Hildago,” “The Wolfman”) is directing from a screenplay by the team of Christopher Marcus & Stephen McFeely (the “Narnia” movies) and Joss Whedon (“Toy Story,” “Speed,” “Alien: Resurrection,” “Serenity,” “The Avengers”).
Cast includes:
Steve Rogers: Chris Evans (“Fantastic Four”)
Peggy Carter: Hayley Atwell (“The Prisoner”)
Red Skull: Hugo Weaving (“The Lord of the Rings”)
Dum Dum Dugan: Neal McDonough (“Flags of Our Fathers”)
Arnim Zola: Toby Jones (“W”)
Bucky Barnes: Sebastian Stan (“Hot Tub Time Machine”)
Chester Phillips: Tommy Lee Jones (“No Country For Old Men”)
Abraham Erskine: Stanley Tucci (“The Lovely Bones”)
Howard Stark: Dominic Cooper (“Mamma Mia!”)
Montgomery Falsworth: JJ Feild (“K-19: The Widowmaker”)
Nick Fury: Samuel L. Jackson (“Iron Man 2”)

It's nice to see this site finally posting these pics that have been up all weekend.

Shitty security on this film...................................
by crackerfarmboy
Only one picture leaked from Thor and every scene of this film has been pretty much leaked. Oh well, this should be awesome. Looking forward to Avengers!
-
Hope he pulls it off<p> Cap ain't a smart ass<p> Hope everyone involved realizes that
-
What genius came up with that name

Are you all sore because somebody emailed us about these before you did? <p> Don't be so hard on yourself; I'm sure you'll do better next time.

early prediction: Captain America will be much better than Thor
by Stifler's Mom
The setting, the cast, the costumes- everything is looking decent on Captain America, and Joe Johnston is a good match for the material. But Thor is looking mighty campy and potentially bad, based on some of those early pics.
-
I was under the impression that the entire film took place in the past? Guess I was wrong
-
and post things are circulating the internet. Do we need to hand you things on a fucking silver platter before you post them? Way to be a douche.
-
No amount of biceps will make you Captain America. Forget it, queer bait.
-
I guess I let my inner troll get the best of me.
-
but still Joe Johnston, the guy has beed mediocre at best in his directing career, I hope he does something amazing here, but the guy hasn't really been shining , just providing enough light so we can see what is going on
-
I finally watched Scott Pilgrim this weekend at a second run theater, and when Evans was on screen, I was thinking about him playing Cap, and thinking - "I'm not so sure about that." This silenced me. He looks big as fuck, and - more importantly - like Cap! Not "edgy" or "cool" or "hip", but - kinda square and just plain right. Looking forward to this more and more.
-
I'm usually the douche bag who points out AICN is slow on the scoops.

As I said back then, he looks great.

no silver platter necessary, my man. just shoot us an email with a link. unless you'd rather just bitch and let someone else do it. in which case I say: well done.
-
I thought you only did TV stuff <p> Or is this because whenever your messiah (Whedon for those unaware) is involved in a project you have the right to post the related article ? <p> For those new to Herc, Whedon could produce a 30 minute blank tape and Herc would pronouce it the most important piece of art ever. (I would probably be guilty of the same if Lucas produced a blank tape about star wars) <p> I actually really like Whedon's work in buffy, angel and firefly and could see some positives in Dollhouse (in my opinion great concept, average execution, poor choice for lead "actress")
-
...fucking feet?! That's some Ed Gein shit right there. Why have I not seen ANYONE commenting on the feet yet. This isn't THE HOBBIT...and those feet don't look real. I don't understand why they are needed, seeing as how they'll look all sorts of creepy on film. What's going on with the human-flesh-boots?! Why not wear green socks to be replaced later with CGI. I just don't get it. YOU CAN SEE THE SEAM WHERE THEY SEWED THE FLESH TOGETHER. THAT'S SICK!!!
-
just considering since this takes place in the 40's, it says Jackson is in the role, yet Iron Man takes place present day.
-
Bulked him up a bit, didn't they?
-
I thought I heard something about Captain America being frozen after World War II (in the movies at least...I haven't read the comics) until present day when he's thawed, and lead the modern day Avengers. So...maybe Nick Fury talks to him after he's thawed.
-
to sit around waiting for the readers to tell you what and where the stories are.
-
when THOR tanks, making less than LEGENDS OF THE GUARDIANS THE OWLS OF GAY HOLE, and then CAPTAIN AMERICA tanks and makes even less than THOR - what will happen to the much-vaunted AVENGERS movie? Held back for retooling? Recuts and removals of actors? ReplaCED WITH IRON MAN 3? You heard it here first!
-
Is that the scene needs Cap to be bare foot but it was just too cold and/or there's too much broken glass and whatnot on the ground. So they whipped up some feet-slippers to run around in. Figuring they'll fix it post.
-
...which wasn't a problem at first, since most of Marvels characters were created 20 years after the war ended. Eventually, though, they had to explain why he was still around, and so he was given some kind of Super Soldier treatment (not Cap's, which they keep trying to duplicate and failing) that has extended his lifespan. At least, that's how regular Fury worked... I have no idea if Ultimate Fury dates back to WWII.
-
You'd have to assume that the fake feet are used for the fact im guessing the scene is him running around barefoot on broken glass or something similar, so instead of actually running around barefoot and running the risk of cutting feet...these are used instead
-
i relish the fact that many people tell me i resemble Evans... the only negative is that im 150 pounds and haven't had any muscle definition since i was 17. fuck.
-
You can't make out someone's feet clearly when they're hauling ass... They just need to be vaguely flesh like to work on film for as much as you'll see them.
-
Going through your past posts, I think it's pretty obvious there's a lot of stuff you didn't realize.
-
Been seeing these pics for days elsewhere?

I would think you guys would have thicker skin. Relax man. I don't expect you guys to post everything that's flying around out there but when it has been seen by everybody for a few days already why even bother? I don't think everyone expects you guys to get everything first, but it's just pointless to post it days too late. Just sayin. Now onto the story...this is honestly the first time I have been excited for this. Capt is my personal all time favorite superhero and I hated the Evans casting. But he sure does look the part. I still don't know if he can lead the Avengers though.

I did assume that. I was aware that it had to with a special effect or such...but why so weird looking?! Why not green boots or what-have-you so they could clean it up it post-production? Hopefully those aren't practical effect shots...so I was just confused.
-
Last week's pics with that donut-lovin' stunt guy ain't cuttin' it. Let's see Evans in the suit! And trust me, forgetful Pete, everyone at Marvel/Disney has considered, and deeply fears, your Doomsday Scenario (Thor flops, Cap flops harder). I'm glad to see they're going "all in" and starting to film THE AVENGERS before either is even released. I think it'll add to the buzz for those two films...

Just get your fat ass out of the computer chair. Oh, it helps to have creatine, a personal trainer and your own chef for the right diet.

I like your stuff. You don't have to get all defensive. It's an observable fact that AICN is a shell of what it was 5-10 years ago. It's not your fault - you actually do a terrific job in your TV column and it's also not your fault that Harry will engage any/all of us in an email battle but won't run the site the way he used to. He was too "busy" to review Inception for a fucking month. We get it. We just go to Geektyrant or Comics Alliance or Superhero Hype or the Kryptonsite for our news now. We go to AICN for the occasional dick-suck exclusive or because we appreciate your measured opinion or reviews by people like Capone or Massawyrm. Again, I'm not targeting you: you don't deserve it. Others do.

i say that because my brother is going to begin a new bodybuilding program with a personal trainer. It is a bit expensive but it is the only way to help him get the body he wants, since he spent 3 years in the gym and he only managed to get a fitness body but not a lot of muscular mass. And his personal trainer told him the same thing, you only need good excercises, good diet, will and patience and maybe at the end of the course,a bit of roids, just enough to boost you if your metabolism doesnt help enough.

I tried the email thing in March - it didn't do any good. The problem starts at the top. BTW Thank you for noticing the Whitest Kids U Know 4 seasons late.

Since when is it AICN's business model to wait for links from their readers? Didn't there used to be a network of moles who provided genuine inside info?

-
I didn't read the books when I was a kid so I'm missing some of the details. The Army gives a weakling GI super serum as both a PR stunt and as a way to stop some SuperNazi. It works and we win the war. But why was he frozen? Was it on purpose to keep him young for the next war. And if that was the case why did they keep him on ice for so long. It sounds like Nick Fury got the watered down version of the same stuff and it made him mathuzelah. If it worked that way on Fury why wasn't it going to work on Cap.
-
they're at this point anticipqting it. Why do you think they're working SO hard to keep down info on the movies, to shut off access to pictures of the costumes/sets? They know they've got two dismal failures already and they know the movies won't have legs overseas, and they know that these flicks are gonna fall and fall hard. I suspect it may be a tax loss kind of thing, failures on purpose like THE PRODUCERS, or they would be pulling the plug the way Warner pulle the plug so wisely on the nobody would go see it if his life depended on it JUSTICE LEAGUE. That failed, as we ALL knew it would if we have a brain, to even get made. And hopefully AVENGERS will suffer the same cancellation fate, and we can be done with comic book movies. GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT! SEQUEL REBOOT REMAKE REIMAGINING!
-
Guys film adds weight. I'd be surprised if he's 5/10. Figure Stallone looks big onscreen and he's 5/5 and the lifts make him 5 6". They hire tiny people to make the sets look bigger so it's cheaper to build them and they look more extravagant. That's why downey jr is 5 2" and Daniel radcliff is 3 1". Anyway I'd like to see him kickstart the economy in the film. Perhaps he could encourage hollywood to stop farming out all effects work to india and other nations and perhaps convince the president to subsidize the arts so that america holds on to the ONLY FUCKING industry that they have. Just sayin!

It's nice to see another site's article layout present at Ain't It Cool News. Namtar did this same type of article with the Avengers at NuketheFridge.com. What a rip-off.

Until now most of Marvel's movies are a goldmine.Even Hulk got its money back.At least one of the 2 movies is going to be a hit and even if they both turn out to be flops, then again you will have the spectacle of superheroes and super-villains kicking each other's ass.Avengers is already a big hit based on its own brand-name only. <p>Remember Transformers? the same situation.

Cap was accidentally frozen stopping a missile attack. He supposedly sacrificed himself to stop the Nazis from nuking the US, crashing a missile into the arctic circle instead, but his super soldier serum actually kept him in suspended animation until he was found and thawed out.

Yeah, the freezing thing was a bit of revisionist history from M
by Chewtoy
After the war ended in real life, not surprisingly the popularity of the Captain America comic dropped substantially. (Superheroes in general fell out of favor in comics as well.) Marvel (still called Timely Comics back then, I think) tried to bring Cap back a few times including a "Commie-smasher!" version back in the 50's, but it never really took. Then when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were doing the Avengers in the 60's they decided to bring Cap back to be on that team, and didn't want the crappy post-war comics in continuity. So they wrote a "last mission" flashback for Cap where Bucky died and Cap ended up frozen in the arctic until the Avengers found him. The other post-war Caps were later explained as impostors or other government agents.

For real, is that shit THAT hard? (That's what SHE said!)

regardless if he's actually in the past too, its not exactly a secret that this movie will have modern day scenes as well. so i dont get the confusion of him being in the movie.
-
Chris Evans may look the part but I don't see him portraying a believable Cap.
-
got the Iron Man part.
-
America is going to be the better film, and probably do betterat the b.o than Thor. Much of what im seeing, call me crazy, of CA is looking damn good. Joe Johnson is still the one and only directer to make a great period superhero film (the Rocketeer), while every other attempt (the shadow, the Phantom, the Spirit etc..) have all been terrible...Plus they have hugo weaving playing the Red Skull, how perfect is that? The Red Skull really could be an iconic villain. Plus the WW2 period setting could set CA apart from all other superhero films and make it accessible for people usually not into the typical superhero film imho....
-
can pretty much tell the whole plot from that trailer that leaked. And frankly its a very tv show plot. Plus lets face it they have gone cheap setting it in Arizona. Who wants to bet there wont be that much Asgard in the film?

-
stop pushing that piece of shit script of yours, no one cares. jesus you've been at this for how long now? give it up it sucks horse schlong.
-
No, Cap was unintentionally frozen. Depending which Marvel you read (regular or Ultimate), Cap was thrown into the Artic Ocean as he was trying to dismantle some super rocket built by HYDRA and Baron Zemo. The super soldier serum kept his body alive as he froze in the water. Stark Industries found Cap some forty years later as a part of some glacier. Later stories said that Eskimo-like natives found Cap and fished him out of the water like some secret worshipped god. Namor, the Sub-Mariner, came across these natives and scattered them as he recognized the body of Cap. Nick Fury was given the Infinty Formula, a very watered down version of the super soldier serum which prolonged his life span, not to mention he's been cloned, killed, resurrected, and duplicated himself through decoy androids...
-
Branagh, while a superb actor, as a director with his non-Shakespeare movies he usually just apes whatever style is popular at the time. For example, look at Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Similar in title, aesthetic, and tone to Bram Stoker's Dracula. I imagine elements of the Shakespeare movies he's directed also are mimicking other popular movies that are contemporary with their filming.
-
You can see Caps shield in Starks workshop in the first IronMan movie. Yet he hadn't met Nick Fury at that point. So did Stark Industries find the frozen Cap -before- the events in IM1. And if so have they just not bothered to thaw him or did they thaw him and not inform SHIELD. Because if the end of the Cap movie takes place before the first IM movie you would think Tony would be aware of SHIELD. If these movies are in order then the end of the Cap movies would take place after the IM movies and Tony wouldn't have that shield on his workbench. Am I making any sense.
-
Geezus Christ. Latino Review is kicking this sites ass.
-
jeez, how did harry not catch that goof<p>cap was published by timely, marvel wasnt called marvel till the 60s
-
Cap's shield in IM 1 & 2 could be explained as a prototype he found in his father's stuff.
-
the shield was that it was the only one like it. That it's creation was an accident and had never been recreated. Were there more than one shield?
-
so weird

I know this is out of left field, and off topic, but where's the news about the Aussie Actors guild trying to sink the Hobbit? Been all over NZ News for a few days now. -
What A Bunch Of Cunting Cunts!
-
like a solid, singular disc of Vibranium/Steel alloy like the original one in the books, in the movie it'll be of parts with tech inside to explain how it bounces around and back to Cap, because they are too cowardly to bring in the awe and weird wonder of a superhero universe into the movies. Hence we get too much forced fake slant verisimilitude in these movies.

by savagedave
That could be done in six months or so if you actually worked hard in the gym and paid attention to your diet.
-
it was ignored as usual. It was to do with Mark Millar filming his directorial superhero debut called "Miracle Park" but nobody has been in touch and the news has since been reported on IGN.
-
I'm guessing that Cap doesn't have his shield with him when he's frozen in the 1940s. The shield ends up at Stark Industries, in the possession of Howard Stark (and then his son), for the next sixty-odd years. That way, there's no real reason for Iron Man to have even heard of SHIELD before Fury turns up at the end of the movie. Presumably there will be a scene at the end of 'Captain America' (or 'The Avengers'?) where Cap is reunited with his shield.
-
He looks the part....hurm I just don't know
-
Tony didn't have the actual shield in the lap, if I recall.
-
but, whatever.
-
He was just transformed into Captain America. <P> If you look at his pants, they are not ripped, they are short. Like they are two sizes to small for him. Like he just grew a foot taller. <P> also, the -feet- are covering up shoes so he can run all day while they film that scene
-
First of all he's used the "are you mad someone emailed to us first?" line before. The fact is these pictures were on freaking Yahoo on Friday. Not to mention every other site. Why should anyone have to email it to you guys? To those of us that have been coming to this site for more than 10 years to get new movie scoops this is disappointing. I emailed a scoop on the Motley Crue "The Dirt" movie that's been in the works for years to both Merrick and Quint two weeks ago and never saw it posted. Why? I'm not wasting my time with this place anymore.

Are you going to cover that? Elvira is doing midnight horror films on Saturday nights once again. That's cool news!

I love Chris Evans, but he's a bit too Sam Rockwell
by Snake Foreskin
for my tastes to be Captain America. Let's face it, Chris and Sam could be brothers. They both have that cheesy, smarmy side to them. Especially when they smile. Captain America is far from smarmy and cheesy. Even if he does wear a body suit draped in American flag imagery. Go, Cap!
-
I myself am an out of shape, crappy food eating, too many cigarette smoking heading towards a coronary or something just as bad film fan but I wasn't always - back when I was young and eager and full of hope I used to hit the gym and it's not impossible to bulk up like Evans.<BR>You also have to remember that there's no fucking way that a studio would let the star of one of their tentpole franchises fuck about with any steroids in case he had a stroke, heart attack or got such a tiny willie that his pants looked weird.
-
They're filming in Manchester. The hobbit feet are to protect him from broken beer bottles and heroin needles.

Even when he disagreed with you, he did so respectfully, therefore commanding the same respect from you. <p> This place is overrun with trolls and spammers, but D Vader gets the boot for merely questioning Beaks' arbitrary banning policy?
