Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. You may remember last week I was throwing around mentions that I was headed to London. The big secret reason isn't so secret anymore. I went to Shepperton and watched Captain America get into a knock-down, drag-out surprisingly brutal fight with The Red Skull.
I saw some really cool stuff, from production art, to footage of the skinny Steve Rogers getting the Super Soldier serum and becoming Cap as well as plenty of shooting with the above-mentioned crazy fight between two of Marvel's most enduring opponents.
I'll have an in-depth report on the visit in a few months, but all I can say is wait until you see the Red Skull make-up. Really great stuff, mostly practical with Hugo Weaving's nose painted black, to be removed in post... the rest is a 3 1/2 hours a day prosthetic appliance job.
Right before walking out the door we were able to pose with the shield... the Shield! So below you get my ugly mug holding a beautiful prop that I almost ran away with, but realistically I don't think I could have gotten it through customs.
So, never fear. Chris Evans didn't get hit with the ugly stick and gain 100 pounds overnight. It's just me.
Apparently I'm now owned by Marvel, so don't be surprised if you hear of a new line of superhero comics about a movie nerd who plays a lot of Halo: Reach in-between sitting at his computer for hours typing. Geekmanchild will be riveting and hit your shelves never, but keep an eye out for it anyway!
