Anchor Bay picks up the cool little suspense flick A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a bit of news on a movie that's probably under a lot of people's radars. A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE was a Toronto FF selection, a tiny movie about a woman in therapy after finding out that her husband was a serial killer. She turned him in and all the conflicting emotions have taken their toll. The husband escapes from custody and the wife is sure he's coming for her. I have seen the movie and liked it quite a bit. The Signal's AJ Bowen plays the husband and it's the performance I'm wagering will turn some heads and get him bigger jobs. Amy Seimetz plays his wife and indie darling Joe Swanberg plays her new boyfriend. It's not quite a slasher and it's not quite a drama. It's a dirty, but effective suspense thriller. THR says Anchor Bay has picked up English territory rights and plans for a theatrical release, which is great. I love Anchor Bay's tastes with theatrical films, but they' had a helluva time getting any eyes on their releases outside of their niche demographic. Business and blah-blah-blah talk aside, I'm happy they're still pulling for these little films and saving them from a direct to DVD/Cable/Netflix hell.

He was hilarious in The Signal, he was kind of like a demented Ryan Reynolds in it, at least that's how he came off to me.

as for the topic, i've had "The Signal" on my Netflix instant queue for like, the last 10 months. just haven't gotten around to watching it... think I'll try to give it a spin sometime this week. the trailer for "A Horrible Way to Die" does seem a bit intriguing, but I'll be in honest in saying that it doesn't really seem to warrant a theatrical release, based on the little amount I've seen.
