David Cross Joins Will Arnett and ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Creator Mitch Hurwitz For New Fox Sitcom RUNNING WILDE!!

I am – Hercules!! David Cross ("Year One," "Alvin and the Chipmunks") will reteam with “Arrested Development” creator Mitch Hurwitz and former “Arrested Development” player Will Arnett for their new Fox sitcom “Running Wilde.” Cross replaces Andrew Daly (“Eastbound and Down”) as the radical environmentalist whom I will expect will compete against the rich, callow Arnett character for the heart of the Keri Russell character. “Wilde” launches on Fox Sept. 20, where it will compete with established blockbusters "The Biggest Loser," "Dancing With The Stars" and "NCIS Los Angeles." Find James Hibberd’s Hollywood Reporter story on the matter here.

Meant to type anyway, I hope it's not like Hurwitz's horrible cartoon, Sit Down, Shut Up. What a load of crap that was.

    Terrible title for the show.

    by SydBarretsMyDad

buy ill watch it. Love Arnett and Cross....and Keri is soooooo very.

What was wrong with Andrew Daly?

    by The_Ed_Carden

David Cross is awesome and all, but Daly and Arnett have good chemistry (they were one of the best parts of SEMI-PRO in my opinion). Daly is a really underrated comedic performer, and needs to work more.

Sit Down, Shut Up started off crappy but it got much better later on. There were a lot of callbacks to AD and other AD type jokes.

That rumor comes from The Sun, same paper that said last August Megan Fox had been cast as Nolan's Catwoman. (Fox called bullshit.) And said in January that Tobey Magurie had been cast as Bilbo in THE HOBBIT. (Peter Jackson called bullshit). Kindly ignore The Sun.

    by The Bicycle Sharer

Dude, stick with the Times, the Telegraph, or the Guardian. Seriously, if you must read the Sun, consider it the retarded step-child of all the prior, a child who insists on making up fanciful, but moronic tales with which to regale you. In other words, don't believe it; just enjoy it.

  • July 19, 2010, 2:03 p.m. CST

Why David?? Fox is gonna mess this up!

    by Duty

Why do the same thing over and over? Why do any live action comedy at FOX? You need to be on HBO or NBC....

  • July 19, 2010, 3:07 p.m. CST

So is the AD movie dead?

    by greyspecter

Can't they take a collection to finance it or something? Like everyone but Bateman and Cera would jump to be back in the limelight again?

  • July 19, 2010, 3:10 p.m. CST

    sorry, that's "wouldn't jump"

I'm intrigued by this show and Keri Russell alone should make sure it gets through the first season.

Yeah, SDSU was great by the end...

    by DanielKurland

That coma joke is SO smart and funny, and Bateman's delivery of "fresh fruittttttt" is the best thing he's done.

the AD movie has started being written

    by Tall_Boy66

said so last week. But they kicked it to the back-burner to get this show off the ground. My expectations are... tempered. I saw about 10 whole minutes of Sit Down, Shut Up and was really kind of angry that the people who made Arrested Development made that. But I love Kerri Russell. And I don't mean that in a flip way, I mean I actually do, deeply, truly, madly love her. So I'll watch this. For a little while.

I actually feel bad for David Cross

    by orange84

David cross is easily one of the best stand ups today, and he is referred to as the guy from Alvin and the Chipmunks and Year One. I understand you gotta do what you gotta do, but fuck Hercules, give him a little love.

  • July 19, 2010, 6:20 p.m. CST

    How about David Cross...

    by Red Ned Lynch

...from Mr. Show with Bob and Dave, one of the three best sketch comedy shows in television history?
Yeah, that's a bit better.

  • July 19, 2010, 6:24 p.m. CST

    Yeah, the Sun got that...

    by Red Ned Lynch

...all mixed up. Megan Fox is playing Bilbo in The Hobbit. Tobey has been cast as Catwoman.
Actually, in the first sentence replace playing with blowing. In the second replace cast as with mistaken for.

  • July 19, 2010, 8:28 p.m. CST

    I'll definitely watch this

    by FrodoFraggins

Cross and Arnett are comedy gold.

    Rewatching Arrested Development now

    by JoeD

A modern classic. I'm sort of glad it got cancelled though. No one wants to see quality slip, and that show was just pure quality for three strong seasons. Anyone who thinks differently is clearly committing light treason.

  • July 20, 2010, 9:58 a.m. CST

    Daly on other show

    by Gnasche

David Cross originally had the part, but couldn't make it to filming because of the volcano in Europe. Andrew Daly filled in. Daly is on "The Paul Riser Show" which also got picked up, so he can't be on Wilde anyway.

  • July 20, 2010, 11:01 a.m. CST

Sounds cliche and cheap and even if it's not...

    by JT Kirk

Fox will still cancel it in 7 weeks. And maybe for good measure they'll put its worst foot forward by throwing a million notes at the first few episodes, ensuring they're less watchable than the rest of the series.
Sit Down Shut Up was fairly entertaining, its first few eps were definitely not that good, but the style of humor grew quickly. Naturally Fox moved it to Saturdays at 12am to live out its run.

has david cross ever been funny?

    by MST3KPIMP

honestly, i know hes supposed to be part of the 'brilliant' but I've only seen him in alot of shitty movies being anything but funny. arrested development sucks btw. any show that relies on sarcastic narration is trying too hard. The only show that did the narration thing well was the wonder years.. and the dukes of hazzard.
