Talking about Cartoon Network and cool looking shows.

    by redegiraahgnal

The new Scooby Doo series "Mystery Incorporated" turned out to be the visually most breathtaking cartoon on TV right now! (Despite the ugly character design and unfortunately the writing uses every fanfiction cliche you can imagine. But holy shit, watch Episode 2 and tell me that your eyes are not popping out from the gorgeousness of that show!)

Why does Looney Tunes have a "head writer"?

    by hellboy

Look at the credits for ANY Warner Bros cartoon of the classic era. There was never a "writer" credit. Even the early ones say "drawn by". Storyboard artists should be writing this thing, not a guy who can't draw.

From the little snippets they showed, it looks more plot-driven (and, therefore, writer-driven) than character-driven.

    @Oknight

    by keynote2k

I don't follow it closely either, but last I checked, Superboy is very much alive. There was a dispute over ownership of the character for a while (which is why Superboy was called "Super*man*" in the Legion of Super-Heroes cartoon from a few years back), but that's apparently been resolved.

In any event, Superboy is a big-time property. A brand-new Aqualad (basically created for this cartoon, with a new one being introduced in the comics in real time) is far more expendable.

Of course, it could also be Artemis (lesser-known character; why not Wonder Girl?) or Kid Flash (who I think has died before as well).

If Aquaman STOLE the son of Black Manta to raise him as his own and keep him on the right path. Have Manta Jr. be the wild card on the team (is he good? bad? both?)... sort of like Orion from New Gods. Maybe have Manta constantly trying to get him back in the fold and provide some sympathy for the bad guy.Otherwise, Blackqualad's just gonna piss me off. And I'm BLACK! >:(

Is it still in production? It just seems like it's gone on hiatus -- and their most recent episode (which has yet to air in the US) is a cliffhanger.

    by prof. pop-cult

Oh well. But in the end, the good news is that they intend to wrap things up with some cool sounding episodes. And they will finish out with 65 episodes, which is par course for most animated series runs (geared for the kiddie audience) in the U.S.. (The previous animated series version of Batman, The Batman, also ran for 65 episodes.)

Has to be better than Teen Titans...

    by claireredfield

...which was pandering bullshit. And I say that as someone who loves anime. Whenever American animation blatantly mimics Japanese tropes, it always fails and fucks it up. Leave Japanese animation to the Japanese please.

To the topic at hand. This could be a fun show, but I doubt it. The good thing about Brave and the Bold was that it established its world and played by its own rules. It was such a throwback it was new again. It embraced its delightful cheesy-ness, and cast aside all the bullshit teenage angst being forced on our kids today by anything aimed at above age ten.

Of course, Wb can only produce one show at a time for some reason, so I bet B:BatB will be cancelled. Young Justice COULD establish a new animated world, with well written characters instead of just card board cut-outs fitted for stereotypes. But who am I kidding, this is their TV animated division, not direct to video. And it features teenage characters, which means they're all assholes, idiots, and caricatures of actual characters.

I've sometimes thought the same thing. Animation now seems to be dominated by kid characters. The shows I remember watching mostly starred adults doing grown-up things. Various Super Friends shows, G.I. Joe, Ghostbusters. I didn't have to see kids like me to like a show.
