A Pair of Pics From DUNGEONS & DRAGONS

Published at:  Nov 04, 1999 1:50:48 PM CST

Hey folks, Harvey... that invisible furry fella, sent in the following pics from the set of DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS. Harvey told me in private whilst having a martini or two down at the sanatarium with Dr Chumley, and Harvey said to me... Isn't that a nice phrase? Harvey said to me, "Harry," for that's how he referred to me, "Harry, I have always been fond of you, so be at ease, for I will cover this film with you." And isn't that nice? I thought so.... Here's his report...

Here's the deal on these two shots...

The first, and best IMHO, is an on-set shot of Thora Birch as the young Empress in full gold dragon regalia. I think she is going to war soon,
yes? I think you'll agree she is looking mighty fine.

The second is an interesting one. It looks like an FX shot from the film, but it isn't. This is just an on-set sneak shot, totally in-camera. This
still, like the one above, isn't from the actual film, but just a 35mm shot from the principle photography shoot in Prague. That's Jeremy Irons
(Profion) giving something the evil magical what-for in the foreground. The contraption he is controlling in the background is unknown...

    female costumes...

    by glaze

All my life, 30 years so far, fantasy art has portrayed female warriors with "3 strategically placed coins" and it was good. Movies such as Beastmaster and Conan kept the faith and clad the women scantily ... and it was good. Now comes the definitive D & D movie and we will forced to view women wearing practical armor that would actually protect them in a fight. This movie is being controlled by blasphemers and heretics. I say someone should take control immediately and restore the women to the clothing (or lack thereof) that we know and love. All they need to do is provide Thora Birch's character with a +5 Bracer of Protection and she won't need all that cumbersome metal surrounding her. What's this world coming to? The next thing you know, they'll have Americans playing key roles in the Lord of the Rings. ;-)
