Hey everyone. Capone in Chicago here.
It's been a while since we've done a preview screening in Chicago, and that's largely due to my insane travel schedule during the last month. By a strange set of circumstances--and certainly not by design--next week, we'll be making up for this mini-drought. I'm going to have three separate screenings on three consecutive days, some of which we'll have a significant number of seats and some we'll have a very limited number of seats. And these three movies could not be more different from each other. I've seen two of them already (including this first one), and I give them my hearty seal of approval.
First up, I have 40 seats to the Chicago advanced screening of SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD on Monday, August 9 at 7:00pm at a theater in downtown Chicago (the exact location will only be given to the winners). And I warn you, if you can't get to the screening significantly early, it is not worth your time entering this contest. Don't come crying to me if you get shut out because you arrived 20 minutes before showtime, and the seats were all gone.
Seeing SCOTT PILGRIM at Comic-Con this year was one of the true joys of that week. The visual energy, spirit, music, and ass-kicking action all rolled up in a kinetic package is almost more than a single viewing can fully appreciate. I'm itching to see it again.
These tickets are going to go very fast, so I'm only leaving this contest open for 24 hours, starting right now. Here's how to win:
Send me an email at ScottPilgrimChicago@aintitcoolmail.com (please note the new email address) with the subject line "EVIL EXES ASSEMBLE!!!" In the body of the email, I need your Name, whether or not you're bringing a Guest (guests' names are not required), and the answer to the following question (read carefully): "If one of your evil ex-girlfriends or -boyfriends turned into a super villain, what would their super power(s) be?" Keep your responses BRIEF--limit your answers to 75 words or less (no matter how tempted you are to go over the limit). People with the most creative (and honest) answers win, and will hear from me very soon. The deadline for this contest is approximately 7:30am (CST), tomorrow morning.
Please keep in mind that this is not an exclusive AICN event, and it is overbooked to make sure there is a full house. If you cannot arrive at this screening early, please do not enter. If there's even the slightest chance you'll have to back out of attending if you do win, don't enter. If you have a job that might make you late or unable to attend, or an ill/pregnant relative, or a temperamental significant other, or a scratchy throat, do not enter. Anyone not showing up without informing me ahead of time so I can fill their seats is no longer eligible for future screening contests.
