but overall this season has been pretty strong. Certainly helps remove the bad taste that the movies left... now they just need to decide whether Fry and Leela are in a relationship or not and stick with it. I'm fine with a will they or won't they scenario but the are they or aren't they thing is a real slap in the face for anyone they cared about the relationship that had built up over the first four years of the show.
-
I think that's the clearest sign that Hogan, Flair, Nash, Jarrett & Bischoff have finally lost their powers to draw. On subject, hurrah for Futurama & may next year bring a 24 episode season of equal hilariousness
-
Their relationship was in trouble. It seems like they're more the occasional fuck buddies for now.
-
the only one of this new season i didn't love was the brain swapping episode, but so far futurama has been on of my favourite shows of 2010

Watch Futurama so we don't have to save it again.

How can you NOT love the brain-swapping episode?!
by Nasty In The Pasty
That was comic GOLD.
-
How many other shows present the audience with a logic problem to figure out while they watch?
-
(which they weren't) the season would have been worth it just for 'The Late Philip J Fry' and that wonderful 2525 parody.
-
was Proposition Infinity.
-
Which is a GOOD thing. :)
-
but I don't think I found any of them to be failures this season. I agree that the writers have their mojo back after the films. I enjoyed the films, but they paled in comparison to other seasons. There were too many restrictions on the writers. They had to made four individual episodes that some how worked into a ninety minute film. It's hard to worry about that structure and still make something funny and entertaining.
-
The start was good but I didn't like the first few after that so much; in fact, the singing butt-boil almost felt like they had finally crossed into the Simpsons latter-days territory of pushing comedy at the expense of the characters too far. It was a cheap and unattractive dig at poor Leela which (although you never know with Futarama) will hopefully never come up again, though that also makes it all the more stupid.Luckily it has been better the last few, although I'm not sure why Ami didn't complain when Kiff's leg got eaten in a recent ep?! She was there?! Ho hum, minor point. Let's hope they make more. Ramble over.

People have overly nostalgic views of earlier seasons
by ThrowMeTheIdol
While there have been a few so-so episodes this season and one obvious clunker (they should stay away from political preaching), the great has outweighed the meh and overall the season is as good or better than any that came before.
-
I agree though about the Susan Boyle joke (though I didn't take it as a shot at leela, just as a lame attempt at doing a topical gag). It was so bad that it made me think they were going to flounder this season. Never been so glad to be proven wrong.
-
But I've enjoyed most of the others. I especially liked "The Late Philip J. Fry", "The Duh-Vinci Code" and the "Prisoner of Benda". Great eps. Yeah, and I've said it before but I agree that Fry and Leela's relationship needs to be better handled. I mean, one moment he's angsting over her and the next she's kidnapped and he's more or less meh about it. Same deal with Kif's leg getting pulled off and Amy also being meh. WTF? Those lapses in characterization are things I'd expect from a lesser show, like Fairly Oddparents or something (low blow, I know, but it's the best example, what can I say?) Anyhoo I'll be watching tonight. That was a great clip. (whisper) *bam*!
-
... Burn Notice on this site? Consistently good ratings, Bruce 'The Man' Campbell, very entertaining series. Futurama is a class by itself, but praise for Burn Notice is overdue.
-
I agree with the inconsistency in the relationship. In one episode they appear to be more of a couple and in the next, they don't appear to care about each other.
-
Are you saying that Futurama in general is your favorite half-hour of 2010, or that tonight's episode, specifically, is your favorite half-hour of 2010?
-
is because it hasn't been in repeats yet. Futurama, like a great wine, only gets better with age. I don't know what it is, but even the best episodes are even better on repeat viewing. Some gags that were only mildly funny at first, become hilarious latter on.
Also, I agree about Burn Notice. Very solidly put together show. Whenever I watch Burn Notice I wonder why network television seem incapable of making something this good. After all, it hits all the requirements. You are capable of watching the episodes out of order (the season long story arcs can be ignored if you want), which makes it easy to syndicate, and it is generally family friendly. It's the kind of show I would love to watch as a kid. But network television is content with shoving out five more lawyer/medical/cop show.
-
They work here in the Slurm factory. Farnsworth: Tell them I hate them!
-
has anyone else clicked this and seen what they are charging for it? The discounted price is 70-fucking-dollars! The original price is $100. I hope no one buys it. Apparently the same people who priced Northern Exposure priced this set. I could see asking $40 or maybe even $50 for retail, but $100 for 19 episodes and some special features is disrespectful of the fan base.
-
...is that Fry and Leela's relationship hasn't been solidified. After all the years of waiting to see them finally get together, it seems that their relationship consists of being hopelessly in love one minute and then not giving a shit the next. JUST LET THEM BE A COUPLE!!
-
Here's another favorite from the same one: Fry: "When are we going to get to <something like drink Slurm>?" Slug-Guy: "Soon enough." Fry: "That's not soon enough."
-
Best line of the season so far, IMHO.
-
"These are adult stem cells harvested from perfectly healthy adults, whom I killed for their stem cells."

"see, and you said eating those rocks was a stupid idea"
by BEYONDTHUNDERDOME2GIRLS1CUPBILLCOSBY
leonardo davinci and the time machine episodes were the best but the whole season made my year, that and clone wars.
-
And she knows it.
-
Hardly a tease, just a slut.
A wonderful, wonderful slut.
-
Best line of the season for me.
-
parody (yes, an easy target, I know), then found in whole episodes of other comedies. Futurama IS back baby!
-
can Futurama be dated? I think this season will be the most dated one yet....
-
but I loved it. Not for the topical content, but because the background gags came so fast and furious that I couldn't stop laughing.

And because "Back when I was full of piss and vinegar, and by bed wasn't..." is my favorite line of the whole season.
-
The scenes of the conversion camp were hilarious.
-
100 episodes and people are still watching.
-
And my answer is, 'no, you may not fuck me in the ass'.
-
Is the very best of the "misfit genius" genre so popular now. All the "good" shows recently have featured the Misfit Genius as the lead. This show is like "monk" with C4.
-
had me laughing very loudly for a good solid minute. Then he curls up on his cot and whimpers.... AWESOME.
-
I See BM missile.
-
Okay, I would have got on better with that if I had known who Susan Boyle was. No, I don't live under a rock, just in Japan. Hating YouTube also helps keep my awareness of Western pop culture firmly in the dark; doesn't really help when watching Futurama, though. Jokes about Japanese toliets, now *those* I can understand.
-
"Are all your workers children? Not the whippers."
-
The only ep I have not liked was the Lrrr one, and even it had laughs in it.
-
Susan Boyle became popular on A BRITISH TV SHOW. Not an American one. Before you slam "Western culture" get your facts straight, asshole.
-
so its you who should take your facts straight.
-
Western Europe is part of Western culture.
-
I guess you need to look at a map. There are all sorts of avenues of attack here; school systems, general ignorance, offense at your attempt to remove the UK from its universally (okay, universally minus one) recognized position in the world, etc. etc. But you've done enough already. Just you having typed that is enough. I'm touched you thought my quite understated comment was a "slam" though.
-
Nah, the Lrrrr ep was awesome.
-
Linguo....because of you I just got that joke. Holy shit, that is funny. This is what makes futurerama better than good. Look at all the quotes on this page. An average Futurama episode is better than a good episode of almost anything else. Sweet Zombie Jesus, I am glad Futurama is back. Great season.
-
Yeah, some were definitely weaker... the "Susan Boil" one was among the worst, although the opening recycling stuff was gold and the two headed goat was funny, so even there it's tough to complain.

This latest episode highlights the one inconsistency that bothers me more than the relationship status... Fry's intelligence. He goes from complete moron who can't keep Lela's secret to actually clever guy solving mysteries and leading the mutants. I usually enjoy "average intelligence" Fry more than "total moron" Fry... It's rare to see both in the same episode though.
-
Susan Boyle was Born in the UK, and he was singing a song from a musical about the French Revolution. SO WESTERN!!!
-
If you actually read some you might not come off like the total fucking idiot you so obviously are. http://tinyurl.com/mlgk8
-
Hey asshole, go fuck yourself!
-
to prove my point. All too easy.
-
No date tonight?
-
Project much?
-
...I have seen some dumb fucking people on this board, but I dare say that RPLocke takes the cake. When we say"Western Culture" does he think we mean it as in "Country &...?"
-
Once again.
-
Once again.
-
Asshole, it's pointless to argue anything on this site because it's all personal attacks. Notice how you're the only one who gives a shit?
-
There's nothing to argue about. You are always wrong. Me pointing that out does not mean I give a shit. It's just funny to me and pretty much everybody else on this site how in denial you are. Deal with it.
-
Yeah, you're just a fucking internet stalker.
-
I'd hardly call it stalking when it's you who have infested every single TB with your inanities. No one can avoid you unfortunately. Just change your handle again if you're feeling stupid for outing yourself.
-
Is 36 episodes plus a pilot. You were probably confused by the listing of 19 commentaries.
-
Not sure what you were trying to say in your response. I was merely pointing out taht you were incorrect when you said SuBo wasn't part of Western Culture because she was a British celebrity.
