First TV spot from Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows hits the net!

Published at:  Sep 10, 2010 3:24:30 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with the first (of many, I'm sure) TV spot for the upcoming first half of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows.

Digging the overall tone from the trailers, poster and now TV spot. Those who read the book know how crazy shit goes down in this one and it looks like the filmmakers are going at it whole hog.

Not that I'd expect them to shy away at this point, but it's good validation.

Enjoy the TV spot embed courtesy of Trailer Addict.

This is where I stop watching the trailers...

    by mr gorilla

Like an idiot I've seen every Deathly Hallows trailer thus far, and I sense that if I carry on watching them I will pretty much know exactly how the film is going to pan out (especially having read the book). Sorry to be dull. By the way, is John Williams returning to do the music for Part 2?

This is in 3D right? Was it shot in 3D or converted like Clash of the Titans?

Christ, is no one else having an absolute nightmare with that fucking Black Lightening ad on the site? Its so bloody intrusive. I opened a few tabs and started watching the trailer then each tab begins to play the same sound bite in tandem.I'll watch the rest of the trailer when Ican be sure that shite has stopped.

    Post-Conversion

    by hopesegooden

These final 2 potters were not filmed with 3D Camera's So yes they are going to be post-conversion. Although they did it for half blood prince in imax and it was effective, and will have more time put in then Clash of the titans, but who knows if itll be any better than other post-conversion's.

Also please get rid of that Black Lightning Ad, it goes off all the time and the music and voiceover on that trailer are horrible!

    by dagotir

Although as he said, they started doing it earlier, hopefully with more time (and a revered property for WB), the result will not be as bad.

Still, it sucks. I will watch it non-3D first, and the IMAX. My ideal viewing would be IMAX without the 3D, but that aint possible.

Potter NOT shot in 3D. Piranha WAS shot in 3D so the headache is even less excusable. 3D is rapidly becoming very unattractive. Oh, and Conspiracy, if you really do have those disgusting thoughts it's very sad.

Quit, you don't "expect them to shy away"? Seriously?

    by d.vader

Of we should expect them to shy away at this point! They've "shied away" from the battles in the past two movies. Their track record is NOT a good one thus far in that respect. They seem to back away from challenges far more than they step up to the plate.

Even if one doesn't like Potter, it has pulled off an incredible feat. 7 well-written, no cop-out books, and a movie series that has, so far, been at the very least, well-made. Last I heard Williams is very interested in scoring the last. Please? PLEASE! Oh fuck it, let's make it "Magic" with on more, pleeeeeeaaaassse.

I thought the 3D looked good at the beginning of Half Blood Prince, so I imagine they will do a good job with the 3D in Deathly Hallows as well. I, for one, am a supporter of 3D as long as it is used properly, in a non-gimmicky manner. I wish they hadn't kept using David Yates for these last movies though. He's my least favorite of the Harry Potter directors since Chris Columbus. Hopefully since he has two movies for the last book he won't gut a bunch of interesting parts from the story and add in random nonsense for no apparent reason. Although he already didn't introduce key plot points into his previous films that were supposed to have carried over into Deathly Hallows. What's he going to do about the wedding scene? Also Harry should have longer and messier hair.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone review

    by the_choppah

Watched that again recently. The first hour is still really good. But I had forgotten how much it descends into a big-budget A-Team episode by the end...rather dull extended shootouts with clunky editing. I guess that marked the moment where Sigourney Weaver's destiny lay in movies that were more about action than comedy, for much of the next decade.
I was so hopeful when Alice in Wonderland came out that it heralded the return of both Rickman and Depp as genuinely action people. But it was a false dawn for both.

3D wizard battle in Order of the Pheonix

    by excelciyour

was beyond superlative. I can't even put into words how amazing it looked. The scene was only 5 minutes but I saw it on IMAX and it still looked tremendous. That was pre-Avatar in terms of release date. My point? The astonishing 3D was the result of post-production conversion but they did it right (somehow) so I have little worry about this. It will be kick ass.
