Ratner Knows THE UNKNOWNS!!
Merrick here...
Brett Ratner's company has nabbed the film rights to the Mark A. Altman, Steve Kriozere, and Monica Olsen created comic THE UNKNOWNS.
Story centers around Alexis Davenport, who while living a seemingly ordinary life discovers she was actually once the highly skilled and deadly leader of a mysterious team called The Unknowns and must learn the secret of why her memories were erased and by who.
...says Variety HERE.
At this time it's not clear if Brett would direct this picture - he's been picking up quite a few projects to produce only, so that's likely the path this one would follow as well.

You know he wants to. He usually never misses a chance to call him "RAT-ner".
-
I've never heard of this and do not care about it. If Ratner continues to be involved with things I don't care about then I will remain happy.
-
if that's the case, i rule at ESL
-
P.S. Every story about Ratner should be headlined thusly;
I SMELL A RAT -
When they find out their project got picked up...but by Ratner.
-
...The Long Kiss Goodnight and was directed by Geena Davis' hack husband Renny Harlin. I dread seeing Ratturd's cribbed version of the same plot.
-
He clearly didn't know The X-Men...
-
As we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know.
-
Look, I know this sites trademark is putting three exclamation points behind every single headline, but wouldn't it be appropriate to simply end a headline like this with a period, just to show in real terms how few people would ever really be excited about anything Ratner does?
Same goes for McG, as a matter of fact.
"Ratner. Unknowns."
wouldn't that be more telling? -
He gave us the truest xmen movie (characters do DIE in the comics and they do tend to have big battles). If his last name didn't contain the word Rat, he wouldn't be as bashed as he is now. Also, let's bash scorsese for that borin ass shitter island
-
so.. sounds like long kiss goodnight minus the sexy geena davis and sam jackson... maybe he'll use chris tucker instead.
-
My bad.. guess great minds think alike.

I saw this over the weekend. It was called SALT.And oddly,I saw SALT,but 10 years earlier, when it was the Bourne Identity!

Oh wow something we haven't already seen a THOUSAND TIMES BEFORE
by chadiwack
P.S. Brett Ratner is crap. He ruined Xmen for me and most of the population.
-
And he hasn't run it into the ground yet?
-
Ratner's a HACK. That is all.
-
artless, uncreative, D-bag. And no, he doesn't even deserve a more colorful insult than D-Bag.
-
With Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. Have Chris Tucker's character from the other movies die in the first few minutes, and then his nephew that was never mentioned in any other films played by Jaden can get revenge with Jackie!
-
But it's obvious that the story right below this one deals with a much bigger hack director.
-
Are Nazi's. Which makes no sense but it's true. Only stupid Nazi's could ever defend him. Xmen 3 was not the truest form of X-men... It was the fucking worst! He has not to date made a good movie. Even MNight got him beat in that department. And anybody defending Ratner and then goes on and bashes Scorsese needs his nuts smashed by Thor's hammer. Debate over. I win.
-
Worst thing I can say about a director.
-
Leading light of The Hack Pack.
-
One thing I can admire about his films is the fact that they are shot and framed compentantly, and don't rely on shaking the camera for effect or editing to the point that you have no clue where characters are within the frame. I admire the fact that his films are more in line with classical film making instead of the current trend of trying to make everything look like the Bourne Identity. It is too bad though that other than that, he really has nothing to offer as a film maker.
-
blame Singer. Not only did he help lead to Ratner taking over directing duties, but he also gave us the worst Superman movie to date. At least crap like Superman 3 and 4 had some entertainment value. Superman Returns is just a dead film. It has no life to it, and it was a huge mistake that Singer still hasn't fully artistically recovered from.
-
Not everyone has to shoot like JJ Abrams to be good (I'm sure I'll catch shit for that). Being OK is, well, okay. Ratner's films are fine. There was nothing wrong with Red Dragon or the Rush Hour films (even though I didn't like that series). X3 was fine as a third act, the first films being the other two. Cut him some slack, there's nothing he's done that is bash-worthy.
-
Please. Superman 3 and 4 were far worse.
-
Barring choppy editing, awful cinematography, and horrible performances from otherwise good actors (first sign of a bad director)... Why did Wolverine murder Jean Grey when he could've just used the syrum (which there was a lot of lying around)? DUUUURRRR.
-
...because it SHOULD be "by whom." However, the fine folks at Variety can hardly be blamed for the error. They're far too busy coming up with incredibly stupid new abbreviations to learn how to use our stodgy old words properly.
-
of entertainment. Sure it's maybe more camp/cheese value, but at least you can laugh at them. Superman Returns was like going to a funeral, and halfway through, forgetting why you showed up in the first place. It is not engaging, it lacks any kind of drama, the acting is serious (except once again the Lex Luthor character) but awful, the score is just rehash fan service, and it goes on way too long.
-
movie, but Superman Returns is not a good representation of this. The plot just didn't work on any level.
-
And if English is your second language and you got that right, you're better than most native speakers! Great job.
-
Among the worst comic book sequels, including X3 and Batman and Robin. Superman Returns may be a rehash, and it had no balls, but it was at least competently made (it's probably a little too old school for most). But it's not an atrocity.
-
Interesting points
-
that is all
-
Oh ho ho ho! What a barrel of laughs that is, thanks to the illiterate yourSTEPDADDY. So you liked X3 but hated Shutter Island? Thanks, that is all that is required to quickly dismiss that splurge of shit you call an opinion.
-
Thanks a lot, it IS my second language. I can also tell the difference between "their" and "they're", how cool am I? ;)

Amnesia plots are always awesome.

Like we don't have enough, 98lb women killing a room full of guys movies!
-
Long Kiss Goodnight is the definitive 'hot spy chick with amnesia re-learns being a badass' movie. Try again.
-
Not happening anymore?
-
Warren Ellis' masterpiece (well, one of them), Planetary (slightly), but I've never heard of The Unknowns (no pun intended), so I hope Ratner either knocks it out of the park or fucks it up so bad that he's mobbed by passersby on the street. A good movie and a public execution are both good entertainment. Bring the kids.

i discovered that a few months ago when i was searching for a good film school in USA to attend film studies.after that discovery,my dream to become a director was trashed,i accepted the reality that everything is futile and continued what i know best as cinema goes: to participate in the aicn talkbacks.joy...
