The Last Exorcism's Daniel Stamm to direct the next Night Chronicles spook-em-up REINCARNATION!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Heat Vision is reporting that Daniel Stamm, director of the very successful The Last Exorcism, is a lock for the next installment of The Night Chronicles, M. Night Shyamalan's continuing series of genre flicks which bear his name as producer and all spring from original concepts by the man. This one is called REINCARNATE and is about the jury of a murder trial being haunted by a being that holds the key to the trial. BURIED's Chris Sparling and Paul Grellong are scripting. The Shyamalan groan is well documented as the trailer for the first Night Chronicles flick, Devil, continues to screen. If you're not familiar with the term, it's when that trailer plays and Shyamalan's name comes up ("From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan") inducing groans and/or laughter from the audience. I've seen it. Not just at Comic-Con, but in regular theaters... multiple times. I can't think of a recent example of the standard opening weekend movie-going audience vocally disapproving of a director like this. And consistently. Easily 4 out of 5 have had the groan. While I thought The Last Airbender was an abysmal failure, I still find myself pulling for Shyamalan. The dude brought me two of my favorite genre movies of the last decade(-ish) with The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. But I understand the frustrations and the criticisms. What can I say? I like horror movies, the dude's bringing together interesting young filmmakers and giving them a shot. I can't begrudge him that. I just hope the movies aren't embarrassing. Stamm's a solid director and BURIED was great, so it's a nice team they have for this one. Thoughts? -Quint quint@aintitcool.com Follow Me On Twitter
