AICN Austin CATFISH Ticket Winners Announced!
Hey folks, Harry here - with the first of the 3 sets of winners for the screening this week done in conjunction with the ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE on South Lamar.
This is for the screening of CATFISH this Tuesday, 7:30pm at the Alamo Drafthouse South... I am overbooking this, so get to the theater early to get your seat. I've had to go to this route due to people winning and not showing up. So we'll be going this route for the near future. And we're having as guests, Nev Schulman, Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost for a Q&A after the film, and I hear this is a film you'll definitely will want to discuss, so I'm excited about this.

This film is being sold to the public as a documentary film and it is not. The filmakers would have you believe that they had no idea what was going on during filming and it is apparent while watching it they knew exactly what they were doing. In the end they exploited and humliated a sad lonely individual and are now lying to audiences for their own gain. These filmakers are opportunistic jerks and the film should not be supported as long as they continue to sell it as something its not.

I can't wait to read the ligitimate questions that come from the audience about this 'TRUE' movie. Yeah, maybe pretentious latte drinkers in Sundance can't smell a fake but I bet a few loyal AICN fans can put these boys through the ringer. Best question to ask: Why would you ambush the woman you love in the middle of the night on her farm without pre-warning her you are coming? Does that tactic typically work with women? Ass clowns deserving cumenpence. Cumenpence served bitches.

from this. had a 101 degree fever but really wanted to see this movie so i took some dayquil and didn't bitch. it was pretty good, so i didn't regret going. i was hoping for more of a thriller though, like the trailer makes it out to be.

I watched the trailer and got into the hype of "The less you know, the better" and well FAIL on my end. The trailer looked pretty interesting, as if it were going to turn in a direction you wouldn't expect. Instead, it didn't twist or turn at all and I found myself creating a much more interesting movie in my head wrapped around the ideas the trailer lead me to believe. I don't blame the filmmakers for the marketing at all, though I do think they knew what they were getting into and absolutely exploited the shit out of that woman. During the Q and A, all I wanted to ask was if she was getting a fat check from Rogue/Relativity/Universal/the filmmakers themselves since the entire film is based on her and her intellectual property... Doubtful.
It's by no means a bad movie, there's just not much to it. Disappointing due only to how it was marketed. I felt duped during the credits. -
