Back in June, we previewed Titan's new ART OF DREW STRUZAN book (available for pre-order HERE). In the coming weeks we hope to bring you further glimpses into that title, as well as host a giveaway of this extremely Geek friendly publication - so stay tuned. There's also a documentary in the wind about Mr. Struzan - not directly related to the book mentioned above, but clearly touching on the very same subjects and material. A trailer for the film has now gone on line, via STARWARS.COM. The preview alone features comments from Del Toro, Greg Hildebrandt, producer Michael E. Uslan, Leonard Maltin, Thomas "Vegan Cop" Jane, Spielberg, Darabont, Harrison Ford, Lucas, and even Steve Guttenberg - I can't wait to see how the whole project unfolds. Even if you don't know Struzan by name, if you've any love of films at all you'll almost certainly recognize his work. And, to folks like me, his contribution to the filmgoing/"Geek" experience is invaluable and unforgettable - I'm delighted to see his impact and legacy receiving so much appreciation. Apparently DREW: THE MAN BEHIND THE POSTER is still seeking distribution and I deeply hope that it finds its way instead of turning into THE SHARK IS STILL WORKING, an evidently fascinating documentary about the making of JAWS that isn't in wide distribution at the moment (come one, someone...make that happen for these guys!). It recently screened twice in Austin and I was unable to attend either screening - much to my very deep dismay. Really wanted to see that. More on the Struzan projects soon.
