RED Sure Does Look Cool...
Merrick here...
A new trailer for RED has gone online. Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Richard Dreyfuss, Karl Urban, Mary Louise Parker, and (!?!?) Ernest Borgnine and James Remar (!?!?)
Bruce getting out of that cop car...is the coolest, OTT manly-man thing I've seen on-screen in quite a while - although I think the gag would work a bit better without the slow-mo.
WATCH IT HERE!!!
Remar, by the way, was originally cast as Hicks in ALIENS and was subsequently replaced by Michael Biehn.
The film is based on the Warren Ellis/Cully Hamner graphic novel of the same name (available HERE
).
Yes, this should've been posted yesterday. It wasn't, but now it is. And it's awesome. So there.

Very cool
-
Holy Hell!
-
Karl Urban should definitely head up a cast for an upcoming action flick. Maybe they'll give him a role in a Marvel film. He would've been an awesome Bruce Banner
-
She's a certified MILF
-
Apparently there are pics of Helen Mirren in a bikini, and Holy Hell indeed.
-
I'll wait for a youtube one, I'm a lazy, lazy man.
-
Hot as fuck. That is all.
-
And having it harass you constantly with Apple products.
-
but they may need to spend a little more on the scene with Willis getting out of the car. Woah, that's bad! Rest of the film looks fun though.
-
(Wait, did Mamet write this?)
-
The man rocks.
-
Helen Mirren shooting automatic weapons, however, now that's cool! And it's good to see Malkovitch showing his funny bone more often, he's a natural for comedy. "You are a mormon, for you everybody has a drinking problem".
-
Indeed.
-
Ernest Borgnine? Oh, yeah.
-
From 1969. Awesome.
-
I love all the Windows-bitches whining about Quicktime.
Macs eases that fucking stress. Open up Safari, watch the goddamn trailer & move on!

When he's getting out of the car. His leg bends just the tiniest bit too much. But its still fucking awesome. Fucking. Awesome.
-
I hope they stay as close to the source material as they can. So good. So good.
-
KARL URBAN and LIAM NEESON should team up for an EXPENDABLES sequel/reboot/prequel. Featuring Marisa Tomei.
-
was BADASS. I'm checking this one out too.

Yesss.. All the good movies are coming out after Summer..
by samuraiyao
This summer has been a shit fest of shit exploding at the multiplexes...
-
How the hell does Parker keep looking younger and hotter?
-
He must be dead by now
-
but the idea behind it is funny and cool. As is that trailer.
-
I kid, I kid. Dreyfuss, Borgnine, Brian Cox AND Helen Mirren. I'm totally there.
-
The first trailer was just okay.
But this trailer has made this film a must-see. -
more excited about those two than any of the other cast members.
-
HAWT with a gun. Seriously.
-
Just another reason to see this. Maybe Mamet did an uncredited rewrite?
-
Only Hollywood can make a PG-13 movie from such a violent comic. :/
Sad to see Ellis sell out so soon. I guess we won't get any good movies from his work. -
I'm sure Morgan Freeman plays God in some form. He always does. The only interesting thing here is Borgnine. I thought he died years ago. It would be cool if he was in bed with Helen Mirren and pulled the covers over them both and farted. Other than that, not interested.
-
If the shot ain't done, just don't show it.
-
First trailer piqued my interest, so I picked up the graphic novel it's based on. The book is about a single retired agent marked for death and is far far far from a comedy. The book is very typical (though rather light weight) Warren Ellis fare. The movie obviously takes the title and very basic concept of the book and then goes in an entirely different direction with it. Based on the trailer alone the film is much more realized than the book which inspired it.

and was subsequently replaced by Michael Biehn"
No, Hicks was played by Chet. Biehn played Reese. Or am I confuse -
Did I miss Remar in the trailer? To me he'll always be Ajax in "Warriors."
-
i never read the comic but this looks painful to watch..the trailer was at least
-
'yeah, I get that a lot.' This looks pretty darn cool. But really, they still can't say 'ass' in a movie trailer?
-
Steve Jobs can suck it
-
That would have been odd.
-
No. Chet was Hudson. Biehn was Hicks. And Reese was Hicks played by Biehn in The Terminator.
-
I really do not want to be subjected to the ads and hype (It's better than Scott Pilgram!) for "Geezer Squad II: This time it's personal."
-
This looks like it could contend for worst of the year. I will quite simply never see this.
-
I remember watching him in Superfuzz as a kid.
-
I remember that morning show he went on recently where they asked him what his secret was to staying so healthy and he said "I masturbate a lot". Needless to say the hosts trying to tiptoe around that was hilarious in itself. Youtube that shit! It's out there.
-
Looks like crap. It's a superhero flick for old folks
-
That's all.
-
Totally unable to reproduce human speech without sounding like she's reading. Maybe she's blowing someone besides Mamet now for parts.
-
Since you called her first, I'll take sloppy seconds. Quite the GILF.
-
"Check Helen Mirren Out in Age of Consent"
This was on AMC or TCM a while back, uncut.
That woman looks goddam awesome in the nude.
Also glad to see Ernest Borgnine here, he's in his 90's and still active as hell. I refrain from wanting to see him naked, however. -
That always made me laugh.
-
was on FOX AND FRIENDS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEhKZNQlJrY
-
It looks lame and dumb. Helen Mirren is not cool. John Malkovich is not funny. PG-action sucks. This looks like a terrible film.

If this was a sequel starring the same cast from 20 or 30 years earlier then this might be an interesting movie to watch. As is, it's just a pathetic attempt to make money by dropping a bunch of big names into an ultra crappy flick.
-
The whole "come out of retirement for one last job..." is so frakking old.
-
You know how there all always knobs who insist - as if they know for an absolute certainty - that there are elements of comic books that will not translate to movies? They're always talking about spandex costumes and giant props - two of the things that SHOULD translate to film, if only the brilliant Auteurs making these films knew how.
The two things that DON'T translate well from comic books are in every, single, fukken, comic-based movie: Glowing, sparking, pulsating, colorful energy orbs and physics-defying "wow" moments. That crappy, Zack-Snyderish, "look how cool I am!" sh!t!
Like, leaping out of a spinning car and skipping past the bumper while shooting your automatic weapon. Or, a slow-motion bullet meeting a missile, just right, to detonate it in mid-air.
Stupid.
A cast of great actors (Ernest Borgnine!!!) instead of mush-mouthed, muscle-bound ex-wrestlers and 80s action dopes? Check.
A fun, silly premise? Check.
A young-punk director with his head up his ass? You betcha. -
Sounds like a bunch of geeks got a look at THE EXPENDABLES in the locker room and saw how small their dicks were, so now they've got to deflect their disappointment.
-
that looks terrible!
