Knoxville Gets In Your Face!!

THIS posting at Yahoo reveals and image from JACKASS 3D.
In a way, this is a really great pic. Not only does it give you a less-vague sense of how 3D will be deployed on the project, it makes you wonder exactly what's on the other side of that jump (our imaginations may well be more interesting, and is most assuredly safer, than whatever's actually there).
Evidently, this film is using the same 3D systems used for AVATAR - so we may actually get some half-way-decent 3D with this movie. It's tempting to say 'James Cameron went through all that trouble developing AVATAR's 3D, only to end up here)?'. But, considering how poorly the process has been used since AVATAR, and the general quality of material 3D has been forced onto, JACKASS looks like as good a use as any.

a great idea actually. I'm surprised. I'm looking forward to this too. I couldn't help but feel bad for Knoxville in the 2nd Jackass movie when he didn't want the filming to stop and kept doing crazy shit even when the whole movie was already in the can. Glad to see the old adrenaline junky endangering his balls and his life for our amusement again.

What a sad state of affairs that a film like Jackass is actually doing the 3D process properly whereas all these big budget special effects laden extravaganzas are going the horrible post production 3D option. Not that I am criticizing Jackass, God help me I am looking forward to it

seriously. I will never...NEVER see a post-converted 3D film. I dont care how much they "improve" the process, it's nowhere NEAR the same thing. It's layering 2D images, rather than a true 3-dimensional image

are actually BETTER use of 3D than more serious/bigger films. Why? It's a GIMMICK, so sure, have fun with it. But when used on a "real" movie, it actually DETRACTS from the quality. Shots and scenes are set up to make for cool-looking 3D shots, rather than what's best for the film.

Say what you will, but I can think of very, VERY few films I've seen in theaters that made me laugh as hard as Jackass 1 & 2. I mean, I was considerably younger, but I was falling out of my seat. Stupid, immature, and old? Yes. Still hilarious? I'm sure it is. These guys rock. I'm glad to see it doesn't appear to be all hate in this TB. Jackass was a huge, huge thing when it was around, we all loved it. I remember it fondly. I don't think the box office for this will be very big, its not a phenom anymore, but its going to be entertaining, you can guarantee that.

I think Nolan made the excellent point about how filming 3D means you lose a lot of your directing arsenal concerning certain shots. And to hell with conversion. If a movie is filmed "2D" by God let us enjoy it as it was meant to be. It's like Pan'N'Scan all over. Stop fucking with the director's vision. Peace out!

Jackass 2 is and was probably one of the best movie experiences I've had in the theater. The collective cries of shock and laughter are what make them a kick-ass experience.

Didn't one of them have cancer and die? I hope so Jackass is one of the worst things to come out of pop culture and this is their last gasp I guess. This is just too easy. "Hey why not have dicks flapping in your face in 3D!" hopefully 3D flavor will die off by the time this comes out. Will this be even funny watching these 40 year old fuck heads kill themselves. Every movie and most of the episodes include the least talented,unoriginal,big headed douchbage in that group saying " I'm Bam and I'm going to stick this up my ass" . Just come out already man. I have enjoyed the movies i've researched and seen though. Was the blockbusters any better last year? Transformers 2, Wolverine, Terminator : Salvation ? The blockbuser is getting worse and worse.

The Three Stooges could be considered "stupid" comedy. 80% of the show was a group of guys slapping and hitting eachother and make gay noises. -
The other two films were very low budget.

Generalizing the people who enjoy watching Jackass is no way to take the moral or the intellectual high ground. I'm sure Jackass appeals to mean-spirited coolguys just as bibles appeal to hateful xenophobes and message-boards appeal to pompous outcasts and never-will-be's, but these people don't represent the sole audience for each respective thing.

I grew up in Knoxville, too. It wasn't THAT bad back then... we had a really good music scene for a while (Superdrag, Judybats, V-Roys, etc.) Now it's become just another college town.

In a Three Stooges way or even just a primal sense that you laugh when people do stupid shit to each other or themselves. But if most of your stunts involve sticking objects, and in Bams case dildo's or dick shaped up your ass,you might be gay. Not gay in the " oh thats so gay" sense of the word but the guys that suck each other off sense of the word.I think Knocksville is a genius and the stuff they do is funny. I hope they make a fortune and keep it going for ever.

I have nothing against physical comedy. There's mental brilliance in coming up with some of the things the Stooges did. And if you think Moe,Larry, Curly or Shemp would feel any kinship for the Jackass boys, we must live on different planets. -

I was actually best friends with John from Superdrag all through elementary school. We used to play with our G.I. Joe toys on the playground. I have a great memory of daring him to stand up in the middle of the school bus once and rap all of the Beastie Boys' "Paul Revere". He did it with zero mistakes.

My best friend Brian went to high school with all the Superdrag guys; that's how I got to meet them. Yep, I was at Emory from Fall of '89 through May of '93. I come back to Atlanta once a year for DragonCon, but after finishing grad school, I moved back to Knoxvegas.

You confuse "selling decency" with simply having a good time. I'm sure you'd be more fond of a spidey reboot or a nice remake instead of a good old fashioned original concept. The Jackass crew are an amazing bunch, they make people laugh and sometimes thats all that matters. You take life far too seriously and find immaturity in anything that doesn't fit into your standard. Stick that up your ass if there's enough room of course.

They're simply taking some of Tom Green's approach to comedy and taking it further. By the way...I liked Tom Green, and he was hardly highbrow. But it was original. It was new. Maybe you're not old enough to remember the Tom Green show. -
The fact that you're comparing those 2 shows is ridiculous. Jackass is original, why? Because they are still successful. You only hate on them because you wanna be known as one of those spiteful guys that doesn't hop on the bandwagon. Get over it, they make money for doing funny shit and there is not a damn thing that's gonna change that. I respect Tom Green but there's a reason he's not popular, because he wasn't that appealing...everyone remembers him he had his time.
