Someone give these blue tongue guys a fortune so they don't drown here, but keep them in Aus so we keep the best movies coming out. This deserves every accolade it gets. It is an immensly entertaining movie, and every aspect of it is fantastically well made. See it in droves, yanks.

Bad move getting a dopey, unemotive teenager to be your main protaganist. Also, there was not ONE iconic moment in the whole film.
Should have been a tele-movie. And a late night one at that....

Extremely engaging, never dull, and very well written with some great performances from Guy Pearce and the actress that plays the mother.

Except the crooks made NO money, and there were NO tits.
Animal Kingdom is like the equivalent of an inoffensive indie rock band. No bold choices, nothing to remember in a years time.

of Star Wars, Jaws, Godfather, Heat, etc. and make this piece of shit that paints the lines in the middle of the road?!
It baffles me that the director didn't aspire to make something with even a quarter of the amount of balls or artistry. Baffles me.
No wonder the Australian film industry is in a fuckin' ditch. I think I'm gonna go enrol in film school.

Is shit. Throw some tits, drug use and swearing in amongst the home and away acting and you get a glitzed up version of what it's like to be a derro in Oz. If u prefer that over this film and Blue Murder I suggest you keep ur television and film watching limited to Today/Tonight and Neighbours... Joely.... Clean the sand out of your cunge and go make a better film, I dare ya

Like someone already said, District 9 was made for $30 million and for that price, had a SHITLOAD of FX shots. Moon was done for FIVE MILLION DOLLARS. It's just about knowing the FX process, what's achievable for a certain amount of money (for instance, inorganic hard surfaces, no leg locomotion unless it's simple or mo-capped, etc.) and then having a vision that can be had at a price.
You even have newcomers doing insane visual effects on a big scale for a few thousand dollars... look at The Raven and Panic Attack. It can be done, you just have to work around the budget and figure out what do you want the major element to be, whether it's robots, aliens, a future city, a spaceship, etc., and then figure out how to incorporate it at your budget.

To the two whose names I wont even bother looking up, that spoke of District 9 and Moon.... These films are the exceptions, not the rule. The guy is right, for every DECENT sci fi movie that was made for under 100 million you could name 10 great sci fi films that were done for more than that.
