“Friday Night Lights” made my list of the seven best hourlongs of 2009. Hot new girls from the bad side of town were brought in to replace college-bound Tyra and Lyla. Williams, Riggins and Saracen sought lives beyond the Panthers. Eric and Tami (again) went to work for different schools. Julie went to a gay bar and began to suspect Jesus is a lie. This show rules. Buy this set.

The long-awaited Rocky & Bullwinkle fourth season set contains all 19 episodes, including the voices of Edward Everett Horton, Hans Conried, June Foray and Bill Scott, Fractured Fairy Tales, Aesop & Son, Peabody and Sherman and Dudley Do-Right. The Wayback Machine reveals season three came out in 2005. Why do you wait to order?

Daniel Cerrone, who wrote most of the key episodes of the first three seasons of “Dexter,” quit at the end of season three to go to work for “Dirty Sexy Money.” The fourth season of “Dexter” became its most-watched ever. “Dexter” is such a beloved and sturdy franchise it may not matter who writes it. (Which is a good thing. Season four was the last for Clyde Phillips, the "Suddenly Susan" creator who served as showrunner for the first four seasons.)

Wolverine and the X-Men Vol. 6 concludes the series. It’s a strong series but you’ll get a much better deal if you wait till Oct. 12, when the complete-series set is issued.

A sitcom co-created by two former Floridians -- longtime AICN contributor Kevin “John Robie” Biegel and “Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence -- “Cougar Town” looks at a hot and horny middle-aged Florida realtor and divorcee (Courteney Cox) who decides to start scoping out male locals aged a decade or more her junior. The supporting cast includes Lawrence’s hot wife Christa Miller and the fabulous Busy Phillips, who played Kim Kelly a decade ago on “Freaks and Geeks.” Cox’s TV son is played by Dan Byrd, who was great as the star of The CW’s “Aliens in America.” Some of the critics decry “Cougar’s” vulgarity, and apparently there are still people out there who think vulgar is always a bad thing. Biegel’s resume includes a stint on “South Park,” where a penis once warbled a ballad and Oprah Winfrey’s vagina once brandished a handgun. (And that’s just basic cable; never mind what we see every week on “Weeds” and “Entourage.”) Some adults, perhaps the ones who have never subscribed to DirecTV, may be scandalized. I’m guessing most won’t bat an eye. It’s Herculean policy not to personally appraise the work of my fellow AICN contributors, but I will point out that my friend Biegel’s work is garnering more than a few strong notices.
