Check Out This Blog From The Manchester Shoot Of CAPTAIN AMERICA!! Will Live Video Of Filming Be Captured??
Merrick here...
The fine folks over in Manchester have set-up a nice blog to chronicle the filming of Joe Johnston's CAPTAIN AMERICA movie; Manchester is standing in for 1940s Brooklyn for the shoot.
The blog contains quite a few images, a video walk through of the set, and even has a window indicating a "live stream of filming." The stream is 'Off Air' as of this posting, but it might be fun to keep checking back to see what happens there.
The set walkthrough footage can also be seen via the embed below. While the walkthrough is embedded on the Manchester blog, it originated at hobbsy.com.
Click either of the sample images below to see other pics, the vids mentioned above, and more.

Can't wait to see this on-screen - Johnston's visual style oughta make this look pretty sweet.

... I dunno. Looks awfully jingoistic. Thought Johnston was staying away from the 'America's Awesome!' stuff?
-
I have no doubt he will capture the right look and feel for the film.
when are you going to be getting us a picture of the Red Skull though? -
No idea why I've got 'bail' on the mind this morning.
-
Johnston only made one great film and that was The Rocketeer many many moons ago!Since then his movies have been just passable. I will say one thing though, it looks like he's going back to his Rocketeer style in this!
-
Pictures like that existed at the time. Their being in the film isn't an endorsement. It just helps the film establish itself as authentic.
-
Don't let me down Joe.
-
Look at recent projects like HBO's "The Pacific," which was filled with period set dressing and language (dirty Japs, slopes, etc.). Was authentic to the time, but the work as a whole was thoughtful and poignant.
-
OOPS i meant Johnson,JOHNSON.
-
They're actually designed to promote pointless rivalries. Then maybe they could get it all out of their system and we wouldn't have to have every other aspect of internet society become overrun with "us vs. them" bullshit.
-
And GO DC!
-
Seriously? Wow, Manchester is the last place I thought they'd film!
-
New Hampshire or Connecticut? or England?
-
Ooh! Next time I'm in town I'll have a wander up there. Looks like it's somewhere up in the northern quarter. Some of Sherlock Holmes was filmed in about the same place.
-
The new Yellowjacket movie should be amazing!
-
...after those ones we saw last week or something. Man, makes you wanna pop Pyum's in and watch it three times straight.
-
Innit?
-
Give 'Em Hell, Bears!
-
That's what fantasy football is.
-
It's in England. I live just outside of Manchester, NH and the only locations for period shooting they might have are a few old mills, that's it.
-
Scenes are also being filmed in the old dockland area of Liverpool. Pretty much exactly where they filmed a lot of the outdoor shots for Sherlock Holmes.
-
being filmed in Milton Keynes!

Iron Man 2 made over 620 MILLION in it's theatrical release. What the hell are you talking about?
-
You know dude, if your gonna point to a movies box office as how successful it was at least, you know, have a clue.
Iron Man made 318 domestic 266 foreign
Iron Man 2 made 312 (and could still earn more) domestic and 309 overseas or you know more the the first one.
Pretty good performance for a sequel. Lets face it Dark Knight was kinda of a fluke, Batman Begins only made 205 and 167. No one expected that kind of a movie, not fun mind you, but good so it crossed over. I doubt he can deliver it again. (Though I wasn't thrilled with Inception then I saw it so I'm just gonna shut the hell up about Nolan). Anyway as franchises Nolan's Batman leads the box office by only about 100 million. That's less the one studio executive saying "You know I liked the nipples on the Bat Suit" away.
-
Now Captain America too, apparently!
-
And let's be real. Sports won't be enough to help some kid who calls himself the jew hunter. It's kinda sad really.

Back in my day, superhero movies weren't modeled after Batman Be

I'm talking like late 90's, early 2000's.

Dale street to be precise. It's actually not that surprising as the pre-war buildings in that area are very similar to those in parts of NYC. New York scenes for the Alfie remake were also shot there.
-
Not only do I want the 'America's Awesome!' stuff, it will be an epic fail if it does not provide it. This coming from a left of liberal/progressive uber socialist commie.
-
guess who wins.

Jewhunter is so damn offensive, I want to take anyone with that name and beat them to pulp, chop them up and make them fish food. Danny Glover's piss blood or whatever, those names are fine. Jewhunter is not, you asshole. Go watch "Defiance" because if you're going to use that handle, that's what you deserve. it's not funny. Not at all. END of story.

Or at least the Clark Kent stuff was. Reeve was still so funny and charming as Clark...!
-
Simmer down, pops. "Jewhunter" could mean he is a hunter who is Jewish. Big whoop.

talk about whats in front of you. By the way Excelsior Cigars, very funny dr jones

But we need to see some official pics, especially of Cap in costume, and the Red Skull.****Has anyone heard any news on Nolan's third Batman film? I feel that he should use the Riddler and Catwoman as villains, and maybe have the Joker do a cameo bit in Arkham. Joaquin Phoenix would be a worthy Joker, I think (see his performance in GLADIATOR. Quite creepy). Heath Ledger's work was great, but that should not preclude other actors playing the Joker. Also, I think Jude Law would make a great Riddler. Look at his role as the sociopathic killer in THE ROAD TO PERDITION. That character could be a template for a sociopathic Riddler obsessed with puzzles, riddles, crime, etc. As far as Catwoman, there are a lot of good actresses out there who could fill the role: Angelina Jolie, Rachel Weisz, etc. Anybody else have any casting ideas?
-
Catwoman must be SMOKIN' and Cotillard delivers!
-
if the world ever needed an enema, Manchester is where it would go
-
He's too much of a cold fish. Catwoman needs to have some sizzle. Nolan's best with guys obsessed with other guys.
-
I'm a huge Nolan fan, but there's not one ounce of sex in any of his movies, and without sex appeal, what would be the angle on Catwoman? Another postmodern deconstruction, maybe? I don't know if I like the idea of that.

FAN FUCKING TASTIC!

Somebody can't spell for shit.

Then we could see Captain America Vs Captain Mainwaring...

Don't panic! don't panic!

Spent 1 day there - real moody place. Went to a rock pub, thinking it would be the last place any fights would break out. Within 5 minutes there was a riot and people were punching policewomen. Rock.
-
I think he likes dudes as well. I really think he is Bi. Not thast there is anything wrong with that.
-
Manchester may have somethings to answer for, Manchester United being one of them, but at least it's not London.
-
wondering, never been there myself, but why the hate?
-
I walked down that street last month on my way to a comic mart.
-
I'd love to know where this 'rock pub' is you went to. If you go to some chavvy, pound a pint shithole on the high street that calls itself a rockpub then you have yourself to blame. Manchester is a modern cosmopolitan city, arguably only second to parts of London for what's on offer. To begin with there's fantastic music venues, some of the best sports facilities in the country, great arthouse cinema & galleries, and a thriving art & music culture. I suspect those slagging the place off have either never been and base their opinion on what they see on Coronation St or have visited once from middle class suburbia down south and never scratched the surface beyond the High Street and MacDonalds.
-
Agreed. You go to the "wrong" pub or bar in any city and you'll see a fight in minutes.
-
That said, the High Street is a very repetitive place, with duplicate shops within a few hundred yards of one another.... Also, what's with all the Starbucks?! There are more loads within a 5 minute walk of one another!
Love, Sourthern Shandy Drinking light weight
PS. Manchester's a great city, can't understand the hate directed at the place
