Titan Books & AICN Want To Give You One Of Three Copies Of THE ART OF DREW STRUZAN!!

Merrick here...
...with a super-cool opportunity courtesy of our fine friends at Titan Books.
Today marks the release of their highly anticipated ART OF DREW STRUZAN book, authored by Struzan & David J. Schow. In case you've missed our previous coverage of the title, or have somehow never heard of Mr. Struzan's invaluable contributions to both cinema and Geekdom, you can find our previews of the title (with artwork) HERE and HERE. We have three (3) copies of this fine publication to offer to lucky AICN readers. This is a really, really nice book and if you're reading AICN with any regularity, this is most likely a title you'd enjoy quite a bit. While the book features design evolutions-to-final product of many of the films you'd expect (some STAR WARS movies, INDIANA JONES, HARRY POTTER), what's perhaps most illuminating is the artwork and comps for movies you don't necessarily like, or may not even know Struzan worked on (POLICE ACADEMY 3, HARLEM NIGHTS, an unused WATERWORLD poster). Equally compelling is a generous dose of developmental material...the alternate approaches that lead to the iconic art we now associate with particular films (the BACK TO THE FUTURE and BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, for example). My woman...who isn't really into this kind of Geek minutiae...really enjoyed glancing through THE ART OF DREW STRUZAN, suggesting this book may well transcend "film Geekness" and appeal to broader pop-culture sensibilities. Whether you're deeply mired in film history, or simply like popping in a DVD or Blu-Ray every now and then, chances are very high that you've encountered Mr. Struzan's book somewhere along the line - this book nicely illustrates how, and why, the artwork we now know exists, illuminates the paths that resulted in its creation, while showing us pieces we never realized existed at all. Pretty cool. Sharply presented on 160 pages of heavy paper stock, featuring a Foreword by Frank Darabont, this is an conversation piece, and I'd imagine it would make a fantastic Christmas present for a nerd in your life. Consider giving it a look. So, what do you gotta do to get this? It's simple - but please follow the rules precisely. In the past we've had folks unnecessarily disqualified for deviating from the simple rules laid out below, and we hate to see that happen. ** Sometime between the time you read this and 11:59:59 PM CST USA (i.e. one second before midnight CST USA) on Monday September 20, 2010, send an e-mail to me via the e-mail link below. You can enter twice a day for the contest's duration. ** Include your name and mailing address in this e-mail. The address is to expedite prize shipment only and will be summarily discarded once book recipients are chosen. No spam, no mailing lists, etc. ** CONTEST IS OPEN TO INTERNATIONAL READERS!!! ** Be sure to send from an ACTIVE (and frequently checked) E-MAIL ACCOUNT. If I try to reach you & my message bounces back? I'll trash your win and move on to the next closest winning contestant I can reach. Really not trying to be a jerk here, but I've no time to chase folks down. ** I've already pre-selected ONE time of day, on three particular days, between today(Tuesday September 13, 2010) and Monday September 20, 2010. The person who e-mails me at (or closest to) these times will receive a copy of the book. NOTE: I've been asked this before, so...for clarity...I'm using whatever time is stamped on the Yahoo mailing address established for this contest as the determiner. I'm in Central Time USA, so I guess that's a CST time stamp (?) ** The three recipients will be announced on this site by the middle of next week. ** Titan will have your addresses in hand Wednesday morning (September 22, 2010) & they've been kind enough to handle fulfillment in this contest. Books should be shipped next week. ** As a general FYI, you should know that...due to the number and frequency of entries..recipients in past contests were sometimes determined by matters of seconds. Literally. And that's it!
