You seen the trailer for THE NEXT THREE DAYS with Russell Crowe & the fabulous Elizabeth Banks?
Hey folks, Harry here - and this looks very interesting. I like it when we begin getting the trailers for the more contemplative films that begin getting released in the Fall. This time it is a film entitled THE NEXT THREE DAYS - which apparently stars Elizabeth Banks who seems to be arrested for murder. And seriously, when you look at Elizabeth Banks, the first thing that pops into your mind is... RUN! Cuz you know she's gonna stab you. Beat your head in with a brick, shove a mop handle down your throat to choke upon... seriously - don't you want to see the movie to just hear how the cops think she killed someone? Now, she plays a character that is married to Russell Crowe - and my immediate thought is that Crowe is the killer - because we all know he likes to kill before breakfast. But he seems to be playing the proactive husband that's gonna break the wife out of jail... which should be a very entertaining trick to try and pull. To break in and break out with your wife. And escape? This is all coming to us from Director/Writer Paul Haggis, you know... the guy behind WALKER, TEXAS RANGER.... and a few flicks you might have heard of like CRASH & IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH - but mainly we know his screenwriting work upon Eastwood's MILLION DOLLAR BABY, FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA - and the two Daniel Craig BOND flicks, CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLANCE. So - we have reason to hope that this'll be something to focus on, right? Click Here To Help Free Elizabeth Banks! Don't keep her locked up!

Not exactly the type of 'Women behind bars' film that I'd like t
by Aaron Synn
And R. Crowe annoys me... But I'll see it for my girl Liz...
-
Fabulous Elizabeth Banks?
-
You're not bloody kidding! One giant spoiler (apart from no Brian Dennehy who's billed at the end).
-
He seemed really cool, to be honest. I was working as an extra just for fun one day, it filmed near my place in Pittsburgh (trailer has so many beautiful shots of the Burgh, its great, didnt expect that) and we were in a classroom. Can't really think of anything specific, he was really good though. Even just walking into a room to give a fairly ho-hum speech to a group of students about Don Quixote or something, can't remember exactly, but he had fire. He really sold it. Saw Haggis, but he was, obviously, quite busy.
So that's my boring on-set story, if anyone cares. Just wanted to say he seemed like a really affable guy, funny.

And Yea, McClanes Vest, I Wanted to Tell Him To Do Another M&C
by Crow3711
But I didn't think it would be prudent. Also wanted to tell him how beautiful his work in Cinderella Man was, probably my favorite performance of his.
-
I'm not gonna watch the trailer, since it was stated that it showed the whole movie.

Y'all can keep Scott Pilgrim, now THIS looks good.
by The_Genteel_Gentile
This just shot toward the upper echelons of my most anticipated list for this year. Looks like a crackling good yarn. Fingers crossed.

Remeber the last contemplative movie you saw Harry?
by Harry_Knowles_Fell_Asleep_During_Inception
I was called INCEPTION and you fucking fell asleep during it.
-
Should be interesting.
-
fans...as reported on cnn website. this truly is the end of days. a sign of the rapture...
-
Crash is the absolute WORST movie to ever steal/buy/win the Oscar. just unbelievable. a bunch of rich, white hollywood scientologists patting themselves on the back for solving racism. just unbelievable. ever script he writes is an overwrought, manipulative piece of trash.
-
People are not going to root for a guy shooting at prison guards and cops. Unless of course the guards and cops are evil or something but there was no indication of that in the trailer.
-
Nuff said.
-
be a (boring) harrison ford film.....and yeah way to show us the whole plot, seriously who makes these fucking things.
-
I guess you are really feeling the heat of your inception review and want your poor excuse of a review to get out of the main page pronto, because i don't remember the last time you posted on a sunday, at this time I would've guessed that you were knees deep in sweet butter...
-
I'm getting a ton of emails from folks that feel the same way about INCEPTION. I don't feel one iota of pressure. I usually post on the weekends when the other editors are taking a break.
-
Nobody is saying that your opinion is wrong, nobody is, what we're saying is that after one month you just post that piece of shit article that is only a few paragraphs long, i guess you don't have a lot to say about that movie except that is technically well made and bored the shit out of you, good job for a guy who calls himself headgeek i guess...
-
Ah, OK.

ThrowMeTheIdol - "Unless of course the guards and cops are evil"
by The_Genteel_Gentile
Are you aware of them coming any other way?
A pack of sadist cowards without the heart be own up and be legit criminals, so instead hide behind little tin badges.
Sorry but they've brought that reputation upon themeselves.
N.W.A. already said it quite eloquently I think.
-
This movie looks ok

Did those ton of folks stay awake for the whole thing Harry?

to a bloody pulp.
-
really? Hate to be the grammar police today, but come on! in the headline?
-
to much fap fap fap fap fap
-
And I'm pretty picky.
-
Because I just saw the whole movie.
-
... but this looks awfully generic. Not to mention (as others have pointed out already) it shows too much in the trailer). The scenes outside of prison, with Crowe and Banks proves that they make it out successfully from Prison, so there goes any tension for that section ... actually as I write this I'm getting flashbacks of that really bad Crowe-protecting-Meg-Ryan-generic-action-thriller film. Crowe should really avoid these modern day films and stick with his historical epics. Or maybe try out a epic Sci-fi film with Sir Ridley?
-
I was an extra on this movie while it was filming in Pittsburgh... Very excited to see how it turns out.
-
The 3 minute trailer pretty much showed the entire film.

I liked Elizbeth Banks when she was Parker Posey.
by TheBikeShopOwnerFromDifferentStrokes
Elizabeth Banks is terrible.
-
Saw it at a free screening, loved it. One of the few I'll pay to see a second time Only problem is the random Liam Neeson scene.
-
"HEY PARKER!!! THIS ONE'S FOR YOU!!" SID 8.0 iz the shiznit!
-
Nice work mentioning this is a remake of the French film "Pour Elle" which was awesome and this looks shit.
-
interesting had it been more serious instead of ridiculous, over-the-top and unbelievable.
-
When it's some hackneyed Oriental "horror" trope with the juddery cameras and obligatory long-haired women, then everyone is up in arms. But here we are a mere two years after 2008's Pour Elle and no-one is saying anything.
-
So it's a remake of the French film 'Pour Elle' then ?
-
Come on now...let's have a list of the worst accents in movie History. Brad Pitt in Snatch? Tommy Lee Jones in Blown Away? Neeson in the A Team? Jason Statham in almost anything??? Surely there's a thousand other contenders?
-
How Haggis has got the balls to let put up on screen "By Paul Haggis".. the original is just su-fucking-perb with Diane Kruger pissing all over Banks Vincent London as the lead is phenomenal as well. Please rent it and see how real drama is made and not re-hashed shot for shot. Trust me, watch the original, then the trailer and there are identical shots there..

Banks || McAdams=Dermot Mulroney || Dylan McDermott
by The McPoyle Clan
I always get the two confused. Then I remember that Banks is the one with a sense of humor, and McAdams is the uptight one.
-
the family is still alive, and he needs help. I was cheering for Gerhard in that movie. Sometimes the bad guys are the good guys.
-
Whoa, imagine that. And then Crowe, as himself, runs around trying to spring her while having to avoid the authorities and the paparazzi.
-
Russell Crowe tries to pull of a Prison Break to rescue his wife who looks like his daughter. The trailer shows us he succeeds. So the real question would be -- is she guilty or innocent? My guess is Elizabeth Banks turns out to be a raving psychotic serial rapist killer who Xenia Onatopps her husband at the end.
-
I feel like I've seen this movie... many times. Usually starring someone like Denzel - or as someone else said, Harrison Ford.
-
a Russell Crowe Movie seriously..??
-
Great cast but movie premise is more crapola.
-
So did they buy the US rights to this so they could remake it instead of releasing it over here? Netflix doesn't have it for rental and it's $62.95 New on Amazon. Was it ever shown in theaters in America?
-
Just putting that lame fucking title on the board because I didn't see it 100 times on this site when I logged on. Seriously, though: how great is it going to be! When is coming out!
-
And a kinda weird lens flare too, all vibratey like the camera's supposedly being buffetted by the wind.

I liked this movie. I like it better the first time I saw it...
by Royston Lodge
...when it was called Presumed Innocent.
-
...where to get good fake passports? Knows how to find somneone who escaped from prison the cops can't find? Sure he does. The Impossible Missions team did this routinely, but they were especially trained for this sort of thing.
-
I really like Neeson, but I must admit various accents are not his strong suit. I mean he does some others okay, but he generally always sounds Irish, through any accent.
-
His turn in Romper Stomper was excellent.
-
and could make for a decent American rehash so most English-speakers don't have to worry their reality-TV-loving brains (generous use of the word i know) with subtitles. That said i like the look of this remake and see no reason why it can't stand alongside so many of the other totally unnecessary but perectly passable English-language remakes of foreign-language films. I love that Harry didn't appear to know it was a remake though. He is running a film website right? I guess not being made by Edgar Wright or Eli Roth, or one of his mates he hasn't bothered to find out anything about it.
