* The big news is the final season premiere of “Smallville” hit a better number than any episode of the series aired last season, and improved hugely on the 0.9 scored by its 2009 season premiere. I imagine viewers are returning for the same reason viewers returned to “Lost” after it announced its end-date.
* “Supernatural,” despite the move from Thursdays, improved on its 1.2 2009 season premiere, no doubt helped by “Smallville’s” surge. “Supernatural’s” 5th-season peak was a 1.4.
* CBS’ latest Tom Selleck crime drama, “Blue Bloods,” was Friday’s top show. Its premiere matched “Medium’s” top score in that timeslot last year.
* “CSI NY,” new to Fridays was way way down to a 2.0 from its 4.0 Wednesday 2009 season premiere and lower than the 2.3 nadir it hit last season. It was still Friday night’s second biggest.
* “Medium,” in an earlier timeslot, was way down from its 2.1 2009 season premiere. Its 2009 nadir was a 1.3.
* Critically panned Jimmy Smits drama “Outlaw” collapsed in its regular Friday timeslot, scoring lower than a repeat of “Modern Family.”
* “The Good Guys” arrived on Friday at its all-time low, below the 1.0 scored by the second season premiere of “Dollhouse” last fall and the 1.1 scored by the series premiere of of the sitcom “Brothers” last autumn.
