The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day takes Purple in the morning, Blue in the afternoon and Orange in the evening!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes pic!
Apologies for the tardiness of today’s image. I began my day in London and have spent the entire day internetless as I traveled back home to Austin.
It took considerable will-power to not just make the headline “Ass to Ass,” but I’m a classier guy than I apparently want to be, so I went with another quote from Darren Aronofsky’s REQUIEM FOR A DREAM.
I’m quite a fan of this film, even if it’s one of those movies that you can’t just put on no matter what mood you’re in. I have to be in the right mindset to watch this flick.
I recently received this shot of Jennifer Connelly from a reader named Kris Gaitan that I thought was particularly cool. Connelly is strapped into a SnorriCam… you know this kind of shot, Guy Ritchie uses it a lot, where the person is perfectly centered and doesn’t seem to move, but the world around them does.
It’s a beautiful pic of a beautiful woman wearing some crazy filmmaking gear! Here it is (click for the bigger version)! Enjoy!:

If you have a pic you think should be included email me. I’m looking for the iconic, the rare or the just plain cool behind the scenes shots to feature here.
Tomorrow’s Behind the Scenes will have fun stormin’ the castle! See you then!

... that's two in a row. I need to get my ass to bed.
-
Robin Hood?
-
... after this film came out... nearly everyone was using this hip-cam thing, making it boring real quick. Now, at least, we can look back on this and enjoy the surrealism without MTV getting in the way.
-
...I'm going to go be sad for a few hours.
-
... and is demanding more ass to ass.

This is the movie that RUINED Jennifer Connelly's 90's body
by nasty in the pasty
Booooooooooo.
-
... that did a parody of this? Man, that was awesome. Bring that shit back, Adult Swim.
-

And the "Snorri-cam" thing was used by John Frankenheimer...
by nasty in the pasty
...as far back as 1966's Seconds (a great thriller).
-
Never seen that before.
-
would have had something to do with ass to ass. Just saying.
-
would have had something to do with ass to ass. Just saying.
-
but I would have to say that this movie is wildly overrated. I would call Aronofsky overrated if he hadn't done The Wrestler, but he did redeem himself with that one. Requiem, on the other hand, is a 2 star out of 4 movie at best. But ass to ass is 4 stars. No doubt about that.
-
...the rig for that would be smaller in size, yet I was wrong. Jennifer is using it well considering she pulled off an increasingly lifeless look while wearing that.
-
because it really is a complete cliche, but...........ASS TO ASS!!! ASS TO ASS!! ASS TO ASS!!!
-
Unrated version is the only version to watch..more ass to ass mmmmm
-
"Soon, millions of people will see me and they'll all like me. I'll tell them about you, and your father, how good he was to us. Remember? It's a reason to get up in the morning. It's a reason to lose weight, to fit in the red dress. It's a reason to smile. It makes tomorrow all right."
-
best part of the dvd
-
I too feel that this film helped spell the end of Jennifer Connelly's juicy body and gave way to the skinny Connelly. Is Career Opportunities out on DVD?
-
And I prefer Harvey's drunken stumbling-cam in MEAN STREETS.
-
loveit
-
I know people under 20 seem to like it. It had too many muppets for me.
-
IT's kind of a surreal shot. Looks like something out of a 90's-period Jeunet movie.
-
was ass-to-ass. Is that a good or a bad thing?
-
it was indeed a travesty.
-
Ass to Ass
-
the other franchise still left
-
... the only thing they took away from Requiem is "ass to ass". Fucking pathetic. You fuckheads don't deserve a movie this good...

-
I can't help but laugh at this movie, it's so over the top.
-
... may I bask in your glory?
-
I think the was the point of the movie. It's relentless about the message with a sledge-hammer. Drugs are bad, and people who use them lead sad lives. Ass to ass deserves it's own academy award category.
-
Jennifer's "juicy body" was lost when Miss Connolly decided to have a major breast reduction. I can understand why women, especially actresses, do it - but do they have to be so drastic about it? Leave something to grab onto.

How can ANYONE find the "ass-to-ass" scene arousing?!
by nasty in the pasty
It's just about the LEAST-erotic sex scene in movie history. I know it's Connelly, but I found the scene to be nightmarishly degrading. It's like jerking off to the rape scene in Rob Roy.
-
As sad as it is to consider, her career DID take an upswing after she had her magnificent breasts taken out...she won an Oscar almost immediately afterwards, and is now a "name" actress who's known by more than just sweaty nerds who jerked off to her horsey-riding scene in Career Opportunities a billion times in 1991. It's kind of insulting, however, just like how many beautiful actresses have to wilfully "ugly themselves up" to win critical acclaim and Oscar gold. Would Connelly have won that Oscar for A Beautiful Mind if she still had those ginormous sweater puppies? Like an actresses can't deliver a good performance AND be physically attractive at the same time?
-
Women in Hollywood have to look like arms and legs attached to a two by four in order to get recognition. It's sad but true.
-
The look on Keith Davids face in that scene is hilarious. Probably not meant to be funny though..
-
I think no doubt, especially since its been sampled so much. I believe I've heard it in commercials. I know I've heard it in a lot of other trailers, "The Two Towers" the only one coming to mind right now.
-
Her in that white dress in The Rocketeer. Oh, and in black lingerie in Some Girls.
-
Need a director's cut of THe Hot Spot.
-
They are somewhere where Ricci's are. Fucking shame.I remember being pissed at Blockbuster for censoring the "needle-in-wound" scene. When I finally saw it, I felt sick.
-
Not great, not horrible. Seems like Aronofsky & co were laboring for some huge profound statement, and what they came up with was "drugs are bad." Some visual flair, and good performances, but very well-trod thematic ground, and characters who were all pathetic / intensely unlikeable. Interesting viewing it once, but I've never gone back to it.
-
How about DARREN ARONOFSKY USES IT A LOT.
-
For episodes of LOST. Maybe I Am Legend too? Oh no wait, that used music from Clint Mansell's score for Aronofsky's "The Fountatin".
-
I'm just saying: the actor has to ignore that apparatus rotating them like a big whirring moon. That takes some concentration for sure.
Oh yeah, and also: Ass to Ass! -
,,,,it actually blow my fucking mind like few movies did before. I grew up in NJ so there were never small releases and I found this at a borders books store and purchased it.
Even though the film ruined my day it was an extremely powerful experience. Even though the cam equipment feature in the pic isn't created by Aronofsky and crew like he said. It was featured in a ton of movies, Mean Streets, 60 seconds, evil dead and many more. I think blood simple as well but I"m not positive.
And is the fountain coming to criterion collection -
addicts think they are having a great time. They're slippery people and they always think they're getting one over on everyone. I find this movie to be way far away from the reality of addicts... it almost feels like what a non-addict thinks of addiction, like a projection rather than the reality, which is sad, sometimes funny (they're usually pretty creative people) and often quite boring. If you've ever seen The Panic in Needle Park with Al Pacino, I think that movie is way, way, way more realistic in terms of the everyday life of an addict. Especially when they're sitting in that restaurant, shooting the shit, eating french fries while waiting for the next batch of heroin to hit the streets. If you've never been to a rehab clinic than you've never seen the truest bullshitters you'll ever want to meet... addicts also make EVERYTHING about themselves, thus the need to dull the pain or the constant 'me, me, me, oh it hurts'... to the point where you want to be like, "oh, fuck off..." Usually, the people around them are getting hurt ten times worse than the actual addict. And then the way a lot of them can become just as addicted to Jesus or being healthy... it's just an unhealthy amount of devotion to anything so they're driven to the point of constant distraction. To me, there's a lot more subtlety, humor, and just plain bullshit when it comes to depicting addiction and this movie captures just about none of it with its sledgehammer filmmaking... life can be fucking funny, even when it's horrible, and that's something I don't think Aronofsky truly understands or reflects in his films.
-
It's just the part that's the most fun to bring up in talkbacks!
Heh heh heh... -
I'm not supposed to be jerking off to the rape scene in Rob Roy?
-
She's lost tonnes of weight in the last decade, and boobs are mostly made of fat cells. So there's hope that they might return one day...
-
being very excited about this film. I thought Pi was very interesting and I was excited to see more from such a talented guy. However, I can't quite put my finger on it, but for some reason I really disliked this film. The editing felt as if it was "showing off" to me among other problems I had.
SK229's comment above comes closest to my reservations about this film. Funny enough, I like everything else Aronofsky has done. I just didn't "get" this one.
-
She's a great actress, but I'm not as interested in her without those mighty mammaries. *sigh* Ass to ass... Yes, great film. Disturbing and hard to watch, but brilliant.
-
...so the SnorriCam would fit on her now-emaciated chest.
-
That was a lame reply.
-
I'll watch Requiem for a Dream and The Shining back to back. When I'm in a fucked up mood that is...
