Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I've been seeing art from and hearing about this movie for years now and now the trailer is here, debuted by Moviefone. My first impression was that it felt too close to Shrek in the color scheme and time period, but then I stopped being a dumbass. Shrek was riffing on these Disney Princess fairy tales.
Call it nostalgia, but I'm still not sold on Disney pumping out these CG animated movies over traditional cel animation. However I do like the lengths the artists and filmmakers have gone to imbue the footage below with a lot of that traditional Disney animation feeling. From the painterly backgrounds (something they did very well in BOLT as well) to the character designs (especially the horse... that's a Disney horse, no doubt about it) it looks like they're embracing the old while continuing with the new.
