Some familiar voices popping up in Tim Burton's stop motion redo of FRANKENWEENIE!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Deadline's Mike Fleming has the scoop on Tim Burton's next animated film, a stop motion feature length version of his super fun short film FRANKENWEENIE, about a boy who resurrects his dog.
Looks like Burton will be joined by many of his regulars, including Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Martin Landau and Martin Short. It makes me sad that Glenn Shadix recently died as I have a feeling there would have been a place for him in this world.
I really dig Burton's short, starring the very '80s kid Barret Oliver as the young man who brings his dog back to life after it get hit by a car and I kind of love Burton tackling stop motion again using that jumping off point. Perhaps it'll be a return to form for the man. The cast sure is.

Now Burton's plundering his own back-catalogue in order to get something "new" out that has previously worked. Not a good sign...

suits will buy him about a decade of good will before he has to reenergize again. 'Alice' was so horrible yet it made a billion dollars because of Depp now he can make an piece of crap that he wants! I used to look forward to Burton's movies...but either I grew up or he didn't.

Burton is getting very close to being dead to me. Big Fish was fantastic, and since then....just shitting in my face over and over again. So this is interesting...so far all his remakes have been dreadful. Will a remake of his own film be just as bad?

Considering that Alice in Wonderland, the piece of shit that it was, made a billion at the box office, I'd like to think that Burton would use that cred to get something original and unique made the way he did with Sweeney Todd which, IMHO, was a GREAT movie and his best since Ed Wood.<br> <br>Burton's peak seemed to be circa Ed Wood and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Mars Attacks was his last real Burtonesque big budget studio film while he's spent the last decade and a half churning out generic studio garbage.<br> <br>I'm hoping that Dark Shadows will be his next project with Depp and that we get a nice Gothic hardcore R-rated vampire flick that shows these faggy Twilight movies how it's done!!!

Did those guys have a falling out or something 'cos they haven't worked together since Batman Returns in 1992! Was it because Burton found a new muse in the form of Johnny Depp? I say get Keaton as one of the Barnabas clan - that's if Burton is still doing Dark Shadows next??????

Dude was HILARIOUS as the voice of Ken in Toy Story 3, and Burton should throw a bone to the guy who starred in the film that was hugely successful enough to give him the creative clout he's weilded for the last 20+ years.

...and make it a dark, stop-motion film with elements of 1950's culture, but twisted in a weird way. He should try working with that Danny Elfman guy - I hear he does good work.

Seriously. He's got a unique style that he slaps on to everything he touches. Why not hire him for projects that need his touch rather than give him full control over the production of a movie? The only actor he can ever get a good performance out of is Depp, and that's just because Depp is that good (except for that goddamned breakdance shit at the end of Alice). Let the guy do what he does best and stop letting him do everything else.
