Bryan Fuller, the “Star Trek” vet who went on to create “Dead Like Me,” “Wonderfalls” and “Pushing Daisies,” has just signed with Syfy to adapt (alongside fellow “Daisies” writer Jim Grey) John Christopher’s 1969 novel “The Lotus Caves.”

Everyone start sending lotus petals to the SyFy execs.

brit tv did it...but it was pretty cheesy

One of the most underrated writers in television history. Film anything this man writes. Seriously. I'm tired of shit that insults our intelligence.
-
Is he still game?

Gay title, not that there's anything wrong with that.

Titles have the right to be happy.

Why Syfy doesn't take advantage of the richness of science fiction already written and great writers who aren't doing anything and instead produces horrible not even b-movie quality shows has always eluded me. There's a lot of talent out there and they aren't being kept by the networks, Bryan Fuller should have been brought on sooner. And while they're at it...
-
you are right, but I assume SyFy think that intelligent/hard sci-fi isn't going to get the ratings and/or will cost too much to do properly. Ridiculous of course, but they evidently lack anyone with an imagination.
-
More accurately, I remember reading it when I was a child. As a matter of fact, I tried to find my copy a few years ago, but didn't, and apparently the book has been out of print for a while. Maybe this series will finally give me the opportunity to read the novel again.
-
IF the show is good, they will either cancel it, cut its budget, or show half seasons every other year.It it sucks, they will air it constantly, brag about another Syphy Original.

Sorry, but you know that's how he rolls!

unlike most of the reality tv landscape in america which i avoid. there are 100s of channels in america i have not watched for years. syfy has almost become one of those channels, think its down to 2 shows on syfy i even give a chance anymore, so adding a fuller show is a good move.

One of my favourite shows of the last ten years.
Has anyone seen that straight to DVD movie they did a year or so ago starring our favourite Scotsman from Lost? -
...I bought the two box sets and got through Season 1 and most of S2 back-to-back. They are absolutely awesome. Mandy Patinkin FINALLY gets out from the shadow of Inigo Montoya as Rube, Ellen Muth is spiky fun as George, and Callum Blue is so fun as Mason I can't take him seriously as Zod!!
It's such a great show, I can't bring myself to watch the last five eps and the DTV movie because I know that's IT - show's over when they're done. It's THAT AWESOME. I'd absolutely love to see it brought back from the dead, but it's altogether too smart, too well-written and too intelligent for the mouth-breathers in the audience today. Which is a crying fucking shame.
Anything he does, I'll watch. Even with that weak sauce title, and the SyFy suits with their "notes"... -
Bryan Fuller is a stone-cold genius. Hire him for EVERYTHING, immediately.
-
Fuller has created some great shows.
-
Fuller created it, but left the show early on, so he had little do with the majority of it.

Could be interesting, but I don't see Syfy making it into a quality production. Sound like a decent premise. Would love to be wrong.
-
I know how you feel. I watched the first season on Scifi and bought both season with the DTV movie that came with it. It's just super frustrating because we are finally given some deeper possible plots other than George trying to deal with being dead. The DTV does a pretty good job of wrapping up the story line between her and her sister. Sad, but check it out.
-
God I couldn't take more than 2 episodes of that show. That woman's acting is as stiff as a 2x4.
-
And Fuller has said he'd want to set a Trek show in Abrams's fucked up universe, so no thanks, I want my DS9 characters and 30+ years of continuity on TV. The movies can be for the shitheads who don't like Trek, but Trek on TV had an audience and a damned good one.
-
How he is able to strike a balance between whimsy and pathos in his creative output. Spud_mcspud, I know what you mean about trying not to complete both seasons of 'Dead Like Me' in order to still have an episode of the series to look forward to. That and 'Pushing Daisies' serve as comfort food for me so I'll take whatever projects he's involved in.
-
and they go with Little Moon Cave of Horrors
-
Stories set on other planets hardly ever deal with the different values of gravitational constant. I haven't read the source novel, but maybe we'll have developed gravity control in 58 years. That would probably require lots of energy and change many other things - sport for example.

While wearing spacesuits?
Earth rising in the background?
Pop ballad simpering?
-
Without Patinkin, it seemed a little flat to me.
PS- Nice name... is that Comanche Indian? -
I hear Don Murphy is producing this. It will make it awesome.
-
Mr Fuller! Give us what we want and if it ain't gonna be a couple of years worth of Pushing Daisies shows, then at least give us the movie or show finale! You git!
-
well pushing daisies was a real weird show. fun tho. did they ever explain how his touching dead fruits was killing some other fruit (or was it found out to be a bunch of bugs in the chimney? hmm). btw i have no hope in the syfy channel. they keep playing ghost hunters and wrassling and i keep not watching it.
