AMC PICKS UP NEXT ORIGINAL SERIES
Untitled Project from Veena Sud,
Formerly Known As The Killing
Mireille Enos (Big Love) to Star
New York, NY August 11, 2010 - AMC announced today a full series order for the pilot that was formerly known as The Killing, from writer and executive producer Veena Sud (Cold Case). Sud has signed on to also serve as the showrunner for the series, which is currently untitled. Set in Seattle, the series is based on the wildly successful Danish television series Forbrydelsen and tells the story of the murder of a young girl and the subsequent police investigation. Produced by Fox Television Studios, it is executive produced by Mikkel Bondesen (Burn Notice) for Fuse Entertainment. Fuses Kristen Campo co-produces. AMC first announced the pilot order in January 2010 with Patty Jenkins (Monster) directing the pilot. Production on the series begins this fall in Vancouver and season one consists of 13, one-hour episodes. The series is slated to premiere in 2011 on AMC.
Todays announcement marks the fifth original series greenlight for AMC. The first four were Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Rubicon and The Walking Dead.
We are thrilled to be moving forward with this stunning piece of television. It is a crime drama, but it is also a gripping character based story that pulls you in and doesn't let go. The storytelling is completely compelling, and the show is visually breathtaking. Veena, Patty, Fuse, FTVS and the cast did a phenomenal job of bringing it to life. said Joel Stillerman, AMCs senior vice president of original programming, production and digital content.
"Ever since Mikkel Bondesen brought us this remarkable Danish mini-series, we were determined to bring it to American television, said David Madden, Executive Vice President, Fox Television Studios. "We are so proud to be working with AMC and our extraordinary cast on this very special series."
As Sarah, Mireille Enos (Big Love) portrays the lead homicide detective that investigates the death of Rosie Larsen. Other previously announced castings include: Billy Campbell (Once and Again, Enough) as Darren Richmond, Seattles City Council President, running for Mayor; Michelle Forbes (True Blood) as Mitch Larsen, the victims mother; Joel Kinnaman (Snabba Cash) as Stephen Holder, an ex-narc cop who joins the homicide division in the investigation to find Rosie Larsens killer; and Brent Sexton (W., In the Valley of Elah) as Stan Larsen, the victims father.
The series ties together three distinct stories around a single murder including the detectives assigned to the case, the victims grieving family and the suspects. The story also explores local politics as it follows politicians connected to the case. As it unfolds, it becomes clear that there are no accidents; everyone has a secret, and while the characters think theyve moved on, their past isnt done with them.
AMCs Joel Stillerman, senior vice president of original programming, production and digital content and Susie Fitzgerald, senior vice president of scripted development and current programming, oversee development and production for the network.
AMC, which recently received 26 Emmy nominations, is the only network in television history to win three consecutive Golden Globe awards for best dramatic series for Mad Men (2008, 2009, 2010). Now in its fourth season, the series is garnering its highest ratings to date. The first two seasons of Breaking Bad awarded the outstanding lead actor Emmy award to Bryan Cranston for his portrayal of lead character Walt White. Rubicon, a conspiracy thriller starring James Badge Dale (HBOs The Pacific), premiered August 1st. The Walking Dead premieres in October.

Seeing Mireille Enos out of her Big Love Juniper Creek duds. Sounds like an interesting show that I'll probably never see. Sorry Michelle.
-
Too bad there'll never be a Rocketeer 2.
-
What happened to Walt Goggins AMC show???
-
She is getting a shitload of work lately. I see my weird crush on Ro Laren is not wasted!
-
...is a pure good.
-
...maybe in three seasons when everyone here raves about it, Ill jump in...
PS: THANK YOU TO ALL THE BREAKING BAD FANS FOR PROMOTING/PLUGGING/DISCUSSING/SPAMMING/TROLLING! I almost missed out on greatness
-
Hope Billy Campbell doesn't go on a worldwide boating trip mid-series and throw everything off, though.
-
Or maybe COUGARlicious either way she's a good actress.
-
crazed marmoset in heat. gnaw gnaw gnaw!! Melanomalicious!!

I kid.. she's a fantastic actress. She was under-used for (in) in Treatment but perfect. And yes, she's very MILFtacular.
-
But it's ok.
-
She's Milf-tastic.
-
I just wanted to comment how cool it was that Dallas Roberts' character has a framed Invisibles cover on his office wall.
-
It will be worth watching.
-
I've added up what are amongst the best shows on TV, and seriously... Breaking Bad, Mad Men, and now The Walking Dead. Plus Rubicon (though it has yet to really hit its stride) is shaping up nicely.
I can't think of single other network with that much goodness. Showtime is close, with Dexter. Starz had Spartacus. HBO has True Blood I suppose. And In Treatment, when it comes back. And Curb Your Enthusiasm. So HBO is right up there as a contender.
AMC ... who'd have thought it a few years ago?
-
the prisoner.
the back door pilot order for season 2 never happened because the 1st season was trash. amc just aired the episodes in a week to burn them and called it an event, a mini-series. instead of calling it a failed show.
-
It's gonna be a long wait till next year. What with Mad Men and the upcoming Walking Dead, AMC are ruling the airwaves at the mo. Bit disappointed this new show is yet another detective drama, but hey they seem to know what they're doing.
-
I have an irrational dislike of everything she's ever done. It pissed me off so bad she was on lost. thank god it was one thankless episode. She isn't a character. She's just...Michelle Manly Forbes in absolutely everything. It worked in BSG, it sucks in literally everything else.
-
"Manly?" She's smokin' hot.
-
I love both those actors. Might get me to watch this. Haven't touched Rubicon, or Breaking Bad. I MIGHT watch Walking Dead season 1, since I enjoyed the first 6 books of trade-paperback.
I've not been able to find a detective show to watch. Maybe this will fit the bill.
-
That "thank you" for the Breaking Bad pimping actually made me do a spit take with my coffee this morning. I'm with you, though. Everybody raved about it on here then AMC offered up that marathon before Season 3. I watched two episodes and I was hooked. Great show and proof that sometimes trolling works. (This is not an invitation for Joss-suckers.)
-
I've learned this. She's immensely popular. I find her voice and physicality manly, myself. She has a huge face, with big strong cheek and chin bones, a deep commanding voice, and she uses it to the same effect in every thing I've seen her in. As I said, she was great in BSG. She was terrible in True Blood. I know, I'm the only person who thinks that, but I really thought she was just awful. And then everything I else I see her in is just a throaty, manly mess of a performance. She just bores me to death. I didn't mean to sound like I was on the offensive. I just don't know why so many geeks love her schtick so much. It's very one-note to me. And I really, honestly don't think she is hot. At all. She would beat me up, I think.
-
Breaking Bad, as well as giving Spartacus a second chance. Sometimes talkbackers have given me the heads up on the best TV out there.
-
That show is fucking terrible. Is there anything good on this dude's resumé?
-
Talkbackers conversation finally wore me down into trying the Wire as well. I was a huge fan of the Shield, and thought that the Wire wouldn't hold up, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Outside of the Prisoner, AMC has a very strong track record for original content as far as I'm concerned. Breaking Bad is my current #1 show. I'll be adding this one to the DVR list as well.
-
On fucking general principle. What a fucking horrible piece of shit.
-
My wife doesn't get my obsession with her. I think she has been and will always be hot though Mireille Enos looks hot out of her mormon duds- she looks a bit like Anna Torv who my wife gets my obsession with.
-
it should be pretty good.

Rubicon, early on, hasn't been either entirely engrossing, or off-putting.

Breaking Bad doesn't shoot again until the beginning of 2011, so it's gonna be a looooong wait.
-
You're not the only one who thinks Forbes is manly.

and is Spartacus really any good? I mean REALLY?! Or is it sort of so-bad-it-becomes-good-perversely? Because what I've seen of it just looks like Caligula meets 300 directed by a gay McG
-
in that every shot will be either blue or grey
-
spartacus takes a turn and becomes much better about 4 episodes in. is it omg tv, no. but spartacus deserves a chance if you like a little action. just have to stick with a couple of clunkers until the series starts to find its pace.
-
But I'm willing to stick with it for now. Who says all spy shows need to be balls to the wall action anyway?
-
sounds good!!
-
It definitely isn't in the so-bad-it's good category.
I'll warn anyone who is watching it that the pilot is particularly bad, and the first few episodes are weak. But yes, around episode 4 the series picks up in a big way, and get better every episode. I really thought when I saw episode 10 that it must have peaked, but it continued to get better right up until the kick ass finale. Fantastic show. Well worth a look.
-
...is the only show that sucked outright. Everything else AMC has is either good or great. If they keep coming up with quality shows, I certainly wouldn't mind if they ditched the movie format altogether. Of course then they'd have to change the name of the network. While the big Networks are mired in "Reality" hell, it's great to see AMC offer a quality alternative.
-
MTV hasn't played Music Videos in about what, ten years?
-
Spartacus is indeed quite good. The look and sound of 300 might be a bit jarring initially but I've come to love the show. The characters are good and neither the visuals nor plot knows no bounds ;)

WHY are you launching vipers?

Anyone know where you can stream...
by HarryKnowlesNonExistentInceptionReview
...that pilot for Global Frequency starring Forbes that Fox pettily shitcanned when it was leaked online?
-
But it's still available on many torrent sites.
-
...watch Forbes in Kalifornia and see if you still feel the same way. Or Black Day Blue Night, which if memory serves has some scenes with her and Mia Sara that are...quality drama. Or a really special movies starring Lambert and Christopher Schaeffer called the Road Killers.
Maybe you'd like Michelle better younger.
-
Lisbeth Salander.
-
Rubicon is nowhere near as bad as The Prisoner. Why do you think they burned through all six episodes in three days? They knew it was shit and they knew absolutely nobody would be watching after five weeks. Rubicon may be somewhat slow and plodding but it's got a very long way to go before it's ever as bad as The Prisoner.
-
Count me in. Denis O'Hare can get added later on too, please?
