Cool News
Holy crap! Check out these awesome Thor and Captain America concept pieces!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I just checked into my hotel in San Diego and when I plugged in I saw some cool-ass stuff hit the nets while I was traveling.
Yahoo has some awesome concept art images from Marvel's two big upcoming franchise pictures: Thor and Captain America. Both are drool-worthy (God, I love concept art), but pay particularly close attention to the Captain America image. If the movie is half as cool as that concept piece then we're in for some greatness.
Be sure to click on either picture to visit Yahoo and see the super big versions!

It's a funny word.
-
That just looking at these awesome pieces of concept art for five minutes each will be a better experience than either of the respective movies.
-
Will this be the year where we finally have the studios OFFICIALLY release the footage they show to the rest of the world post-premiere? Probably not, but a great thought. I'll be the first on You Tube Sunday morning praying for the bootlegs.
-
And by "gay," I mean FUCKING COOL.
-
Still indifferent on Caps, though.
-
I don't know. There's a little too much gold in that Thor picture.
-
In fact, I'd be pretty happy if somebody could get around to making a serious comic book movie without everything being darkly lit and somber in mood. Serious and even violent plays quite well against light and shiny. It can be done, damn it!
-
I was just talking shit to the people whining about the previous Thor pictures.
-
But that Captain America concept art is pretty amazing.
-
TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION.
-
Thor ain't wearing the helmet. This and the previously release photos of him are without said noggin gear.
-
Joe got a lot of shit for The Wolfman, but it wasn't his movie to begin with. I'm looking forward to a Captain America which combines The Rocketeer & Saving Private Ryan.

the gold doesn't bother me at all
by captain_americas_cock_shaped_helmet
what bothers me is that thor looks like a trailer park redneck dressed up in a rubber thor halloween costume.
-
Why can't they add that. It would Ccomplete the look. Maybe on the next version in the fthe film.

-
both of these films may just rock our collective socks off. But I'm thinking smart money's on Thor being epically awesome. Jury's still out on Cap. Bring it home Johnston. I have faith in ya Branagh. Verily, forsooth.
-
No wings on helmet FTW.
-
It looks like it's made out of plastic and rubber. It should look more metallic and "knightly", and not so Sam Raimi's Green Goblin-ish.
-
They're both impressive but if that's what we're in store for with the Thor movie, then I'm all for that.
-
All will be forgiven.
-
That Captain America picture looks awesome. Does anyone know how much of the film is set in WW2?
-
its the law
-
with their casting decisions
-
...who will Marvel replace Chris Hemsworth & Chris Evans with for future movies?
-
Michael Cera.
-
......well in that case okay.

There has been about 50 years of "concept art" for both films
by rupee88
wgas about these two images..doesn't mean it will translate into anything in the actual film...slow news day again?
-
looks incomplete, is disrespectful to Kirby and Simon and their iconic imagery. No need to call yourself a fan of the character if you are embarrassed by him.
-
I don't see any "concepts." Just bad paintings with lame compositions, and no IDEAS. LAME LAME LAME, and ugly, too.
-
Please let the actual movies be one eighth as cool as those pics. I like the idea of Brannagh directing Thor (I can't think of a better guy for a movie where the words 'what ho' may appear as actual dialogue), and love the idea of a period piece Cap. I just hope some the coolness behind those thoughts winds up on screen.
-
how is this for a concept: I'm going to paint a picture of Thor pissing in your mouth. I think I'll call the piece: TOTAL FUCKING DESTRUCTION.
-
they are practically empty. i think we can assume that there's much to be added in post.
-
YES!
-
to mention that Captain America has a pistol? Is it so he can shoot people in the legs and arms repeatedly, or is he going to be a killer? It's kind of a big change. The first Cap image ever was Cap PUNCHING Hitler in the face, not shooting him in the face. The shield is both defensive and offensive, plus Cap's super powered physique allowed him to be a way better living weapon than the guns carried by all the un-super-soldiers around him. Also both of these heros should have wings on their heads. GIANT SQUID!!!
-
Did Cap wield guns during WW2?
-
as my closest friend moved to San Diego and lived 5 minutes drive from the convention center. Now, the shit is way to packed and not half as fun. It has become way to commercial since around the time it was mentioned on Entourage. Any way, I'll never forget meeting Stan Lee and getting a pic with him and my best bud...priceless!
-
Example - star wars.
-
looks much, much nicer than any live action imagery I've seen in the last week.
They are going to have to do something mighty in order to get me to the theatre as I'm pretty bummed at what I've seen outside of this piece.
-
But the 616 Cap didn't, the 1940s Cap did.
-
Cap with a gun is cool. He's a soldier so he should have one. Thor without his helmet doesn't bother me but, yeah, I do want to see it. Loki looks dead-on.
-
All you guys whining about no wings, give it up. I think it's fine. Would you trust a guy in a war if he had a couple of fairy wings on his head? No. Seriously tho, this is the WWII Cap, here. Who knows what the Avengers costume will be like, and you know they will update it. As well as Iron Man's armor, and the Hulk, and Probably Thor as well. So in time those bitching about no wings, will be bitching about how the wings aren't right when they do get them.
Just shut up and watch the movie.
-
this stuff looks ill concieved. hitch did all that amazing cap art in the ultimates. and coipel is smashing thor with ever spread. and ofcourse rubic.
-
and you can have his gun when you pry it from his cold, dead fingers. Or his cold, frozen-in-a-block-of-ice-for-half-a-century-but-not-quite-dead fingers.
-
I don't need no steenkin spaces!
-
The current Cap (Bucky) carries one and it works okay, so it doesn't surprise me that they gave him one here. I also suppose it's a bit more realistic for him to carry a gun... I mean, he is a soldier in a war (at least it's not a machine gun). As for for whether or not it is appropriate for the character... well, Captain America has undergone a myriad changes over the years (the gun being only a small one). Steve Rogers has used firearms before (albeit not with any regularity) and (Post 9/11) had even come to the realization that a soldier is sometimes required to kill to protect his country. I'd have to say that, as long as it remains holstered it's absolutely vital to his or someone else's survival (and Cap remains more regular Marvel than Ultimates), then I'm personally okay with it. I can only speak for myself though, so have at it.
-
Damn my lack of editing skills!
-
Yeah Hitler was the kind of guy who should have been punched not shot...(rolls eyes)
-
These were on latino review this morning...you guys are behind.
-
Movie making doesn't work that way. Maybe when comics are framed up in the proper aspect ratio, with the color schemes settled on, and....ohfuckit, there's reason that shit isn't lifted straight from comic panels as used as concept art, ok?
-
He punched Hitler BEFORE the US Entered WWII. I believe it is still one of his biggest regrets, not shooting the fucker.
And the Golden Age Cap killed people all the time - he also was very merciful. When Nazi agents surrendered he turned them in. And he didn't torture. Take that Jack Bauer. -
Ok, if you don't want wings sticking out at least have wings painted on the side. Just one-color makes it look weird. Add something to break it up a little.
-
i know i know but all im sayin is they better have a clever reason why a guy would be dressed up as a flag with a big sniper bullseye on his chest in the booger-hued ww2 era
-
I dig the look. Have a vintage style for this film, come Avengers "after defrost" give him a more modern suit. good work http://tinyurl.com/29sdwxg
-
Whether or not that's a step in the right direction is to be seen.
-
Because they're illustrated. Like comic books.
-
WINGS FOR EVERYONE!!! Give cap his wings, give Thor his winged helmet, and as long as we're talkin' wings... when the Flash movie actually gets made over at DC/WB, give him his wings as well!
-
WITH THESE MOVIES!No wings on CAP and no Helmet for Thor (which would help immensely with covering the bad wig job on Hemsworth).I'm guessing that the ICONIC CAP COSTUME WITH WINGS will be used only in the USO scene (probably with more dancing). Jack "The King" Kirby must be rolling in his grave.
-
Every subsequent image we're getting suggests better and grander things. Go for it, Branagh! Pull out all the stops!
-
Blue tights and mask with red and white stripes, plus a circular shield with stars and stripes on it look completely normal and practical on the battlefield. But WINGS? Come on. Get real. Who would buy that?
-
the studio actually TRIED the fucking helmet and the wings? And that it looked silly?
-
Well, he's a soldier in World War II. So I'm going to guess yes. Also, verily, what's up with Thor's leather pants/Doc Martens combo? Forsooth!
-
...I just can't believe that some kind of stylized/streamlined wing, or a wing image painted on the side of the helmet, wouldn't work.It wouldn't have to be the little sticking-out wing from the comic; something painted on would look just fine - think of the designs painted on fighter planes of the day, or on the sides of motorcycle helmets. I can't imagine it'd look more out of place than everything else in the Cap costume. It seems like such an arbitrary thing to omit.
-
Really disliking Thor's costume. It' so similar to Batman's design. And seems very earthly.
-
I agree. Couldn't they have stylized something like this and painted it on the helmet:
http://tinyurl.com/32txtc7
And had the wing portion wrap around to the side of the helmet? And maybe still have the A in the center of the forehead? I think it actually would give it an even more militaristic look. -
I think THOR will be awesome, partly because anything Norsish has to try hard to not be awesome, and largely because Kenneth Branagh is directing, and both DEAD AGAIN and HAMLET were solid. As for CAP... I don't know. I'm willing to give Johnston the benefit of the doubt. Chris Evans is great casting. I loved HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS when I was little. Also he gave us THE ROCKETEER. JUMANJI has coolness. I think he can do right by it. I hope Joss Whedon rewrote the script, though. Because that would go a long way to making me happy.
-
I keep seeing, cap's head looks like the tip of a dick, his costume should look more comic book like, where are the wings. Give me a fucking break. Ever dick moaning, bitching and complaining about the costume will be the first ones on line to see it. It's afucking movie, get over it. As far as costumes are concerned, I'm sure that didn't stop any of you flakes from watching the x-men movies, and their costumes sucked.
-
Cap, it is.
-
Hell, the concept art looks great on almost everything. The Phantom Menace concept art looks like its the second cumming of NerdChrist, but the movie? Not so much!
-
OK, I do think it is cool that they are obviously being inspired by Kirby pretty directly, and the Cap art gives me a little hope. Thor by Branagh is still a psycho concept, I'm just sayin'.
T.'. -
Well, it's only concept art but if those action sequences translate directly to cinema, yeah... Holy shit.
-
I really would like to know where ANY interest in comic book crap comes from....
-
At least I think it will. Tony or Fury is gonna show up when either Stark Industries or Shield pull him outta of the Ice
-
This is 2010, not 1998.
-
You could even write the wings into the script. - Cap parachutes in, saves a bunch of soldiers in trouble, and they all call him their guardian angel or something and get wings painted onto his helmet (wings either side of the the A = angel). I'm sure some scriptwriter could do better...

at least a 3rd grade reading level helps. Would it even do any good to point out the inherent silliness of coming to a 'geek' website and bitching at the geeks for having an interest in geeky things?

I LOVE THE SMELL OF BATNIPPLE IN THE MORNING
by captain_americas_cock_shaped_helmet
-
Redeems the Wal mart type costumes that hit this site this week.
-
Envisioned it, there arent wings on the helmet, Thor isnt even wearing a helmet.
Who the fuck cares!
Seriously, comic book adaptations are never going to please everyone, they are interpretations of another piece of work.
Some of you people really need to get a grip. If this doesnt fit your precise specification for how Thor or Captain America look, then dont go see the films.
But you will still go and watch it. Because otherwise you wouldnt have anything to bitch about!. -
It's gorgeous!
-
consider that mr. nolan!
-
Always looks a lot better than how it looks onscreen. But these are good. Not sure why the Cap one is supposedly especially good though, the Thor one looks way better and more promising.
-
They should have Cap drink some. We get the wings, Redbull gets in movie advertisement, studio recoups some money, everyone wins!
-
to get more Village People than Captain America?
-
... but means nothing about the finished product. I bet PATHFINDER also had cool concept art, and look at how that shit turned out.
-
We can all sit in a cinema and watch concept art for 2 hours...
Terminator Rise of the Machines was some of the best concept art I have ever seen. That turned out really well didn't it. -
They won with Iron Man, but they've fumbled badly with Hulk...luckier than smarter obviously.
-
new pic of Thor in earth clothes with his hammer (mlojlornowhatever) on joblo

And this is supposed to translate into a good movie because???
by onezeroone
Am I missing something? Cool concept art not a great movie make.
-
crappy art
-
budget THOR movie. i really hope its good.i really want to believe marvel can make movies othes than i ron man.And that the avengers will b good
-
sorry no, agree with onezeroone this makes the movies good because?
And I know this is squid territory now but...no helmet. It's a pathetic, stupid thing it really is but it's a quintessential part of the costume. It would be like no cape on Superman or no ears on Batman, it's just not the same. It feels wrong some how. I would have thought in a action shot where the helmet would have been worn it would have been there but it just doesn't look like Thor. -
I really hope they explain how he can avoid Sniper fire.
-
* Queen guitar riff * * duh duh duh duh duh duh duh duh * Thor! Ahhh!!
-
Most of the time, the "art of' books are far more enjoyable and outlive the brief enjoyment the films give. Remember Judge Dredd? Terrible movie, but "The Art of Judge Dredd" is an excellent reference book on production design.
-
I actually think they'd improve the helmet, as, even though it's obviously a GI, it looks unfinished, but as a huge Cap fan, I can live without them.
As for the gun, jesus, even non-fans can google to find out why that's true to early Cap continuity. In a concept image they're going to incorporate as much detail as they can so the gun could play a minor part in the film and it's all shield-slinging.
In terms of Thor, I'm not sure why a few pics are making people steam over the lack of helmet. Everything in moderation. As long as it's there at the right times, for maximum effect. Let's just concentrate on how Wagnerian that clash looks and how Loki will probably do a Joker and become the favourite character in the film. -
those art some fine illustratyons, but a noble sketch doth not an ass-kicking film make. Based on the set piece photos thou hast displayed already, methinks the image of Loki-Thor engaged in battyle cannot be rendered verily on celluloid as such. Alas.
Now, belabor no more shall I--off to besmirch the virtue of the maidyns! -
Many of his early appearances had him using the gun.
He didn't even throw the shield until Issue #7 and that was only in a prose story written by a then 17 year old Stan Lee.
He is a Soldier so the gun is OK with Me. Also it wasn't until the 80's that he became the pacifist.
the Thor art looks outstanding. The armor reminds me of the Elf Armor in The Lord of the rings films. That is good with me.
Also, they will be giving away posters of this art at SDCC. for FREE.
You can get them signed by the cast and directors of both films at the MARVEL MOVIE panel -
...rub penises
-
you must be new here
-
That phrase makes me laugh. What can I say, I'm very immature.
-
My good will for THOR is because Kenneth Branagh is directing it. That is the reason. Believe it.

Bottom of the page. Good luck and have fun! -
I'm still pissed Mark Romanek isn't directing Captain America.
-
No wings? If thats all Marvel are doing wrong, we're going to be entertained. I love nerds, they can brighten up any day with their anal whining.
-
me feel sure here at all. The last time he made a fx film we got Frankenstein, and that is truly a shitty film. I know he is good at Shakespeare, but ThOr aint Shakespear Asi. Its old school Jack Kirby Marvel. I grew up reading the Marvel (most of the titles), and so I really want to see the Marvel universe done well on screen (fingers crossed for Avengers), but Marvel has been tight with their budgets, and so they have gone for more second tier directors so to speak in the sense that they are nt "name" directors with a following, or who are very proven in sci-fi/fantasy genres. Obviously it can work as evidenced by John Favraue, but it can also really suck. Frankly of the two (Cap and Thor) im more inclined to think Captain America will be good due to Jhonston. Not because he is a great director or anything, but he has made the only good period superhero film imho, the Rocketeer. So Cap seems right up his alley. And Johnson made a better Jurrasic Park sequal than Spielberg imho (not that JP3 is anything to get excited about, but the lost world is one of the laziest and unimaginative sequals of all time imho)
-
me, but sometimes these things work precisely because they are odd choices. So far I am not too excited by the costumes (they look a bit rubbery/plasticy), but the sets looks impressive, and they have cast good actors imho. Actually Asi, I dont know what the hell to make of a big budget Thor film. Its really one of those very Jack Kirby/classic Marvel things you just dont think will translate, but I guess we will see....
-
The helmet is fucking integral. I've been fiending for a Thor movie since Adventures in Babysitting, and they couldn't give me a fucking helmet? No, this is just a typical egotistical director who always has to have his two-cents when it comes to superhero costumes. That goes for Bryan Singer and his homo-erotic X-Men and Superman costumes, Chris Nolan and his fucking black Batman body armor, Martin Capbell and his Tron-ripoff green-wave whatever-you-wanna-fucking-call-it abomination of a Green Lantern costume, Raimi's abyssmal Green Goblin/New Goblin Power Ranger suits, etc. For the most part, Marvel usually gets it right, but Thor is not Thor without the helmet.
-
interested in your thoughts as I just saw it recently. Its out on DVD here in kores, it went straight to dvd, no theatrical release...
-
..with Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull, Tommy Lee Jones, Bucky, The Invaders, Arnim Zola...I really can't wait. OK so it's Joe Johnston at the helm but then, character beats and humour aside, Favreau's no Kubrick is he? Iron Man's 1 and 2 were a whole lot of fun but not exactly memorable cinematic experiences. If this and Thor can get through two hours each and make me beleive in this shit on screen then I'll be happy.
-
I wonder what it would have been like if Matthew Vaughn said "No, these costumes wouldn't translate well, let's make some changes."
-
... Thor would be more aweson wearing a helmet and Cap's helmet needs wings. Also, they're paintings, of course the look great. Live action, though, mark my words, will be another story.
-
like Namor's ankle wings, are just a golden age artifact that I always thought looked stupid. Be gone with them, I say.
-
...comic books!
-
I understand your feelings, however it's not a question of Ego. The costumes were changed to fit the world in which they were being placed and to make more sense in a life-action setting. Cartoons and comics have a freedom film doesn't have.
Nolan's Batman is based in a realistic world, no man in spandex could survive.
Green Lantern is an Intergalactic Police Officer(basically) and he shouldn't be walking around in a leather or spandex outfit..cause that'd be lame. His suit is made of energy from the ring.
lastly, No, Thor with no helm is not like Superman with no cape, or batman without ears. Superman and Batman are wearing costumes, costumes used to inject specific thoughts in the minds of the people who witness them. Superman dresses the way he does to show power, batman to inject fear. Thor's helmet isn't meant to be ornamental. If there is no practical reason for him to be wearing it, he shouldn't have to. -
Is there a link out there for some super-sized versions of these pics? Not that I'm picking for detail, just that they'd be sweet desktop patterns :-).
-

@bat725 they DID change to costumes in the Kick Ass movie..
by righteousbrother
Kick Ass in the comic doesn't have a mouth on the mask, in the movies it does. Hit-Girls costume is different, and Big Daddy's costume is completely different. So what's your point?
-
to play Hitler in Captain America all will be well.
-
Once upon a time, there was concept art for a new character named Captain America.Someone had the idea to put the letter A on his head.Someone else thought that the letter looked silly alone, so offset it with wings on each side of his head. The character underwent many changes over the subsequent 70-years, yet this winged look endured. And now that the character is being adapted for live action, the wings were removed. Because it looked silly.Do you see how silly all of this is?
-
I foresee an opening battle on
a rocky plain. Thor (w winged helmet) stands atop a mountain flanked by Asgard's finest facing down an army of Rock Trolls led by Ulik. Battle ensues, Ulik clocks the Thunderer w a huge boulder sending him flying against a mountain with enough force to dislodge his 'wingy hat' causing it to plummet off a cliff...never to be seen in the film again. I love Thor, but visually...for a film? The helmet will look silly over long stretches. I think viewers will be able to relate better with the character w/o a giant winged silver helmet on his head. Again just MY opinion. -
...where a man in an 80lb rubber suits can leap out a window, catch a falling woman in mid air, and land on the ground without blowing out either kneecap.A realistic world that can be taken over by microwaves and laughing gas.
-
IF THOR NEVER USES IT?!?!?! What's the point?!
-
. . . Would only look right on paper.
-
long and flowing...
and Thor needs a buzz cut and ZZtop beard. then it will all be fine -
Spielberg's Oscar winning documentary "The Last Days" has been exposed as a disgusting hoax.
Read about its star, Irene Zisblatt, who lies about repeatedly eating shit covered diamonds, a la Walken in Pulp Fiction. sites.google.com/site/spielber gshoax/ -
is it's really cool as standalone stuff. But usually when the film fails to live up to the promise of concept art, it's because the concepts now have exist in the context of story and characters, which is more difficult to pull off.
-
are so played out. Yawn
-
these costumes are a helluvalot closer to the source material than the travesty of the leather in the X-Men movies. And most everyone agrees that the first 2 were decent movies despite most characters having piss-poor threads. But of course, there will always be something to bitch about.
But, I'm glad to see that Loki has horns otherwise I wouldn't watch this shit. -
I mean who will honestly buy that a guy with a shield can pop up in front of trained soldiers firing automatic rifles and machine guns and just stand their bellowing? Sure - close quarters I get it. He gets the drop on a pack of nazis and kicks their asses but this looks a little bit ridiculous.
-
Let's give credit to the artist:

I predict a Thor helmet in a few scenes, just to please the fans. In fact, I'll bet he's holding it as he kneels before Odin.
-
He's working on a number of active productions:
"since the last post dating 4.16.2008! Alot has happened since Thundercats: Thor, return to Gatchman, several live action films including "Akira", "Suckerpunch," "Captain Nemo", along with some other game gigs, then back to Thor and Captain American, now onto Avengers! man! Charlie has been busy, to say the least, which is why I am writing on his behalf as his assistant for now (he promised to write whenever he can, though, so stay tuned!)
Soon, I'll post some of his newer (and some older) images here, but for now, gotta let you in on the latest (and this may simply be the quickest way to get a hold of him!) -- Charlie will be signing at the Comic-Con 2010 in San Diego with director Kenneth Branagh and Chris Hemsworth on an early concept piece for Thor!
It will be this Saturday, July 24th
---the Thor image has been released online in numerous sites. This is one of them:

Artists can make anything look cool. The challenge is capturing moments like that on film. Damn near impossible with heavy heavy CGI
-
They're not going to give a shit if he's wearing a funny looking costume. Neither will we.

To often concept artists don't get mentioned in articles, when it's their vision that drives the art department, and sometimes even sells the movie.

His work on that Boyrobot website is unreal.

"but he's not this sort of jingoistic American flag-waver"
by thanos0145
"Yeah, and it's also the idea that this is not about America so much as it is about the spirit of doing the right thing," the director said. "It's an international cast and an international story. It's about what makes America great and what make the rest of the world great too."Is he Captain UN or Captain America? Marvel Studios and Joe Johnston may be embarrassed to be Americans but Steve Rodgers isn't.(No wonder why they changed his 616 costume to the Ultimates version.) He's a walking American Flag, that's why he's called CAPTAIN AMERICA!This movie is going to BOMB!Here's a link to the article:http://tinyurl.com/2efd9r2

I think more recently Captain America represents American ideals moreso than America itself. Truth, justice, liberty and all that - values that are important all over the world and not limited to America by any means.

Thank God Someone Gets it.
a gun, a fucking GUN, because Cap is the Punisher!!! for America!
Poor Jack Kirby and Mark Gruenwald. Give me 5 minutes alone w/ ED COCKSUCKER BRUFUCKER and i will show him the Cap America he envisions. -
It's pointless to get upset about the wings on Cap's helmet without seeing first-hand whether it actually works on the big screen. Does anyone honestly think that, on a movie with this kind of budget, the movie makers didn't camera test multiple versions of the helmet before deciding to leave the wings off? Especially when they must know how controversial it would be with the hardcore fans? Seeing small wings on the side of somebody's head may look perfectly fine on a small comic page, but blow it up on a 50-foot screen and maybe it gets kinda distracting. Especially in closeups. Maybe that's why the production art doesn't have the "A" on his forehead either. On the other hand, it's completely possible that these things get added to Cap's costume over the course of many battles, either by himself or his fellow soldiers. After all, the previously released renderings of the costume include the "A". Maybe the scene in the painting takes place earlier in the picture when he's just starting to lead the troops. This would also explain him having the pistol. If you were a World War II combat soldier, would you follow an unarmed guy (especially in that outfit) into battle? Maybe even Cap himself doesn't realize at that point that he doesn't need the gun. I also have a theory about Thor's helmet. It would be very cool if he doesn't get it until the end of the film as reward or recognition from Odin for saving Asgard. Even as a kid, I always thought of his helmet as more of a symbol of rank than protection. Like a crown that a prince of Asgard would wear.

It's obvious that you blood-thirsty superior-minded tea-baggers would insist that Captain America put your deluded political interests ahead of the pursuit of justice and equality for all of mankind. I don't want anyone representing me who harbor hostility and trepidation towards our worldly neighbors.
-
Doesn't matter. I'm sure it'll be good. But Cap? I haven't decided yet.
-
It started pretty early in his Silver Age run, so it's not some kind of post-modern revisionist thing to make it so now.In fact, all the way back then, he questioned all kinds of things that the right wing froths at the mouth over now, such as hate-mongering TV pundits who use divisive, race-baiting tactics to further an agenda.Cap is focused on American ideals. When America departs from those ideals, he doesn't abandon America, he challenges it to live up to its ideals. It's something most right-wingers can't seem to understand - you can love something and critique it at the same time.
-
And fuck Alex Jones, he's the worst thing to ever happen to the 911 truth movement. Whenever he has the rare chance to appear on network news he's portrays himself as a bit-shit insane conspiracy theorist instead of a cool and collected intellectual who's only interesting in pursuing the truth. I'll never forget when he stoop in back of the MSNBC live political panel on his mega-phone screaming 911 was an inside job, anyone who saw that would of immediately associated the 911 truth movement with nut-baggers like him. I use to like him, but after he was exposed for what he really is I refused to go on his sites anymore.

Comic Book Nerds Are Terrible People
by guy who got a headache and accidentally
Who love reading the same brightly colored cartoon stories over and over, where nothing ever changes. "Maturity" means a "very special" issue where some gets raped or their head chopped off in a giant splash page.

The helmet should be WWII...no wings.
His upper body costume looks much too modern. It would be better for the Avengers.
Make his costume more of a Period Piece! -
and that can't be a bad thing.
-
...too bad it will NEVER translate to film. Fuck Thor!
-
but Thor wearing a helmet at all just won't do?? WTF?
-
for the initial WWII storyline, then switch to the round bad-ass shield for the Ultimates era. The old triangle would fit nicely with the costume as it is. Amazing pieces of art, just beautiful.
-
And what is this Cap with a gun Garbage.
-
His lack of red stripes, his smooth, phallic helmet, his baggy pants.
Ugh. -
For those complaining about Captain America using a gun: this isn't new. Captain America carried a side-arm in the 1940's cliffhanger black and white serials. So yeah, this isn't some new-fangled radical take.
-
The pics I've seen of Thor don't even come close to that concept art, but that's neither here nor there. If they capture the spirit of that concept piece, I'm in. As for Cap - I knew this was the way they were going with it, and I'm totally psyched. I'm also a big, geeky fan of Joe Johnston, and after The Rocketeer, I know the guy can nail a period.

and origins to explain to the audience. Lets see we've got:CA, Bucky, Invaders, each invader, the Skull, super soldier program. Cameos by Anthony Stark, Tommy Le Jones. Don't forget the british broad with the "tits so big they have their own zip code". Lat and probally least we need a decent story, action and a CA outfit so that people won't whisper "looks like a condom on his head".
-
private ryan battle scene, cap giving a rousing speech, skull in SS outfit being pure evil and not end with cap frozen.
